nothungry replied to Alexandra Rosenberg's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I would recommend it! I have been 3 times since I have been gluten free, it just feels so good to know that each meal we eat is not an issue ( - and there are of course, many, many great things to do at Disney World!). Also, I did have the brownies, they were very yummy! I regret that I didn't try the gluten free rice krispy treat. I saw them at the... -

What were those zebra domes? People in our party were eating them, chef TJ didn't tell us that they were gluten free, he just made us another dessert. I'd like to try them next time. -

We are going back in February and Boma is our first stop! People also came to our table and asked us how we got all of this food that was not on the buffet! It was so amazing! Disney really knows how to make you feel like royalty! -
ARCHIVED Another Great Disney World Experience
nothungry replied to Alexandra Rosenberg's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
We just got back from Disney World too, it was amazing. I stayed at Pop Century for part of our trip and the food was great. My daughter and I had gluten-free waffles, pizza, pasta, macaroni and cheese there, we were offered plenty of options there but that is what we decided on. We stayed for 8 days on the Disney Dining Plan and had amazing meals at all... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Road Trip
nothungry replied to nothungry's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the info...I don't really want to travel too far off of 95, fast food things would be the best. I am going to look into what fast food places are available on the road that have gluten-free menu's. -
We are taking a long road trip from NY to Florida along I-95. Does anybody have tips as to what kids of stops I will have along the way and what gluten-free options will be available? Thanks a bunch!

ARCHIVED Disney Water Parks
nothungry replied to MyOnlyHope4U's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Blizzard Beach is celiac friendly. I think I had gluten free pizza there last August. Call the Disney Dining number and they will put you in touch with someone who can send or email you a list of gluten free counter service options for all of the parks, even the water parks. They encouraged me to call a food service manager a day or two ahead just to make... -
ARCHIVED Ocean City, Maryland

I just came back from the Bethany Beach (very close to Ocean City). There is an ice cream shop in Bethany called Berry Good Treats (right near the boardwalk on Garfield Parkway). They have gluten free Edy's ice cream, gluten free ice cream cones, gluten-free hot dogs and gluten-free buns are coming soon. They are celiacs and do not cross contaminate.... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Been On A Disney Cruise And gluten-free?
nothungry replied to pineahead's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I am a vegetarian celiac and Disney World has always been amazing with the food - plenty of pasta, pizza, rice, tofu (I know that kids don't usually like tofu) and just about anything vegetarian that I cook at home is available there. I think your daughter will be well fed! -
ARCHIVED Biopsy For 10 Year Old
nothungry replied to nothungry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just to clarify - she was sick due to a virus - but I was not going to give her gluten while she was sick. I do believe that the doctor wants to do the biopsy because that is what he does. I don't think she really needs it...but I like to hear opinions from other people in my situation. Thanks for all of the input. -
ARCHIVED Biopsy For 10 Year Old
nothungry replied to nothungry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When my child initially found out about her positive test, she would not eat gluten at all. Her Gastroenterologist appt. was three weeks later. He said put her on two crackers per day of gluten, that will be enough for the biopsy. Well, we did that for a week, she was sick for a week - so I could not make her eat gluten, and now the biopsy is in a few... -

ARCHIVED Biopsy For 10 Year Old
nothungry replied to nothungry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Would you have had your DS biopsied if you were a biopsy confirmed celiac ?(as I am one, so are other family members of mine). I believe that with our family history and a tTG of 26 she is positively a celiac. Would you agree? -
ARCHIVED Biopsy For 10 Year Old
nothungry replied to nothungry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No, my child is not on the small side at all. I have her tested yearly, the past two years were negative, this year it was positive. She does seem to have symptoms, which confirms to me that she is has celiac too. -
ARCHIVED Biopsy For 10 Year Old
nothungry replied to nothungry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The doctor said that the only way to get a confirmed diagnosis is with a biopsy. I believe my child does have celiac because of strong family history. The doctor said that if a prescription should become available insurance would not cover it unless my child was confirmed by biopsy. I am concerned that a biopsy may not be necessary, it is a difficult... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy For 10 Year Old
nothungry posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My ten year old is scheduled for biopsy this week...because of a positive EMA and TTG. The doctor gave me a choice - outpatient biopsy in the endoscopy unit, or in the surgery unit with general anastetic (spelling?). I chose outpatient. Did I make the safest choice for my child? Any input or experience with the procedure on a child would be helpful... -

ARCHIVED Thumbs Up For Disney World!
nothungry replied to pajamama2's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Disney has always been excellent for me. At Epcot, Gluten free pizza is available at the counter service restaurant in USA (Amy's). The counter service place in France has an excellent cheese and fruit platter. Akershus and Garden Grill were great for table service. The rissotto at Garden Grill is out of this world. At Animal Kingdom, the breakfast buffet...
