    Richard, I am not trying to argue with you. Gluten and Milk products are in most procssed deli meats. Especially milk. Dietz and Watson is only meat in my Shaws or Hannafords that actually states GLUTEN Free(sure their are many more). If all meats were gluten free or dairy free why does one mfg make claim this and no one else seems to. Also I looked at about ten packages of Nathans Polish Kelbasa(sp) and all contained wheat as did two other MFG's. Milk is huge part of processed meat I had no idea gluten had any business in MEat lol but it does. My mother has had this disease for 30 years and went through all these issues as well. I am sure things have changed with some mfg's but saying it is untrue is only misleading people on this site. I suggest we look at as questions as you mentioned but just beware it is in SOME meats

Other than that, I can't imagine where he would be getting gluten. I was hoping we would see some improvement over Spring break so I would have a bit of an idea if he was getting gluten at school.

    Am I being too impatient or do you think we are getting cross contamination from somewhere?

    gluten-free for three weeks now and stools are on and off and far as substance. I mainly go once a day. I am confirmed celiac through blood and Endo. My issue is belly being constantly bloated and gurgling. That has yet to subside. Working on new strategies for that though like lowering lactose intake.

    Beward most processed meats contain gluten. it is a processing agent. Ask Deli counter person for Gluten free meats. They are out there. Like Boars head. Stuff is everywhere. Look at most peperoni sticks that actually contain milk products and no one would ever know

    I don't consider it a reaction because I have given up both lactose and gluten for a month at a time and still bloated everysingle day and when I drink milk or eat icecream, nothing new happens I was already bloated. I will give it up again now that I am strictly gluten-free now.

    It seems like you really just got started on the gluten-free diet. It's not a light switch where you can just throw it and you get better instantly. It takes time. Your gut has a microsystem of bacteria that changes based on what you eat. Some bacteria do better with the gluten and others do better without it. So you can go through a re-balancing period at first and that can last for a while. A couple things that might help are getting rid of all diary, and sugar in your diet. From what I can see, Bentyl has lactose in it, which can be a problem at first.

    Being you are new to the diet, you have a learning curve to master. So be a little patient with yourself as you go along, cause it can take a while.

    The easiest way to start the diet is to stick with all home cooked meals made from whole ingredients. NO processed foods or spice blends, or multi-vitamins with tons of ingredients in tiny type. Remember everything you eat or drink needs to be gluten-free.

    After you have been at a a few months, you could try an elimination diet if things don't improve.

    Thank you, this helps! I am gonna look into cutting as much of lactose out of diet as possible. I do have handle though on what has gluten and what does not but need to focus a bit on lactose more I guess

    i also drink a lot of water and take hikes and walk a lot so that makes me feel better too. i try to make ginger tea often with hopes that it will ease some discomfort but i think that ends up being more pyschological. :)

    I have been eating yogurt. Yoplait gluten-free yogurt for the first time in my life so that is my only probiotic I take. I have taken then in the past as well with no luck. Maybe try again? Rice Works chips bother my stomach alot so no more of those. But other then that not much really bothers me. I am just constantly bloated

    I got officially diagnosed two weeks ago. Second Endo and all positive blood work. My mother has it as well.

    I have been doing great on diet and have a lot of help from this site and of course my mother. I have gurgling noises and what seems to be stomach acid issues but never get heartburn ever. I was given Bentyl and only take one pill three times a day. This comes from months of taking pepermint, Ginger, etc with no help. Still, this is not working either, but it has only been two weeks. BUT I have been bloated for over a year and half. Now that I am officially diagnosed and on diet, will this ever go away? I have lost about 7lbs over last 6 months but belly looks like I am pregnant or have little bowling ball in stomach.( i am 6"3 190lbs . I was told I have lactose intolerence but drink milk and eat cheese in small doses and see feel no reactions. Also I have given up all Lactose containing products for a month at a time and still bloated. Everyone on here gets the Big D, tired constantly, and have muscle issues during recovery and prior to diagnoses. I will admit I am tired a lot but muscles are fine and all vitamin levels are fine.

    Anyone with similar issues or advise with bloating. I have come so far with this but can't get this one thing fixed.

    Lots of people here have helped me so I figured I would share my story. Please see my time line of events to see my struggle found on my profile.

    Lots of people ask on this site, My blood was negative so I am fine right? or it was positive and I don't want to do endoscopy because I feel ok. DO NOT BELIEVE YOUR RESULTS THE FIRST TIME. TRY TRY AGAIN, I went through hell and had Celiac all along. My Gastro dr and Primary Care Dr almost had me diagnosed with OC and went through MEdication after medication for all the wrong reasons, All because blood work was negative and the one sample they took of biopsy seemed normal(should take min of 5 biopsy's). I finally got fed up and went to Lahey Clinic. Within one week I had a panel of blood work done above and beyond what was tested before. I had results next day, ALL Positive! Then scheduled Endo for very next week. I had extreme inflamation and most of the villi were folded down and all samples were positive.

    Basically two points, Do not let blood work be your determining factor. And Do yourself a favor and see a specialist right away. you will only be hurting yourself dealing with someone who only knows a little.

    Hope this helps and sorry to ramble. My experience was horrible and now have answers.

