  1. Oh that sounds beautiful. Not to mention the price is right. Keep me posted, okay, it'll be a special time for you planning it, and doing all the cake-tastings. Hey, you may need to do a LOT of research.
  2. This is a question that's been on my mind too. I seem to go around in circles trying this and that supplement. Some I really notice a difference with, others not so much. Like everyone says, Vit. D3, calc/mag and iron are musts for me as I've tested low in those. (not mag but must go w/calc). I've tried probiotics, both the room temp. and fridge...
  3. Just had their coffee cake, first time. It is not only gluten-free, but also nut, bean/soy, dairy and egg free. PROS: Delish! Just add water & margarine. (I added butter.) The dough is not as fluffy as bisquick but very tasty, cinnamony. I added a layer of berries in the middle as the package suggested. The crumble topping is good too. CONS:...
  4. Adult man, adult woman, child? How much is enough? Someone said an adult woman needs 90g. It seems hard to get that much even with nuts and beans w/o consuming large amounts of meat esp. now that we substitute rice items for wheat items.
  5. I had one for the first time this week, and agree it was delicious! It's nice to be 'included' in such a ubiquitous breakfast spot and be able to buy something besides fruit.
  6. Well now I know, if I dine there I WON'T run into you. I read your happy news on the other thread. Congratulations! Have you picked out your dress and the location? Weddings are fuuunnn!
  7. I have a can that's been sitting in my pantry for months b/c it's healthy and I love salmon but... what's a good gluten-free recipe for croquettes or a salmon loaf or... ?
  8. My way of making is similar to others... only step I add is toast the arborio rice first in a dry pan. I made the traditional flavors first, adding mushrooms first, frozen peas toward the end and a bit of parm cheese. I don't usu. like that kind of cheese but a bit is okay, keep thinking I'll try it w/ricotta since I like that better. The idea of adding...
  9. Well thanks for the warning. They do have salmon and grilled chicken but if you don't care for red meat the smell of it can be icky.
  10. Have you been tested for bladder infection and/or kidney infection? Just an idea. I would definitely drink more water, 8 glasses/day and don't forget extra salt cuz the water w/o salt is not good either. Someone here correct me but think we need 1/3 tsp. salt daily and when you cut out all processed food you don't get enough unless you add it. In my...
  11. Thanks all. You're absolutely right. Ang1e, it's funny I just read your post on another thread where you said you kept getting cc'd at first and I wanted to ask how, then found your post here! I'll get rid of it and get a new one, it's not worth it. It's kindof funny the stuff you overlook though... right under my nose and I'd missed it entirely
  12. This site has periodically been posted here but just to remind: Open Original Shared Link There aren't a ton of them but there's an Outback not far from me and I want to visit it just to support them for having a gluten-free menu. PS how are they, never been there?
  13. There's a book about systemic yeast problems that was popular 10+ years ago, "The Yeast Connection" by William Crook. He recommends taking caprylic acid. I followed his diet protocol for 2 years in the 90s. It did seem to help. Looking back it may have been more b/c I ate virtually no gluten, b/c I was avoiding all yeast and the two are married in most...
  14. That's good to know. How do you make it, add water and stir or how?
  15. I'm early on, gluten-free about 3 weeks, but the past week or so my energy went up markedly. I've started walking every other day and having very productive days. Today I relapsed, maybe because of g exposure (see toaster post ) had serious brain fog, hit a post pulling out of a parking spot. Stomach pain continues, am swollen through middle....
  16. OMG gluten-free spaghetti bolognese... what time is dinner? Did a search on pasta sauce and someone did all this work compiling a list... not sure where you live, but probably some of these are available to you: Visit My Website Now I'm waiting on someone to make gluten-free crusty french bread. *tap tap tap*
  17. Don't give up sweetie! You're "in training" right now, and you've noticed some progress. Keep focused on that. I'm right where you are, major bloating from either trace g or just processing old stuff outa my system. Stomach aches daily. Still I'm excited cuz more energy than two weeks ago. That's huge! Buy some of the gluten-free pizza dough! ...
  18. Zeddess, mainly just sending you a cyber-hug! And saying I understand the feeling. It is overwhelming. I thought I was pretty thorough and then tonight I posted elsewhere, DUH! Have to toss the toaster. It didn't even occur to me for some reason, so been toasting my rice bread and gluten-free waffles. Then going, "why does my stomach hurt and kindof...
  19. Not to confuse the issue, but would it be possible the sausages were made with a gluten containing filler? Pure sausage is just ground meat w/seasonings, but it's easy to sneak bread crumbs into meat that's processed (or in the casings even). BTW as to red wine, a friend of mine who was partner in a wine store said European wines are more pure than Calif...
  20. As a newbie, I definitely appreciate hearing of your success and your humorous recounting of it. Good for you, you did the hard work and now reap the reward. God bless!
  21. I've cleaned my kitchen and utensils and tossed the unusable pantry items, but... the toaster! Must I get rid of that since there's no way to clean it? I mean, if I get electrified that will solve the bloating once and for all but... is there any way besides a new toaster?
  22. ETA - guess I should've posted this in pre-dx/testing, sorry. Hi all, I'm well into 3rd week gluten-free and did not get a dx on blood test. Some of the improvements have been remarkable. Main one being enough energy to exercise (walk w/small hand weights) 5x in the past 9 days. AND still enough energy during the day to get a lot done, at least for...
  23. I haven't tried this, but I noticed a line of makeup sold on QVC (it may be elsewhere, I don't know) called Tarte is gluten-free. Here's a link to their mascara, and they have eye pencils. Open Original Shared Link I typed gluten into the search bar looking for food items and was surprised to find this makeup line too. You want to read the reviews to...
  24. Well, you all make a lot of sense, and are kind to boot. Emily, I like your 11-year-old son's initiative. PS, the croutons do look good. I also have a garlic press, and if I lost it I'd run out right away and replace it. I've picked up the gluten-free items, there are so many available, so it makes sense to just go with it and see what happens...
  25. Yes, my doctor's assistant called and said the blood results were negative. I don't especially want to get a biopsy as I don't want to eat more. ( except for croutons Also I was dx'd w/systemic lupus, fibromyalgia, and Sjogren's a few years ago. Some of the symptoms are explained by these autoimmune problems. Some of the symptoms pre-date the rheumatological...
