  1. i am SO excited about udi's bread!! i bought my first package of bagels the other week and finally found a package of the multigrain loaf. i made a grilled cheese sandwich and it tasted JUST like regular bread. i am hooked now!!!
  2. when i get dehydrated i feel like i have a uti. i have had many and know instantly when it's a true one. i just try to rehydrate and that usually does the trick. also, i noticed when i was eating gluten i was always itchy down there. that has disappeared!
  3. let's see, for me personally the biggest thing i noticed was that i could actually get out of bed in the morning!! i was SO fatigued that sleeping 8 hours at night wasn't enough- i would wake up in the mornings feeling like i had not slept at all. because of the tiredness i had coffee every morning (just the one in the morning). now, i drink decaf because...
  4. Open Original Shared Link here's a link that shows where it can be purchased. amazon also carries it. all the pamela's mixes are awesome!! i especially like the pancake/baking, brownie, and bread mixes.
  5. giant food brand has allergen info on their site. (DC/VA/MD/DE) Open Original Shared Link "Allergen statements on our Giant brand products. The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA), requires food labels to indicate if the product contains any of the "Big 8" allergens (wheat, soy, milk, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, and...
  6. my favorite is classico. i have noticed recently on a few flavors gluten free was on the back label. i'm not sure about all flavors so definitely read the label.
  7. i def do not miss gluten! in fact, when i'm around certain items now the smells make me want to gag. i don't feel like i'm missing out on anything, except for that real flexibility of going somewhere and not having to think about ingredients. BUT i'd rather deal with that then feeling how i did months ago! i have found many gluten-free products that...
  8. pf changs panera bread buzz bakery (this is next door to rustico and owned by the same people. their brownie is YUMMY!) zpizza is decent (they charge an extra $4 for gluten-free and you can only get the small sized pizza...but decent if you're craving pizza) five guys (no bun obv. and the fries are safe from CC since nothing else is fried) MOM's organic...
  9. haha i just ignore it. i know a lot of times he's just teasing me. i'm sure it'll be an entirely different story if we were to live together. one good thing: he's a very neat/clean person so i wouldn't have to feel unsafe about CC in the kitchen. i would never force him to be gluten-free if we lived together. what i do now (separate toaster, etc) will...
  10. my bf thinks i am too extreme (we don't live together) when i bought a new pasta strainer, tupperware and cooking utensils. it makes me feel safe when i have my own toaster and certain items that only i use separately from my roommate. the other night some friends and i went to mcdonald's for ice cream. they all got mcflurries. i opted out because i didn...
  11. gluten made me verrrrry irritable!! (poor bf put up with a lot) i was always in a horrible mood and felt depressed all the time.
  12. maybe this is why i wanted to gag at the smell of someone's mcdonald's fries when i was walking behind them at the mall! haha
  13. def stick to the whole foods for a while- fresh fruits, veggies, and meats! what brand of rice chips are you eating? i have noticed that lundberg brown rice chips, even though gluten-free, bother me. i get really gassy and sometimes C. however, rice works brown rice chips i'm fine. they taste and look exactly the same!
  14. not sure about outback but if you're looking for a place that has pasta try maggianos. they are VERY good about gluten. i went there for my bday specifically because i knew i would be safe. the chef came out and talked to me before and asked what i wanted- i kind of mixed and matched dishes.
  15. envirokidz makes a gluten-free rice crispy treat. i think they're about $4 a box. they have a couple of different flavors...although i find the peanut butter flavor to be a little over powering.
  16. i drink DD coffee everyday from their store and don't have problems. i used to drink regular but switched to decaf after going gluten-free which doesn't seem to run through me like the regular coffee did. my friend (who doesn't have any food issues) said she gets nauseous from their coffee but recently had it black without cream or anything in it and...
  17. i've eaten here a few times since going gluten-free. i get the black bean soup and sesame chicken salad (without the croutons). one time they forgot to leave them off (even though i said i had an 'allergy') and kindly asked them to remake the salad- they happily did and apologized. i haven't really tried anything else....just have stuck to this particular...
  18. i personally like pamela's bread mix. i don't really make it that often now though because i can't eat the big loaf by myself. i also buy trader joe's french rolls to have on hand for when i walk 5+ miles. they don't last as long as regular bread sitting on the counter but i keep them in the freezer and take one out at a time to eat as needed.
  19. i'm starting to think that i had a reaction to this as well. i used to break out (like zits) all over my chin area. this has pretty much gone away after going gluten-free but earlier this week i had amy's pizza. the next day i had the zits everywhere. this is the only thing i can think of i have eaten this week that could be causing it OR it's from the...
  20. i don't think i am as sensitive with traces of gluten either and i'm not technically celiac (although i had inflammation). i do have a roommate though. she and i have our own set of pots and pans while we share glass casserole dishes and the cookie sheets, etc. we use our own set of dishes but share silverware, utensils, and glasses. once i went gluten...
  21. i had the same problem. i've always had dry skin but as soon as i went gluten-free i couldn't stop itching. i just associated it with my body expelling the gluten. i immediately switched to dove sensitive skin bodywash and that seemed to do the trick for me.
  22. while at the grocery store yesterday i bought nature valley's nut clusters. it doesn't have a gluten-free label on the front (like the bars will?) but from what i can tell the ingredients are ok. there are whole grain oats though...i know this is a big debate. i don't eat oats regularly and don't plan on eating these everyday either. here's the list of...
  23. i've eaten at five guys a few times without any problems. i just tell them i have an 'allergy' and can't have the bun and ask whoever is making my burger to put on fresh gloves. i've never had a problem. as others have said, they don't fry anything else so their fries are safe!
  24. ooo good to know about yaz. i've been on that now for a couple of years and did not research it yet. glad i won't have to switch!
  25. hi, was curious if there will be any new meetings in the next few months? i, unfortunately, was not able to attend the may 1 meeting (was walking in the avon walk that weekend). thanks!
