  1. The oddest thing to me is: I started suffering from all of these symptoms only AFTER I went gluten-free. I never had bad back pain until I started my gluten-free diet. Go figure.

    ARCHIVED Cd & Exercise

If you don't have a qualified instructor to take yoga from, order a Beth Shaw video off of yogafit.com. My instructor says she is the real deal and where she got her training. I do yoga, I ski, I waterski, run on the treadmill, lift weights. I've always excercised so my diagnosis won't change anything. Edited for spelling.
  3. I don't know if this is the type of vitamins you're looking for, but TwinLab is sold at Safeway and they have a B complex and a multi daily vitamin. They're about $15 for 60 day supply.
  4. Is Fibromyalgia different for everyone? Recently I hurt in strange places..like my ribs on both sides, my back and shoulders. It feels like someone punched me and I'm bruised. It's extremely tender to the touch for no reason whatsoever. My chest is also frequently sore; I've always just played it off as "my lymph glands must be swollen, maybe I'm fighting...
  5. Coppertone is gluten-free??? All kinds?
  6. What kinds of Peanut butter are gluten-free? I tried organic but just can't get used to it...it's kind of nasty. Any thoughts on gluten-free peanut butter like skippy or jif? I don't have a list and I thought someone here would know...
  7. I want to have food allergy tests but don't want to spend a ton of money. How do I do this? I keep hearing about this York thing. What is it and where can I get it? Thanks, Jennifer
  8. I live in Phoenix and own a boat! Needless to say I use gallons of sunscreen every summer. Does anyone know where I can get some gluten-free sunscreen?
  9. i'm sure you're doc is trying to rule out other things as well, right? Maybe you have another kind of intestinal disorder. Hopefully they will find out what is wrong and help you! We all know how you feel. And, it takes awhile for your symptoms to go away. Don't get disheartened if you don't feel better right away. I read that for some people it can be...
  10. We had a new store called Arise Markets open in Phoenix. It's awesome. They serve foods for gluten free diets, plus an entire list of other diets. The amazing thing? You don't have to read labels (although let's face it, we will anyway.) Right on the shelf under the product are numbers. For example, a meal might say 45WD. 4 means low carbs, 5 means gluten...

    ARCHIVED Fast Food

a new Chipotle just opened near our house. I had read on this board that they had a gluten-free menu. we went in the other day and the manager had absolutely no clue what a gluten free menu was and said they didn't have one. Hmmm.....
  12. I ate at PF Chang's today in Scottsdale, AZ and it was great! the lemon butter chicken is awesome. The manager of the store is a celiac. The waitress said she has "whipped the chefs into shape" and that they never have cross contamination problems because of her. Needless to say, I'm grateful!
  13. Is there such thing as non dairy AND non soy butter or margarine?
  14. will your blood test always be abnormal or test positive if you have celiac disease? Or does it go back to normal if you stop eating gluten?
  15. Where can you find this? In any store?
  16. Ok, opinions please! My GI doc is out of town until the day before my upper endoscopy on Feb. 1 so i can't ask him this question. I have been gluten-free since about Jan. 1. My upper endoscopy is Feb. 1. Will being gluten free for one month skew my results? I'm so confused. Should I go back to eating gluten or just stay gluten-free? Help! Also, did...
  17. This might be a stupid question for the writer of this post so please pardon if you are a male (I didn't catch your gender)...but if you are indeed female have you ruled out pregnancy? I'm sure you have if you're a woman but I just wanted to check. When I feel sick that's the first thing my doctor/friends ask me.
  18. I need to find a non dairy/non soy milk substitute. Rice dream says it contains less than .002 gluten from barley but I didn't want to chance it. Anyone know of one that I can find locally rather than ordering online? If not, has anyone tried Vance's non dairy beverage? Is it good? Help! I need my milk for gluten-free cereal but want to go off dairy.
  19. I actually think my biggest concern is ordering meat. Most restaurants use a grill baste or seasoning on their meat that is not gluten-free. Therefore, wouldn't they have to cook your meat in a completely separate place? Or can they just clean the grill, then slap on your burger?
  20. Oh how funny! I teach at Agua Fria! I am the choir director. You should call me sometime and we'll chat! Go online to the school website and you can find me under choir.....don't want to say too much on the web. Maybe we can get a support group together or at least organize shopping trips when we buy gluten-free foods further away from home.

    ARCHIVED Nausea

I sometimes find myself nauseated or with a tummy ache even with gluten-free foods. I personally have IBS, anyway, so I think that is the cause of my woes. I certainly feel less sick than when I ate wheat, but I don't think for us tummy sufferers, it ever goes away. I think we will always be prone to stomach problems. Hang in there and try not to eat out...
  22. I agree with Judy. I don't care what a doctor says why should you eat something that makes you feel awful? It's not like you can't eat healhty gluten-free. Plus, the scope they give you only goes down so far. I think it only goes about one foot into your small instestine and maybe your damage is farther down than that. My upper endoscopy isn't until Feb...
  23. Oh dizzy, this is too funny. I live in Goodyear. Right around the corner from you! I'm looking for a doctor. I'll look for this Dr. Shapiro. We could even know each other. I teach at a local high school-funny!!
  24. Yeah, I'm going to ask the hotel to put a microwave and fridge in my room. I don't mind paying extra if I can stay healthy on this trip! lol I'm sure there will be a McDonald's within walking distancre-isn't there always? Thanks for all of your great tips. I'll order plain meat and ask the restaurant to please clean their grill and use a fresh spatula-that...
  25. What will shampoo do to bother celiacs? I thought it was OK to touch your skin. Is it just some people that are bothered, or should we all get gluten-free shampoo?
