  1. Thank you, everyone.
  2. Well, I'm not so sure if this is a typo. If you take a rooster and roast it to perfection in a slow cooker, wouldn't it in fact be a cock pot? Click here to see a picture of a large cock.
  3. 'Tis very subdued here today. I think we must all be in Oakley, CA, where it is now coming up on 2 pm. Hoping Susie and David are holding up. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
  4. There is not a onc-edit rule, but there is definitely a time limit after the original post. It has been claimed to be 36 hours on one occasion by Scott, but my experience has been that it is closer to two hours. Open Original Shared Link
  5. I laughed when I read this. It was the first laugh since our loss. Thank you, Uncle Ray. Susie, how are you doing. It has been more than a day since we heard from you.
  6. Yes, Emily, you must get packing now. Canada Day was a quiet affair here, rather subdued for us. Still getting used to life without Thomas, but not feeling as down as I did yesterday. Every July 1, I wonder why Canada celebrates this day, but not Open Original Shared Link. Oh, probably because nobody would want another holiday in December. But in terms...
  7. Thank you to everyone who has spoken to our loss of Thomas. He had been a member of our family for just over ten years. Susie, I am keeping you, David, and David's family, in my thoughts. Two families of children losing both parents is beyond what I have words to express. Tomorrow is a holiday here in Canada, but I don't feel much like celebrating...
  8. Thomas suffered a stroke at about 6 this evening. Jacquie heard something fall down the stairs and when she looked, he was at the bottom of the stairs unable to move his hind legs. We rushed to the emergency clinic where he was looked at immediately. He had a clot obstructing blood flow to his hind section, and was in heart failure. He was euthanized just...
  9. Susie, you, David and his family are in my thoughts tonight. I will be especially thinking about the three young people who have lost their parents. I hope arrangements can be made for them quickly.
  10. Ah, IKEA. They intentionally design their stores as one long aisle so you absolutely must walk past every single @#%@$%@# thing in the entire store. Every single time. And, when you finally get to the end of the labyrinth, you learn that "ikea" is a Swedish word which means "out of stock." I haven't been inside in years, but we drive past...
  11. Not my preference either. Bon voyage!
  12. This thread is more than a year old. For a recent discussion, started two weeks ago, with 50 posts (so far) Open Original Shared Link It is an interesting discussion. Read it, then decide for yourself. Keep in mind that the ingredients differ from country to country.
  13. Okay, my post count is 1,353 (not counting this one) so what reason would there be for the heinous phluid ugliness I just experienced? The hot water tap in the bathroom sink has been acting up. Everything else except the laundry room is washerless, but this one is still old fashioned. So, I'm thinking the washer needs to replaced, again. This should...
  14. Well, I can only speak phor myselph. I'm here, just not saying much. I phollowed yesterday's discussion, but didn't want to make a boob of myselph by posting in an area where my liphe experience is not nearly as large and rounded as that of the ladies here. Amanda, have a wonderful trip, but please don't be making out while driving! Psoozee...
  15. Well, 'twas a long day but a good one. How about those Blue Jays? They whacked the Reds 14-1 tonight. A new (old) manager and some new coaches, and the bats have come alive. Yesterday, we interviewed a candidate for a job with us, and made an offer which was accepted. He started this morning. There will be three of us to unload the truck in the morning...
  16. That is the whole idea behind a vaccine. It introduces the body to the "invader" at a low level so the system can learn to defend against it before a threatening level arrives. If it does, the system knows how to respond and can fight it before it takes hold. Allergy shots work on a similar principle. A small amount of the allergen is repeatedly introduced...
  17. If not her, listen to your body. It's trying to tell you something.
  18. I'm here. I have been busy all morning with store stuff.
  19. The topic here is whether or not the fries contain gluten, and if so, whether they contain enough to be a risk to a celiac. Let's see if we can keep to the topic. A general discussion about the healthiness of restaurant prepared food is fine, but it should be another thread. It doesn't belong here.
  20. In both Canada and the US, when the single word "starch" appears on a food label, it must refer only to cornstarch. Any other starch must be explicitly identified.
  21. The fries and hash browns are cooked at the front of the store in a dedicated fryer by the counter crew in a standard layout, while everything else is cooked in the back by the grill crew. I have never seen a McDonalds where this is not the case.
  22. Tis quiet indeed. I'm here. I am doing domestic chores and errands today while Jacquie covers the store, so I will be in and out, and probably more out than in. Emily calls Sophie a pack rat, and then tells her she must keep a bunch of old stuff. I seem to recall something about a pot and a kettle. Aren't call centers the most wondrous thing in...
  23. I saw this on another board that I still read, but haven't posted to in years, in the middle of a flame war about legal liability. It struck a chord with me, and I think it will with you. Two posts later a moderator locked the thread. I'm glad it lasted long enough for this to get posted. If you want the link, send me a PM--I don't think it would be a good...
