  1. For those of you out there avoiding gluten AND soy, I wanted to let you know about a delicious alternative to soy sauce. It's called Coconut Aminos, and is completely soy and gluten free! Here is the website and information: Open Original Shared Link It is also dairy free and vegan! You can do a search for a store locator to find the nearest...
  2. http://www.stockngo.com/white-wintergreen-12-pieces.html?gclid=CNye56PBn6cCFYnd4AodkDWIKg Ingredients: Sorbitol , Gum Base , Maltitol , Mannitol , Natural and Artificial Flavoring , Less than 2% of: Acacia , Acesulfame Potassium , Aspartame , BHT , Candelilla Wax , Glycerin , Sodium Stearate and Titanium Dioxide. Same as what it says on the...
  3. Okay...I *think* I hit the jackpot, per the labeling (assuming it's correct, although I've had no problems yet)... Trident White Wintergreen (in the Teal package) Other Trident White flavors DO have soy lecithin, but this flavor does not seem to have that wretched ingredient. It is not listed in the ingredients, and I have not had any ill-effects...
  4. Ha! Don't apologize! I appreciate that you took the time to write all that. I got brave and bought some Lundberg rice cakes (apple cinnamon). I'm still not sure I'm totally okay on rice, but it's really helped my blood sugar crashes. I saw a dietician this week and she's okay with my calories and activity level, so yay! How're you doing?

  5. Sadly basically all gum has soy lecithin in it. . . I swear that stealthy soy sneaks up in the craziest of places! It seems as though soy oil and lecithin are in basically every single processed food out there. Thank heavens for companies like Enjoy Life and Udi's that guarantee no gluten OR soy, among other common allergens/intolerances!
  6. Thank you, thank you! Those are all great ideas! The only other thing I would use "milk" for is on cereal...of which i can only eat Rice Chex, and I don't mind eating it dry (with a little cinnamon-sugar ). So seems like your suggestions will cover me for milk in all other applications! I have not tried to make rice milk myself, but that recipe looks...
  7. I can DEFINITELY relate!! I cannot really tolerate fat at all and have been gluten-free for over a year and a half. It can be frustrating knowing that our body needs fat to be healthy. . . if you have any insight or ideas that have worked for you, do let me know! Good luck and happy fat-free healing!
  8. I just have to say that if you are sensitive to soy as well as gluten, Chipotle is a NO-GO! They cook EVERYTHING in soybean oil, so nothing is safe. Just wanted to warn - eat at your own risk Haven't had Q'doba, but sounds like it may be a better option for the soy-sensitive out there Happy dining!
  9. I started this thread a while back and got some interesting replies! Definitely check it out - hopefully it will help!
  10. I don't live by a Wegman's. But I'll be keeping my eyes open for Good Karma and Pacific! What other milks do people suggest? I cannot have dairy, soy, peanuts or tree nuts (no almond milk, sadly), or high amounts of fat (coconut milk products often make me sick because of this). Any thoughts would be GREAT! Thanks!!
  11. It is so hard to trust companies and restaurants, especially after we have all been betrayed time and again. . .I guess it's all about weighing the benefits vs. the costs. Is the risk worth it? In my mind, it's often not. As far as Erewhon Gluten Free Brown Rice Cereal...I've had it and have not had a reaction that I know of. Have you been noticing problems...
  12. I cannot tolerate ANY soy, including soy oil or soy lecithin. Besides Glee Gum (which I don't prefer), does anyone know of any gluten-free AND soy-free chewing gum?? Thanks!
  13. Does anyone know of any SAFE gluten-free rice milks? Rice Dream is out and I'm looking for another option...Thanks!
  14. I've had both a negative blood test and a negative small intestine biopsy (upper endoscopy). I definitely have Celiac disease and suffer from the related food intolerances as well. I say the proof is in what happens when you change the diet. (You know the old saying: if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and looks like a duck, it's probably a duck...
  15. HOORAY RICE!!! That
  16. I also don't eat Vans because of the soy. Have you noticed the symptoms with any other foods? If so, you could cross-check the ingredients to find a possible culprit? My soy symptoms tend to be more neurological/physical than strictly intestinal. It's possible you could be the same? Good luck!!
  17. Besides gluten for me: soy, dairy, legumes (any peas or beans), peanuts and tree nuts, tomato, citrus, and too much fat (anything more than a spray of plain olive oil). My symptoms for gluten are mostly physical, but symptoms when I eat soy or legumes often involve neurological issues. I agree that it gets "frustratingly random" to figure out; at one point...
  18. julandjo, I know this response is a bit delayed on the thread, but I just wanted to say that when I stumbled across your post, I felt like I was reading about my own life! Similar to you, I have many food intolerances along with celiac disease, but I love and need to workout. Working out has always been very important to me, as a stress reliever, as...
  19. T.H. -- AHH! I had NO idea about Rice Dream! And they although state it right on their website, the box of milk I had in my fridge still says "gluten free". That enrages me. Just because they think the final product is safe, any gluten in the process of making the product can cause one of us sensitive Celiacs to react, and more importantly, puts our health...
  20. Thank you for your thoughts! And I agree that it's a tough call, hence why I asked the question. But basically I've realized that when it comes down to it, health - both long-term and short-term, mean more to me than risking a potentially damaging product. I also agree that although some food doesn't always bring a noticeable reaction, it still could be...
  21. GlutenFreeKate - I definitely noticed more issues after the new recipe as well. And I think you're point is SO valid, and I really appreciated you articulating it: "GM is so good about being careful about labeling things gluten free that I trust them when they won't risk it to put the label on." Wow, it's so true that if a company is trustworthy in...
  22. So I know the Food for Life company has a sordid reputation following mislabeling of the Sprouted Corn Tortillas, refering to products made with spelt as "wheat alternatives", and a recent recall of the Brown Rice Tortillas in Canada. I only began eating these tortillas about 3 months ago when I realized I cannot tolerate soy (in any form - lethicin...
  23. Thanks for your response!! That's very interesting! I definitely noticed the change in the taste/look of Kix within the last couple weeks myself - exciting that the change could mean an official gluten-free label! I truly hope they get that gluten-free label and are able to perfect the recipe. I absolutely love Kix and they make me feel somewhat normal when...
  24. Does anyone out there eat Kix cereal and/or know the *official* gluten-free status of them?? As far as I've read online, General Mills will not label Kix gluten-free because they are not made in a separate facility, although they are made on separate lines than other products. The ingredient list appears safe, and I have eaten them, but I'm curious about...
  25. So Canola Oil?? Okay or not? Supposedly it's supposed to be okay, but I felt glutened after I had some (with no other possible cause). Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for the thoughts and info!!
