  1. My staying away from McDonald's has nothing to do with weight issues. I don't have a weight problem; I'm 5'1 and 110 lbs...just about normal I think for my height. I can't eat it because of the disgusting things I learned about the content of the food and all of the sugar in it. I could care less about the fat content! When I watched how the chicken nuggests...
  2. I wrote a post on this a couple of weeks ago. I went gluten-free Jan. 1. about a week later I was getting dizzy, light-headed, and my vision was weird. It's gotten better but I still get dizzy when I eat. I have asked both my GI doc AND regular practitioner. They took all kinds of tests. I don't have diabetes, no thyriod problem, nothing abnormal, no anemia...
  3. I don't eat them, either, and I used to love oatmeal! Every time I feel a complaint about the diet coming on, I just think: Is it worth it to have something that makes me feel so bad? So I stay away from anything questionable. I'm even giving up gluten-free restaurants now, which is my saddest moment ever.
  4. BTW, I love the blood type diet. It flat out says type o's are often allergic to wheat/gluten and should avoid them. Makes sense to me. Plus, since eliminating corn and dairy I feel even better.
  5. Much prefer rice pasta over corn. Corn also is a food I should avoid as a type O blood. I love the blood type diet. it flat out says type o's are aften allergic to wheat/gluten. boy, were they right!
  6. Have you guys ever seen "Supersize Me?" If not, watch it soon. It's very enlightening. Despite McDonald's being one of only restaurants I know that have gluten-free menus, I can't eat there again after watching this movie. Not even when traveling.
  7. Absoluuuutely. PF Chang's in Scottsdale, AZ has a celiac manager and supposedly her staff is great. I've been there twice; the first time I had a great experience. This past Tuesday I went again and had a terrible waiter. I think I ingested gluten because I wasn't feeling right. Tonight I had some of the leftovers and felt sick again. I have now lost my...
  8. It's almost a month since I posted last, and I still have awful dreams every night. For my IBS my doctor prescribed Elavel? sp? and I haven't started it yet but it's supposed to help you sleep as well as help your IBS..it's an antidepressant. Anyone else take this?
  9. Are digestive enyzmes over the counter? I'd like to try them but don't know where to get them. I left a message about them with my doctor but he didn't call back. I attribute that to poor office staff.... Anyway, any help would be appreciated, jennifer
  10. Eating gluten free doesn't have to be bad..it's only hard in the beginning, while you're learning. Just read posts on this board and you will learn so much! I shop at my local grocery store and Trader Joe's usually, and online a bit. there are so many great products. And, you can have meats. Go get some fresh chicken and marinade it with mushrooms, wine...

    ARCHIVED Foods You Miss

Make pizza and lasagne with soy cheese instead of dairy. I'd buy that..I can seem to find it..any recommendations?
  12. What is Enterolab and where/how can I get it???
  13. Kaiti, Tell me more about this Prometheus test. Do you have to be eating gluten to test positive? I really don't think I can do this endoscopy. I just can't bear the thought of going back to gluten. Really, only people who've had continuous stomach aches for years like some of us can possibly understand how traumatic it is to eat stuff that makes you sick...
  14. Type O+ here
  15. These guys are right. It might be frustrating at first but believe me, there are TONS of things you can eat that are delicious. After awhile, you will think normal food is gross!
  16. Well, the thing is this: only ONE of the three blood tests came back positive. My doctor said that means I only have a 50% chance of having it. He said if all my blood tests came back abnormal that would mean I have a 97% chance...but right now it's only 50/50. He said he realizes that I can eat gluten-free if I like it and that's not a problem but he said...
  17. OK I am going to be a vitamin snob for a minute here so I hope I don't offend anyone; it's just that my doctor's influence on my is apparently great. My doctors/friends and I all agree that the vitamins you get at GNC, Vitamin World, etc. are not good vitamins; they are watered down versions of the real deal and not worthy of purchasing. I buy TwinLab vitamins...
  18. Before going gluten-free, my problem was IBS (going to the bathroom all the time and bad pain). Since going gluten-free my pain is pretty much gone but I still have the IBS...sometimes I have to go to the bathroom 4 times in an hour, etc. But I never really had nausea before I started the diet. Now I feel nauseated after I eat. I think it's because my...
  19. I have weird pain in my right side since going gluten-free, too! How odd; I've been worried that it was something serious buy my doctors have not wanted to do any tests. I feel a little better after reading your post, thanks! Check your diet, like the others said. You could be lactose intolerant OR corn or other food allergies could be making you sick....
  20. Hi all, Thanks for your great comments! They are helping me! I confess, today I have not yet had gluten. I couldn't do it AGAIN after last night. But it's OK...since my test is not until March 15 I have a little leway (sp?). The doc said when I get to two to three weeks before I have to be really serious and eat it all day. I'm going to start that probably...
  21. Thanks. I will keep posting on this as a way to vent my problems of the next 6 weeks! I really appreciate your support. I had Mac n cheese tonight..it didn't even taste good to me to eat real pasta again, oddly enough. So far it's three hours later and no stomach ache but my hands turned red and I have a slight headache. Oh boy, six weeks and counting...
  22. I can't wait until March 15. I have to eat my old normal diet until then. My endoscopy was to be Feb 1 but since I've been gluten-free I have to eat "regular" again until the test. What a bummer. I am miserable at the thought of feeling bad for the next 6 weeks, but the doc says so, so I will:( Any tips on how to control the tummy aches?
  23. I'm using Pacific Almond milk substitute with my cereal. It's gluten-free , non dairy, AND Soy free! It tastes great. Also, Vance's makes a milk substitute just like Pacific. Ener-G granola mix is so good I eat it straight out of the box as a snack. I just ordered a 12 pack and got it today. It is a bit expensive, but so is organic gluten-free cereal.
  24. I think I'll stick to the prepackaged. I hate to say it, but I worry too much about cross contamination.
  25. Does anyone know of a grape jelly, organic probably, that doesn't contain corn starch or syrup? I'm trying to go off corn, too, and I don't know what brands are gluten-free AND don't contain corn products.
