  1. Here's a recipe for Hommade Mayo that doesn't use any vinegar: Open Original Shared Link I want to try this myself so I started to search and then realized some mayo recipes have vinegar added. I have read that if you use olive oil it MUST be the LIGHT kind, not virgin or extra virgin or regular. Regular (or virgin) Olive oil tends to taste racid after...
  2. Also in the past I have just drizzled olive oil and then squeezed a fresh lemon over the salad. I find this works if you have a salad with a lot of things that taste okay without dressing. It doesn't really do much if your salad is all lettuce. Here's one of my favorite salad recipes that uses just oil and lemon for flavor: Open Original Shared Link...
  3. Can you have eggs? You could make your own mayo with eggs and oil (canola or LIGHT Olive oil) and then add different spices to it. I have not tried it but someone posted a while back they do this and add dill to make their own ranch dressing.

  5. I once read on here that doctors get the equivalent of maybe one 30 minute lecture on celiac in med school if they get that at all. With all the other major illnesses (like heart disease, cancer, etc) they have to take entire courses. So the chance of getting a doctor that knows about celiac is slim. That's no excuse of course. I tend to think that if...
  6. LOL! Thou shalt not kiss thy non-gluten free significant other after the meal. They shalt undergo a purification ritual of teeth brushing first. Else they be uncleanth and shall contaminate you with their gluteny uncleaness.
  7. Thou shalt ask if the fries and or chips are fried in the same oil with other breaded items. Thou shalt assure thy fast food worker they will not get into trouble if they tell you the truth before hand despite the restaurant's policy that the fries are "supposed to be" made in separate fryers.
  8. Thou shalt not let thy non-gluten free companions touch your food. Thou shalt slappith their hands if they try.
  9. Sounds good! Do you think you can get the recipe to post? I love those simple recipes. They are healthy and naturally gltuen free usuualy too.

  11. 13. Cuban black beans and rice (congri): Open Original Shared Link
  12. Yes there are lots of ways to make them. That's just the first recipe that popped up without a bunch of additives. Many recipes also use things like powdered soup mixes to flavor the meat which could have gluten and other junk in them. I like my recipes as natural and simple as possible. These are so easy to change up to your tastes with whatever spices...
  13. 12. Egyptian lentils and rice: Open Original Shared Link This makes a TON of food. Very cheap and easy though.
  14. 11. Porcupine meatballs: Open Original Shared Link Heinz and Pacific foods make gluten-free tomato soup (not sure they are dairy free) but they are not condensed. May have to leave out water to try the recipe above. I have not made these since going gluten free but I think I want to try it now.
  15. 9. Winter carnival: 1/4 c. onion chopped 1/4 c. green pepper chopped 1 lb. ground beef 2 cups cooked rice 1 can tomatoes in sauce OR one jar spaghetti sauce 1/3 c. Karo syrup 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. chili powder 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 bay leaf Brown ground beef until cooked through. Add onions and peppers and cook until cooked through. Add rice...
  16. For chicken and rice soup I make this: Open Original Shared Link Using chicken instead of turkey of course. I don't really have a recipe for stir fry or vegetable fried rice I make it a little differnt each time. For fried rice start out with cooked cold rice (leftovers work best). Chop up onions, carrot and whatever other veggie you want to use....
  17. Sometimes I feel like all I eat is rice! I love it, but I'm always loking for new ways to fix it or use it in recipes. So I thought we could make a list of recipes or meal ideas using rice. I'll start: 1. Chicken and rice soup 2. Vegetable fried rice 3. Chicken fried rice 4. Stir fry over rice 5. Stuffed bell peppers 6. Coconut milk rice (make...
  18. You are not the first to have bad side effects from singulair. Check out this post:
  19. The King Arhtur Pizza crust recipe (using their AP gluten-free flour) is Excellent. It's the best gluten-free pizza crust I have made. It is time/labor intensive but so worth it. Another one I like is Chebe. Chebe is very different gives a great chewy crust and is good when you want pizza fast. I tried Bob's Red Mills and it was barely edible to me...
  20. Well it could have been much worse. She could have told you you can have the white bread instead! at least she knew that wheat was in everything and you were more likely to get safe food.
  21. When dealing with people preparing my food I say allergy sometimes because they tend to take that word more seriously than if I said intolerance. Plus, I actually have other food allergies that are serious so that makes it easier to just say, "I have multiple food allergies and cannot eat ______." Rather than explain the difference between food allergies...
  22. Thanks! I was guessing Sugar for the S and I would have been wrong, LOL.
  23. Thanks for the recipe but what is BP and S?
  24. Now I want brownies too! Anyone have a gluten free, soy free AND dairy free version? I have bakers chocolate and cocoa powder right now, need to order some dairy free/soy free chocolate chips. Mmmmm chocolate!
