  1. the thing i miss most is the SPONTANEITY!! but if i was told i could eat gluten tomorrow i wouldn't change. i don't feel like i'm missing out on anything really. if i want pizza, i have gluten-free pizza; if i want a cupcake i find a gluten-free cupcake.
  2. hahaha we clicked really well i thought but who knows!
  3. eh, haven't heard back from him after the date. guess it's a no-go!
  4. ha ha it didn't last, among various other reasons!! he was wishy-washy in support with me being gluten free. sometimes he acted like he cared then other times he was mean about it. in contrast- i went out on a second date with someone recently and we went to a pizza place that served gluten-free pizza. he ordered his pizza gluten-free so that i wouldn...
  5. when i was diagnosed i was realllly itchy all the time with the lotion/body wash i was using before. not sure if i just became more sensitive to certain ingredients or if it could have been gluten related. i chose to switch. i now use dove sensitive skin body wash and dove shampoo. these seem to be the only things that don't make me feel itchy. i also...
  6. has anyone tried dunkin donuts pumpkin lattes? everything looks ok to me but was curious to see if anyone has tried it yet. i looked up ingredients on their site and this is what they have: Milk, Brewed Espresso Coffee, Pumpkin Spice Syrup [skim Milk, Sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Water, Brown Sugar, Caramel Color, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Potassium...
  7. like the others have said, it is possible for it pop up later on in life. i tested negative for blood tests and biopsy even though my doc saw the damage in my small intestines. i always seemed to have digestive issues growing up but never thought anything of it. it didn't start to truly effect my daily life until a few months ago. my doc believes had i...
  8. gluten-free oats make me sick (i think). i'm going to try them one more time just to make sure it wasn't something else that i ate since i typically won't feel some effects until days later. it's a shame because i loved eating oatmeal for breakfast. i used to EVERYDAY a year ago!
  9. when i have something that irritates my gut this definitely happens. i normally go every few hours anyways but it also depends on how much water i've had during the day. at night i don't normally wake up to pee unless i've had alot before bedtime.
  10. i would also suggest seeing if the hotel can put a fridge and even a microwave in your room. many times they will- then you can keep some food to eat as back up.
  11. this was definitely the case for me! my upper thighs were SO sensitive to just a light touch. i lost 1/2 inch off my stomach just from the inflammation. i can actually see muscles definition again in my legs and arms. i never really lost any weight but i sure did see a difference in my body!!
  12. OOOO! i have to go check those places out. i grew up in this area and now only live a couple miles away from old town. thanks for the heads up!!
  13. the fatigue could also be a result of vitamin deficiencies. this is very common for celiacs. have your doctor run blood work to test all your levels.
  14. i agree! you HAVE to stop eating it- gluten is a poison to our bodies. you are only continuing to damage your body and once you finally do go completely gluten-free, it will take even longer for your body to heal because of your self-harm. it IS hard in the beginning but i think once you change your mentality you will see the difference and will never...
  15. lol. maybe i should try that with my bf! i don't think my bf is 100% supportive of me yet but i think he's slowly coming around. i'm not sure if he ever will. when he is mean about it i just remind him that this is lifelong for me and that i need someone who will be supportive. we don't live together and usually only see each other 3 times a week...
  16. i LOVE five guys. this has become the only 'fast food' place that i will feel safe eating at!! i don't go there often, but when i do everyone is so willing and happy to help. i went there today for lunch- mentioned to them that i couldn't have the bun because of an allergy (i say this at restaurants so they take it seriously). he wrote on the ticket...
  17. i love that!! i don't try to dwell on why this is happening to me. i'm glad i figured out what was wrong and i feel HEALTHY and HAPPY again! if anything, it has made me more aware of food in general from reading ingredients. i have learned so much about how food can effect your body. even if the doctor told me i could eat gluten again tomorrow i don...
  18. Zpizza is great! it is a chain. definitely worth it! (although i have to say, it bugs me that they charge an extra $4 and it's only available in the small size.)
  19. if you saw a difference without eating gluten then continue with it!! it may just take time...everyone heals at different paces. i tested negative by both blood and biopsy BUT i know that my body does not like gluten. i will never eat it again! i felt the same way as you, that maybe it was all in my head. luckily, i had a doctor who believed that even...
  20. the spread they made from whole pieces of feta. pretty sure the chicken was cooked thoroughly- they were very thin pieces, not the usual breast. i've been eating dairy without any problems recently- i did cut it out in the very beginning and can eat ok now (using almond milk instead of regular milk though). i guess it was just the amount that i had in...
  21. feta cheese is gluten free correct? is there anything one should look out for with this particular cheese? why i'm asking: last night i went over to my friend's apartment for dinner. they have been VERY nice and accommodating when they have me over for meals. we had chicken stuffed with a spread (feta cheese, roasted red peppers, parsley and basil...
  22. dove will clearly show any gluten ingredients. i use their body wash and shampoo.
  23. so this isn't about my SO, but my dad. i am the only one in my family who eats gluten-free. today i was talking to my parents and i brought up how thanksgiving is going to be interesting since it'll be the first for me since going gluten-free. my mom goes on about oh you'll just have to eat veggies and turkey. my dad interrupts and says turkey can have gluten...
  24. i found this recipe- currently in the process of making it right now! Open Original Shared Link
  25. it varies for me, but now that my stomach has calmed down overall, it doesn't always bother me. i have noticed the brain fog or major moodiness coming out of nowhere but i'm not sure if it's CC gluten or something ELSE that's causing it now.