    I have read some threads that Dannon will not say yes or no about if it contains gluten. It says it has Modified Food starch and I get a stomach ache and bloated when I eat banana and key lime. I thought it was because of the lactose because I have LI, that but I can tolerate huge glasses of milk and ice cream and not get upset stomach or bloating. Please help if anyone has any ideas.

    Finally diagnosed on Wednesday after a year and a half of hel. Positive blood and positive biopsy's and my mother has it. Trying to start right and never thought yogurt would screw things up.

    Mabe the lactose in the cheese can be affecting you? Different forms of lactose give people differnet reactions.

    If you want to do a challenge then you should do a true challenge rather than eating mixed foods once and then deciding that the food is fine because you don't think your reacting or think that you are unable to tolerate either when only one is the problem. Drop both the dairy, in all forms, and gluten for a week or two. During this time eat only unprocessed whole gluten and dairy free foods. When your feeling okay then get some triscuits or cream of wheat and eat that 3 times a day for a week but don't add the dairy back in. If you react you will then know that gluten is bothering you. If you get ill drop the gluten and wait till the effects subside and then do the same with dairy. It can take a while to heal and if you have only been gluten-free for 2 months unless you are eating a fresh unprocessed foods diet and nothing else it is hard to avoid getting CC or outright glutened. That can make the first few months touch and go for a bit and make folks question if they may have other issues or if gluten really isn't a problem.

    You may want to consider Enterolab testing for antibodies to gluten, casien, soy, eggs and perhaps yeast. You haven't been gluten-free long and they may be able to pick up the antibodies to the foods that you are reacting to. We don't make antibodies to stuff our bodies will accept so even though they do not diagnose celiac they can help us figure out what we need to avoid.

    Thanks Raven, I did 10 days of gluten-free and and dairy free and noticed nothing. My mother has confirmed Celiac and with that I knew what I am getting into and doubt I had any CC during my 2 month diet. I am going Weds for Dairy Absorbtion test and what you suggested allegery test for wheat, milk, caisen, eggs and yeast. People on this site have really bad issues with D and I know everyone is different but I hope what I have is just lactose intolerence and a sensitive stomach and digestive system. I will see. I had all my blood work and Biopsys for Celiac while on a gluten diet so they would be as accurate as possible. I will figure it I guess.

    I mean limited dairy by low intakes of dairy and I also will take a lactaid as well. This is just until my blood results. I am not looking for anyone on here to tell me I am not Celiac or not. I was looking for some help on reactions. It seems every single person I have seen on here that has expressed they were glutened has way more severe reactions, Basically noticable reactions. To be gluten free for months and Splurge on gluten not just accidently or CC. and not notice anything is to me a big sign, at least for now. If I left decisions up to Dr's I would not be Celiac candidate as of Biopsy and blood work back in June. I do not have allergy to casein, that is something completley different and related issues are with skin among other things. But I agree with you that there are many other possibilites.

    Have you been glutened? WHat happens?

You/I have dysbiosis ( bad function of the tummy). You/I need something to calm down the intestinal tract- Royal Jelly. You/I need sub-lingual liquid B vitamins, multi-vitamins, Vit D topical magnesium (you/I can't take the oral pill right now), and yogurt, to correct the malnourished system. If you don't have a reputable healthfood store, try something like Bio-innovations, etc. They are top-notch. Works for me.

    Thanks everyone, I am gonna try PB8 I read about 75 testimonials on it and all were great! I also started taking Fennel Seed(only been almost a week, nothing has changed with stomach, but I have lot more energy!) I did tests for malnourishment of vitamins and I was fine which is dissappointing as bad as that seems. I wish something was off so I can blame it on that. I have heard good things about Magnesium and may try that to. I walk alot and drink alot of water so hope something works soon! Thanks

    When you correct the damage, the reintroduction of the damage is WAY worse then it ever was to begin with. The symptoms will be much worse. Have him imagine a nice smooth surface( I know intestines are not and have little villi) then if you eat gluten, the surface becomes extremely rough and passage becomes difficult. I am new to this and it was easy for my wife to understand, but my friends can be retarded and have no idea what the big deal is. Point is, we can cheat and we can go back and forth with gluten-free and Not gluten-free and really be uncomfortable. but at some point the damage will no longer be able to heal itself.

This was about the same time I noticed my celiac symptoms getting worse. I don't usually have skin reactions although I've been noticing a reaction to my non gluten free soap lately.

    I use Aveeno soap in the shower to clean my piercings (then do salt water soaks) and this has oatmeal in it...anyone think that there's any chance this could be irritating the piercings so much that this is why they're rejecting? It'd be useful to get some advice because I haven't heard much about celiac in relation to piercings,and I want to be able to take good care of my piercings in the future.

    Hi There

    Nipple piercings can take years to heal properly. It is an extremely sensitive area and women can even lose feeling after they are done. I am a man and had mine done for a year or two and they never healed 100%. I had them done vertically to be a tad different and the barbells were real small, this causes alot more irratation, as another member also mentioned. Having many piercings in my earlier life, I would say this was the most time consuming and sensitive. I am not a Dr. lol, but been around that needle many times. This is most likely and issue of soap, type of metal, barbell or hoop used. Try some things out. But be careful on who you speak to. Some people are quick to give you answers. They will say theirs healed in a month or two, yet that same person can get infection a year later. Best of luck!
