  1. Does anyone use McCormick taco seasoning? It has no ingredients that I would think have gluten (it does have whey solids). I did call and they said it was gluten-free but I just thought I'd ask if anyone else uses it as my hubby wants to have tacos tonight!

    ARCHIVED Need Phoenix Dr

Anyone have advice for a Phoenix area doctor? I had a GI doc but it takes approximately 1 1/2 hours of wait time before he will see you. On Wednesday I gave up out of frustration, asked for my money back, and left. Now I'm stuck w/out a dr. but I refuse to wait that long. Does anyone know of a DR. in Phoenix? One that is good and actually kind of sticks...
  3. I'm going thru the same thing; since going gluten-free my tummy pain is better but I am so nauseated a lot of the time and it's really frustrating. I can only hope that one day these probelms will abate. I'm trying to stay as positive as I possibly can in the meantime.
  4. I use Pacific (in local grocery store) and it's wonderful. It's gluten-free and lactose free.
  5. To think that Jesus would care if our communion wafer was not wheat goes against everything we are taught about Jesus. I can see where the priests are coming from, but they are forgetting the basic principles of their faith.
  6. Even though I have been feeling so much better on the gluten-free diet in regards to my gut, I am nauseated almost all of the time! What's the deal here? (and I am definitely not pregnant). I never used to be that way. Yesterday evening I got so sick for no reason at all and was shaking and nauseated. There is no reason I should be sick like this! I've been...
  7. This morning on a very popular morning show there was a guy talking about his new restaurant. The DJ said anyone who had questions could call. I called and asked if he was planning on offering gluten-free food and said that he should so that Celiacs can frequent his restaurant. I told him the food sounded wonderful and I would love to visit his restaurant...
  8. I agree with Tarnalberrys suggestion: don't eat out. I know it's a discouraging thought, but really, it is a small price to pay for your health. I am a former restaurant junkie. I haven't stepped foot in one in 6 weeks and I only intend on eating out when I absolutely have to. I work 16 hour days quite a bit and have to bring 2 full meals plus snacks with...
  9. I didn't think of the scoop issue; thanks for that tip! According to their website, all but two of their boosts are in fact gluten-free. Only the Vibrant C blend and one other have gluten; the protein is gluten-free. I had the protein last week in my smoothie and I feel fine. But, if they mix the blender/scooper that could be a problem. I always ask...
  10. Ok, I really need to get back on my acidopholus. I stopped taking it b/c I didn't know if it was gluten-free...but candida is coming back as a major problem and I need to take probiotics again. I take "Yeast Defense" which I believe is gluten-free..(I'll call on Monday). The company is Nutrition Now. What I really need to know is if Nature's Way Primadophilus...
  11. Kati, Do you have any side effects from the Nystatin?
  12. Kati, What is Nyastatin? I must ask my doc about this. I have candida problems, too. I think I'll make an appt. tomorrow to ask about that...is it an anti-fungal?
  13. Really, each school is different and each child/parent is different so whether or not a 504 is necessary should be an individulatistic thing. My problem with the opposition by the two particular posters is simply that I don't feel you have the child's best interests at heart. I know you have your children's best interests at heart, but it doesn't seem like...
  14. I believe every 504 plan does have a case manager, but in the case of a child with celiac disease, they would probably only meet once a year with the parents, teachers, and child. Kids with more significant disabilities meet more often. In the case of a celiac disease child, the involvement would probably be very minimal. As for question two, I'm not entirely...
  15. Thanks; you're awesome!!!
  16. I am not a pessimistic person who thinks the world has fallen to crap. On the contrary, actually; I am an eternal optimist. You have misunderstood MY post. If I thought the world was so full of awful people and parents, I wouldn't be in the profession I am in! I am here because I believe I CAN make a differerence for all kids that I work with....and that...
  17. Wow! thanks..I just went to their site, too, but didn't find that...where on earth was I looking? thank you!!!!!!
  18. Cool, thanks! Anyone know about Jamba Juice? I'm going to try to call but it is a Saturday...
  19. Plantime and Deby, I respect your opinions, but I think you are highly overestimating most parents. I think it's great for you two who seem to be wonderful parents. I hate to say it, but unfortunately it's the truth: you ARE in the minority. You call teachers, you work on your child's education outside of school. This is NOT the norm. I wish I could say...
  20. I thank my lucky stars for this board every day... Does anyone know if Jamba Juice smoothies are gluten-free? How about Starbucks? Regular/decaf coffee are gluten-free, right? What a about a nonfat vanilla latte? I'm going out today and will come across these places...need to know if it's OK to get something!
  21. I know it's not practical for everyone, but I've gone all organic now to eliminate these problems. I just don't want to deal with them anymore.
  22. I agree that suing the school is just plain ridiculous in that case, but parents I strongly suggest you go with the 504 plan. Here's why: parents and teachers, no matter how much they try to communicate, often miss each other in the busy day, or end up playing phone tag. If you have a 504 plan, that means your child has a case manager, someone I as the...
  23. As a parent I could see why you might think a 504 plan is NOT necessary, but let me tell you from a teacher's standpoint, it is necessary. Kids with 504 plans have EVERY teacher the child sees alerted to their condition and needs. In the younger grades this is very important, as kids could possibly be contaminated with a snack from a friend or a field trip...
  24. Thank you all so much!!!!
  25. Do you know if plain Lipton tea is gluten-free? Or what kind of Celestial Seasonings is gluten-free? Thank you, by the way. I can't even talk right now and I miss tea so much!
