  2. you very well could have a problem with gluten. however, i'd suggest that you keep eating it until you get properly tested. as far as being tired, you may also want to get your thyroid levels checked. this can also cause lots of stomach issues as well as fatigue and goes hand in hand with celiac. not to freak you out, but i was 100 percent healthy...
  3. i'd start by taking a probiotic for a few weeks, eat things that are easier to digest (no mcdonalds!!) and see how you feel. it is likely that the bacterial balance in your gut has gotten off from the antibiotic. if you're still feeling bad after a few weeks, maybe try some stool samples (lots of bad things can happen after a round of antibiotics) and a celiac...
  4. yeah i've been gluten free for about 4 months now and have seen a lot of improvement since. not sure if it's the diet, time passing/healing, or the thyroid meds but i have seen some improvement over the last few months. the positive blood test that i had they said is very non specific and could be elevated for other reasons. me and my current doctor seem...
  5. thanks, that makes a lot more sense! i do have elevated antigliadin antibodies (39 with cut off <11). all other blood test were in normal range. also, am hypothyroid. what other things can cause damage to the small intestine like this that i should look into? i went to the celiac center at columbia who are also running some test but i don't go back...
  6. "mild chronic duodenitis with focal scalloping, shortening and blunting of villi without intraepithelial lymphocytosis; inconclusive for a definite diagnosis of celiac disease. follow up and clinical correlation with serologic findings/antibody testing suggested."
  7. if you like steaks, try minetta tavern. one of the best steaks you'll ever eat. just make a reservation well in advance. like a month! Open Original Shared Link
  8. So after a long battle and about 3 months gluten free, i'm starting to feel like a normal person again! i was really seeing no signs of improvement and then it just hit. i wouldn't say i'm 100 percent but a lot of the gi issues have cleared, headaches gone for the most part, brain fog gone, anxiety etc etc.... i have also been diagnosed hypothyroid and...
  9. from what you say, i'd bet on it being that the food was more rich and oily. especially since you didn't really get the same reaction as a normal glutening for yourself. rich and oily foods can do a number on anyone, not just celiacs! but on the other hand, could have been gluten! really now way for us to know. my guess like is said is that since you're not...
  10. Has anyone had a bad reaction to these? i tried a few last night. they seemed pretty safe but soon after i ate them i started to get the usual signs... totally could have been something else from that day or day before i guess but that was the only thing new i had worked into a meal. anyone tried them with good or bad experiences?
  11. I've noticed that one of the first things that happens to me when i come into contact with something is the inside of my mouth (mainly inner cheeks) get kind of a raw. i guess it would be almost like mild ulcers. is this common? usually when this happens, i know the next few days are not going to be fun!
  12. thanks for the replies so far. i have not eaten gluten for about 1 1/2 or 2 months now. i have seen some slight improvement of some symptoms but nothing night and day. i also stared synthroid at the same time so it is hard to know what is doing what. i wish i could get in to the center earlier but that was the soonest they could see a new patient. one doctor...
  13. i've done about every test there is out there and it seems to me it is celiac but my doc doesn't seem to want to give it the diagnosis yet. my symptoms are the usual gi stuff (noises, loose(never formed) stools, sometimes constipation, nausea, headaches, brainfog, dizzyness, etc etc. i had antigliadin iga antibodies elevated to 39 with a range >11 being...
  14. i have not worn braces in years but i do remember getting sores around wear the bands connect and also if the band is rubbing against your tounge all day that could be the cause. anything you put in your mouth is worth checking to see if there is gluten in it if you're not sure but i'd lean more towards the idea of the rubbing that is occurring to be the...
  15. i'm sure you'll be fine! one of the few places i feel safe eating is right in my neighborhood and i get the steak frites and a veggie. they have a dedicated fryer and it is a real treat to be able to eat out and not worry about getting sick. hopefully this place will work out for you and you can put it on the list!
  16. Are they generally safe? What are some things to look out for/be aware of besides the fried items?
  17. I was thinking about this the other day. The store had containers of pre sliced fruits and veggies that looked great. problem is, who knows what the cutting surface was or what else the knife was used for. any thoughts? would you be eat them? seems risky to me!
  18. Which brand are you taking that has gluten in it?
  19. What is the word on this? I read on here that it is gluten free but tocopheryl acetate is on the ingredients list. Anyone talked to the company?
  20. Does anyone know of any information linking the two? I was talking to my downstairs neighbor today and her husband came down with chrones the same time i got hit with hypothyroid and celiac. we got to talking and were thinking could it was something in the house? we have had some major leaking issues so i googled mold and autoimmune and there seems to be...
  21. What do you usually tell your waiter before ordering out? is there a quick way of telling them all of the details without scaring them off : )
  22. Anyone ever had an issue with it?
  23. Just wondering if people with gluten sensitivity as opposed to celiac have to be as careful with cross contamination. Does it affect you the same? I'm assuming as with celiac it is different with everyone but do you worry as much about food produced in the same factory as wheat etc?
  24. if it is a wooden cutting board i'd suggest replacing it.
  25. i'm a male so have no clue about make up but i believe i've read that some mac products are gluten free. as far as shampoo, i'm using one called giovanni.
