    One piece of advice would be to not be scared to eat in restaurants! More and more people are hearing about the disease and are making adjustments in there restaurant for us people with special diets...and don't be afraid to ask. I went into TGIFridays one night and wanted to eat with my friends....they dont have a gluten free menu..but they cleaned the grill...

    Thankyou...did you see it in like a regular grocery store? I kind of want to buy some so I can try making my own! Im just gonna try the restaurant and hope it doesn't make me sick...cuz I will be on a date.lol

    Thankyou so much! Yeah before I was diagnosed I would eat avocado rolls....which consists of fresh avocado with rice and soy paper instead of seaweed because I hate seaweed! And i actually craved it alot because it was one of the few things that didn't make me sick. Should I be concerned with soy paper?

    I am trying to find a good sushi restaurant that I can eat at safely. I have read that the sushi axiom is gluten free friendly...but as usual I got a "What the heck is gluten?" response when I asked the waiter.haha! So has anyone ever eaten there...or know of a place that has gluten free sushi in fort worth, texas?? Thanks!

    Oh and a colonscopy does nothing to diagnose someone with celiac disease. You have to have an endoscopy that takes tissue samples from your small intestine. That is how the diagnosis is confirmed after the blood test.

    It makes me so sad to hear that your doctor and so many others say these things. I wasn't overweight but I was not super skinny either when I was diagnosed. I had to ask my doctor for the test. Everyone who has celiac disease does not have the same symptoms. Doctors are just not educated in Celiac and it makes me so mad!!! Anyways I guess you could do...

    Wow gluten is found in so many things, including barley and rye. Your doctor needs to stop talking about stuff he doesn't know about. Its also found in a number of mixed spices, and processed foods. Cross contamination is a big deal to. Genetic testing does not diagnose celiac disease.     I would definitely find another doctor to get a second opinion. It would definitely be hard to diagnose you at this point, since you are gluten free. You would have to do a gluten challenge.     Hey there! The person above was right, you could just be intolerant of the additives in the tomato sauce. It is very weird that we can be intolerant of spices and things like that. I just had a test done. It said I was intolerant to tomato's, basil, parsley, oregano,and lots of other things. However those are all things found in spaghetti sauce!

Interesting that websites say that, because what one person is intolerant to another might not be.     I just had food intolerance testing done, and I had a severe intolerance of chicken! Crazy I know...because I eat a lot of it. But that helped explain why I still feel sick all the time after eliminating gluten and dairy. Have you ever tried buffalo? They actually sell it at walmart now.     Also some people have celiac disease, but they have no symptoms at all, but the same damage is being done to there body as it is to someone with severe symptoms. You should tell your friend to talk to a specialists in celiac disease if she really does believe that.
