  1. Thank you all so much for your replies, input, andfor sharing your personal experiences with me. I'll try harder to avoid scratched pans and will probably invest in my own cutting board (yes, I've been using a shared wooden cutting board, only wiped down with a shared sponge!). I feel very negligent now and wish I could apologize to my body lol
  2. Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry I'd be beyond upset if someone treated me like that. I was only diagnosed with the blood test and after trying a small bowl of rice crispies a few months ago and then Cap'N Crunch a couple of days ago, thinking they may be safe, I've decided that an endoscopy is not a necessity! I would like to know if I'm just intolerant or do have...
  3. I did not have an endo. My blood test results were so positive that my doctor said an endoscopy wasn't necessary. I wish I had had one, though, just because so many people still use it as a final diagnosis. I had one after being gluten-free since I've still had some issues and it didn't show any signs of celiac disease. I would probably do another one, after...
  4. Ok, ok, I know they aren't healthy but they are delicious! Thanks for all of the replies I'll, obviously, stay away from them now. I don't seem to have a problem with corn but I'll keep an eye out for the gums, vitamins, and caramel color. The gums and vitamins hadn't occurred to me before. I have sucralose regularly in one of my hot...
  5. I love these 4C Totally Light to Go water flavoring packets. However, I'm pretty sure that they upset my stomach and give me "gluteny" symptoms. I can't figure out what the offending ingredient might be. There is also a variety that are energy ones, and those ones are even worse and cause nausea. Could anyone help me try to determine if there is anything...
  6. A bit off topic, but my mom bought a cookie from a natural restaurant. It was a ginger cookie with a big "gluten free" sticker slapped on it. As I was chewing (and enjoying!) my first bite, I turned it over and saw that the primary ingredient was barley flour :K I don't get back pain as a symptome myself, but I do believe my symptoms are worsening as I remain...
  7. *sigh* I had a feeling So, all oats are considered non-gluten free? I thought that some people could handle commercial oats and some couldn't. I must have been thinking of the fact that some people can't handle "gluten free" oats. That's so much worse! lol Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.
  8. I keep seeing things about CC with pots, pans, collanders, wooden spoons, etc. I don't know why but I have so much trouble accepting that I could actually experince symptoms from this. I understand that any small amount can be doing damage to the intestine but could my symptoms, that I can't see to get full relief from, really be because I used a washed pot...
  9. Ok, so I had an "I need this!!" attack yesterday and bought Cap'n Crunch. It looked mostly ok but I was wary of the oat flour. I've decided that I'm ok with oats so I thought I should be fine. I'm wondering if the lovely state of discomfort I'm in today is a result of the oat flour or if I should investigate the rest of the stuff I ate yesterday. I know that...
  10. Aww, so sorry it didn't go well! I adore PF Changs and have not had an issue there yet, myself. I believe I've been twice while gluten-free. My husband does not eat gluten-free and even though he ordered an item that appeared on the gluten-free menu, when I asked the waitress if it was she apologized and said it was not and would we like one that was. I had...
  11. Thank you all so much for your replies I'll have to try to find a nice way of confronting my doctor with this!
  12. I remember trying Amy's pizza once and it was so disappointing! My family was horrified with it. It's a shame because it was one of my first attempts at frozen gluten-free food. Thankfully, I have found one of the yummiest gluten-free pizzas at a restaurant around here for about $8. Also, if you're near an Uno's they have my second favorite crust.
  13. I still experience some symptoms even though I've been gluten free for over 2 years. I never had a positive biopsy since my doctor said that my blood test levels were high enough that there was no denying I have Celiac. I believe it was the Tga test. I had a biopsy while eating gluten free to check for other issues and nothing was found. I visited the doctor...
  14. I've been struggling with gluten-esque symtpoms for quite awhile and have just accepted them. I eat gluten free and I'm pretty careful so I'm not sure what the problem is. However, I was finally able to notice that I have symptoms after drinking 4C Totally Light 2 Go energy drink packets. I've looked thorugh the ingredients, however, and can't seem to locate...
  15. How exciting! Congratulations I'm extremely lucky with where I live; I know of two gluten-free bakeries right around my area. From my experience to one though, I can't be trusted! I bought a whole box of goodies (including a cinnamon bun, yum!) and I ate the whole thing within 24 hours...In fact, I'm not even sure it took that long lol Were your purchases...
  16. I think it would be out of line to say anything to the manager - I don't think people should have to not enjoy food just because I can't. Not that I don't really want to have them all try it sometime! That would be so great People would have such a new respect for us. Your feelings were definitely spot on. We're having a potluck at work today and I...
  17. I just bought my first bag of this bread (my grocer carries it, thankfully!) and I'm super excited to try it. Can this be made into loaves for sandwiches or is it just better in roll form?
  18. I would eat the product. I don't believe I'm particularly sensitive and tend to believe companies put that on their products to cover their own bums versus warn us that there's a good chance we'll get CC'd.
  19. I think both of you could have handled the situation differently. We, as caliacs, have to remember that it's a really big pain for otehrs when we always have to order specially. It's obviously worse for us but it can be hard to comprehend and accept all the time when they aren't the sufferers. As a result, sometimes we need to make sacrifices for the ones...
  20. I have major issues with gas and bloating. I'm pretty sure that I've tracked my issues down to sugar free gum. And as far as I can tell it's the sugar alcohols. I tolerate some better than others. Which leads me to believe that it may be another issue, but I definitely have gas and bloating when gum is involved. The sugar alcohols are the ingredients ending...
  21. I'm 4'11". My mom is 5'3" and dad is 5'6". Sister is 5'2". All are non-celiac. My brother, who I suspect may have celiac, is 5'10".
  22. That's tough! If I were you (and I understand the money situation) I would probably test the son, since he looks like he may actually have the disease. Then I would save up and when you're more financially secure I'd test everyone else. I wouldn't even attempt the gluten-free household- if it's anything like my family there would be cheating galore, to...
  23. They did do a biopsy and I meant to call and get the results again. I'll do that tomorrow as I think they are closed for the rest of today. I was having some syptoms but believe they are attributed to the sugarfree gum I was constantly chewing - since I've stopped I'm feeling much, much better if not completely. I do drink distilled alcohols, and had...
  24. Thank you both so much for your replies and suggestions LivesIntheSun - when you refer to your blood sugar, have you actually monitored your blood sugar levels or are you just going based on how you feel after eating? I would be very interested if it would be possible to actually track my blood sugar throughout the day. I have a terrible memory and have...
  25. I was talking to my mom regarding the biopsy I had in March. I had been (and still am) gluten-free for over a year up to that point. Apparently the doctor said that he could not see any villi on my intestine when he did the endoscopy. I believe I tested negative for everything (including celiac disease). Is it normal for my villi to remain damaged for so...
