  1. We just got home from my four year old's upper endoscopy. He did GREAT! The doctor came out to us within ten minutes of us leaving him with results. He took 4 biopsies and felt pretty positive about a celiac diagnosis as he could see some damage during the scope. But everything else looked good, no additional problems. So now we wait for results (5-7 days...
  2. Just curious if anyone knows. Can large bowel movements (ie, the kind that plug the toilet every time) be a symptom? I know diarrhea/constipation but my husband brought the quantity up. My son's going through diagnosis and no one on either side of the family has ever been diagnosed so at the moment it's a guessing game who it came from (we'll be tested, just...
  3. Hey, glad you finally made it to the doc. My son's currently going through diagnosis. He's four and has mild symptoms but after finding out about celiac disease, I was like, really? This sounds like me! So after we're done with him (his scope's on Monday) and finding the results, the entire family is getting tested. There's a lot of debate around confirmation...
  4. I'm in the same boat. My son goes to school 3 days a week for 2 1/2 hours. Play-doh's there but I don't think they've used it yet. It's more for letter shaping sometime rather than free play. I think I'll let that go and make note to have him wash his hands well after. For home, I'll buy the gluten-free kind because it does get everywhere! They also don't...
  5. I wonder that it would even be a good seller. But that aside, if they did offer gluten-free, I doubt I would buy as I've never really bought in the past and would just stick with homemade treats for the kids. Also, the girl scouts in my area sell at the worst time, in my opinion - right after the New Year. Not towards the end of January when most New Year...
  6. I completely agree. It's not the sole reason we're doing an endoscopy with our son but I'm hoping it helps in this situation. It's my in-laws. In their defense, I know they love and care for my children and would do anything for them. But unfortunately my MIL is just not listening to what I'm telling her. Or, I should say she thinks she's listening but she...
  7. Just wanted to say we're at the same stage and opting for the scope. My son had a very positive ttg. My son's GI doc put it this way (paraphrasing): We have no family history of celiac so it'll be good to confirm the diagnosis as well as to see if anything else is going on or to rule out anything that could keep him from being 100% even if it turns out he...
  8. I see many are casein free, not just gluten-free so I have a question for you. I keep reading to be careful with lunch meat and hot dogs because they might have dairy but when I read labels I don't see any product listing referring to dairy. Am I missing something? If I don't see it, is it ok to have? I just wonder if it was meant for deli meats where they...
  9. Did you do an elimination diet to figure it out? I read over the Dr. Sears ED and it seems extreme. Cutting out dairy has helped immensely but there's still questionable foods that I'm trying to weed out. Chocolate, orange juice are for sures but other items I haven't had consistent results. Oh, and I've been soy free too but have to challenge it (didn't...
  10. It's our first appointment with the GI after referral from ped. Children's Hospital. I do plan on being tested. After reading over the various symptoms and based on past (and current) health, I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't at least gluten sensitive. I've been wanting to do an elimination diet for awhile but it's not something I wanted to do while pregnant...
  11. Hi there - wanted to introduce myself, family and our situation. I've been reading a lot of back posts and this group seems very active and very helpful, thanks already! My 4.5 year old son had a positive blood result for celiac disease. We're still awaiting the GI appt (Nov 10th) for confirmation. The more I learn about celiac disease the more symptoms...
