  1. i guess i was one of the lucky ones...i'm 28 and always remembered having stomach issues growing up. i would say the symptoms really progressed and became worse in the last year. mentioned to my gyno a year ago about my stomach issues- she suggested maybe it was caused by dairy....that got the wheels turning in my head. i saw a GP for a physical mentioned...
  2. yep! i didn't test positive for celiac through blood tests or a small intestine biopsy but i follow the gluten-free diet. already started to show inflammation in my intestines but the biopsy was negative for sprue. my doctor said had i not caught it this early 20 years from now i most likely would have been positive. i will NEVER go back to gluten!!
  3. i have had the same problem with coffee- the dizziness, etc could be from the caffeine. i was drinking regular coffee in the mornings because i was so exhausted all the time. now that the exhaustion has diminished eating gluten-free, i switched to decaf. i just like the taste of coffee and it has become part of my morning ritual. switching to decaf doesn...
  4. yes! this is one of my symptoms!! it will usually hit me days later but i'm wondering if i got glutened because i haven't felt this exhaustion since before i went gluten-free. for work we out for lunch yesterday and i had a burger (no bun) and a side of steamed veggies. guess it was the burger cause i struggled waking up this morning and passed out early...
  5. for those with non-celiac gluten sensitivity: last night my bf and i got into a heated discussion about how he thinks that i'm being way too paranoid and inconveniencing myself with every aspect of being gluten free. he thinks that because i wasn't diagnosed with celiac and just an intolerance i don't have to be AS careful about cross contamination issues...
  6. i have also eaten at this location- very good and no issues! the waiter was very interested in learning more about celiac and was asking me questions- nice when people want to take the time to understand!
  7. are there any newly diagnosed meetings planned for 2010?
  8. my symptoms are definitely from gluten! i felt awful for a few days earlier in the week after eating some things over the weekend. i'm still fatigued but my stomach has felt pretty good the last 2 days. i have noticed though that dairy and maybe even garlic is bothering me. i guess i need to cut dairy out for a while. i have my follow up appointment on...
  9. i stopped by the aveda store tonight. looks like they DO label their products clearly. from what i can tell the cleanser i use Enbrightenment Brightening Cleanser does not have any gluten ingredients but the Tourmaline Charged Hydrating Creme that i use does have wheat ingredients. i also found that some my MAC eye shadows do and do not have gluten. it...
  10. anyone know about aveda products whether they contain gluten ingredients? i emailed them but haven't heard back yet...
  11. was wondering if anyone could explain to me what is considered damage when a biopsy of the small intestine is done. when i had mine, after the endoscopy my GI doc said he saw damage but pathology results only show inflammation, no sign of sprue. is inflammation considered damage? i've been trying to read more about the differences between non-celiac...
  12. hi, i went to a GI doctor in burke, va. he has experience with celiac and is super nice! dr. charles mcbride 703-455-5556 i went to him and he immediately said he wanted to do an endoscopy to see what was going on inside. i complained of bad indigestion and my family is full of cancer. ended up showing inflammation but there was no sign of celiac...
  13. 2 weeks ago i had an endoscopy. afterwards the doctor asked me again if i had history of celiac in my family. as far as anyone is aware there isn't any. today i found out that it's not celiac but most likely just an intolerance, that there wasn't any sprue but that my intestines showed inflammation. i was advised to start a gluten-free diet and to call them...
