BTW there is a website call SS & gluten-free ( sugar substitute and Gluten free) additionally they have other allergen free recipes. I have only made 1 recipe from it but they were good cookies.
-
Many gluten-free recipes call for agave and Honey. I have never seen a gluten-free recipe call for a sugar substitution like Stevia.
-
Most people know they are spending their money on the receiving organization more so than the item. So , yes I would buy them if it was a charity I was supporting.
I would start your signage with that in mind. ie: " Support our great cause and buy these delicious homemade cupcakes made Allergen free with extra LOVE "

Is gelatin safe, Maybe a fancy Jello mold nicely decorated with candy etc...
Or sorbet ?

I like Betty Crocker's gluten-free brownies, but that's it.
Ditto

can you let us know the brands you had the problems with, as we can look out for it ourselves , thanks.

My Indian friend makes this fantastic lemon rice if you google Indian recipes you will find it. I have made it without the mustard seeds, daal and cumin seeds and it was still very good.
Basically it's onion saut
-
Simple answer is NO it's not true in anyway.
-
You could also do a rice and red beans , flavor it up with some cumin, chilipowder, garlic powder salt and pepper. My sister adds a jar of salsa to hers but I prefer to spice it up. It will keep at room temp for awhile.
Add a meat and its a meal.

[i agree add some chicken to your potato salad or cubed ham serve on romaine leafs or quartered iceberg and it's definitely a yummy meal

I made this fpr a bbq 2 weeks ago Black bean salad (don't like black bean use pink or cannelloni...)
1 or 2 cans black beans rinsed well
1/4 to 1/2 green and red bell pepper finely diced
1/3 to 1/2 onion finely diced
1box frozen corn rinse in warm water till defrosted (do not cook)
1/4 to 1/2 cup wishbone italian dressing
toss well
Add some chicken of your own you brought and this is a filling healthy meal, and make a large batch for all to enjoy.
easy, travels well and inexpensive

I had never purchased it before, wanted to try it bc everyone raves about it. I didn't know they had both varieties. You'd think after 5 years I'd be a little bit smarter and read the stinkin package!
Last week I gave my dd Bell and Evans chicken tenders (not gluten-free) the darn boxes are sooo similar. Thankfully my husband caught it before I gave her seconds.
I think sometimes I just get relaxed and am not shopping consciously, like driving.

Chicken taco soup served with Tortilla chips, sour cream and guacomole. You can make a big batch in advance and warm it up in crock pot the day of the move.
Brownies with ice cream for dessert.

I had to laugh when I saw this but there is a bread in the Market Basket chain called Rudi's gluten free bread. Does anyone know what it tastes like? Is it similar to Udi's or did they just mimic the name for advertising reasons. hahahahaha
-
I've recently gone gluten-free and am seeing how fast the $$ will add up with buying bread. I really like Udi's bread. But between my son and I a loaf doesn't last too long! Has anyone found a mix or recipe that tastes like Udi's frozen breads? Is it more economical to buy the frozen bread or invest in a bread maker and flours/mixes?
In the meantime shop around for the bread . I found a market that specializes in herbal medicine and natural foods that sells all Udi's including the hot dog and hamburg rolls and they have sales about every 2 months. Last month it was $4.25 a loaf. Try looking up all your local markets and call them.

We also were told a whole grain sandwich a day was ample. Our DD was eating about twice that a day when the blood work came back positive. So we were able to reduce it somewhat before the biopsy per GI . I begged for something and she said this was fine.

WOW a sleepover camp , I can't even fathom that right now.
I would send in a pot , a pan and cookie sheet labeled for gluten-free use only that way you have some assurance of limited cross contamination. If you are sending in pasta send in a colander also.
I use Annies gluten-free mac and cheese, target sells it the cheapest around me.
Also Rice is easy and hard to contaminate as is baked potatoes or Ore-Ida French fries .
Will they let you send in individual frozen servings of pre-marinaded meat that they just have to cook (note to cook everything in foil to be safe) I do this for camping and it works great
If I think of anything else I will post
OOPs looks like Poppi covered most things. I agree with the flowers and brownies and praise, If someone did that for me I would remember it every time I saw their child.

@ Noomers -- where do you live? We're in Nebraska -- can't seem to find anything anywhere near here..... That would be awesome!
@ Mizzo -- Yes, they'll be at a sleepover camp for the week.
@ Poppi & Mizzo -- Thank you for the ideas!!! I emailed the director of the camp, & she said there's freezer & frig. space we can use & the cook will prepare everything we bring for the kids!! Yeah! They are being SO helpful! Do either of you have a good mac n cheese recipe you like? That sounds yummy! I'm thinking I will make big batches of things like you suggested, Poppi, & send personal meal sizes in aluminum mini loaf pans.
Thank you all again for your help & support!!!!

That is a much discussed debate. Can't wait to see the responses.

The getting of the diagnosis is the hard part. We also had 2 years of pedi appt.'s because we were being treated as a diet issue. My DD is overweight and always has been in the 90th percentile with high BMI. So we were instructed to put her on low carb/high fiber and whole grains, more veggies diet ( it took me a year to get her to eat green beans without the pschyed=out vomiting) . When her stomach pains got to be near daily I demanded a GI. From there it was 2 Dr. visits, bloodwork and appt's in 3 different hospitals in a month.
Good news, Once diagnosed you start eating right and healing. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
BTW you do the best you can , sane may not be appropriate. I went a little crazy before finally saying to the DR's your missing something get me a specialist.
Good luck!

Sorry don't have a specific recipe but Besan flour(chickpea) can be used to make flatbreads. if you google indain recipes you can probably find some. I'll bet you can lighten it up with a little rice flour and use more oil and omit the egg.
ANyone try anything like this?

How about meringues or individual pavlovas? Gives you license to be creative and fun to look at and eat.
This is a geat suggestion, I have had peppermint meringue cookies and they were fabulous. Don't have a recipe but google it.
You can make a meringue tower, like a cupcake tower.
