  1. How many communes will we have? I'd LOVE to make the sauces and would aim for 100 choices! We could do it. Seriously.
  2. Oh, yes. I could re-create that and so could you. What I would do is oven roast tomatoes with fresh thyme, season and blend with a chile en adobo and homemade mayo. I do this type of thing all the time! I almost never buy condiments or sauces or dips. There is just something soooooo darned good about fries and dip!
  3. Open Original Shared Link British history fascinates me as does Catherine. I actually have respect for her and admire her in ways. What do you think?
  4. The vinegar just adds a lovely acidic quality that is so needed otherwise the jam would almost be cloyingly sweet. Sort of like adding salt to cookies or lemon juice when making jam, both of which are necessary. Man, I am a condiment addict! Seriously. Make my own mustards, numerous ketchups, BBQ sauces, nuoc cham, everything except for Worcestershire...
  5. Indeed I do recall how much you love your good ol' CP! If you try it let us know - I'm curious what you would think about it.
  6. Exactly. I've tasted worse things, that is for certain.
  7. Balsamic but next time want to try cider. I've made other recipes before, too, but this is the simplest.
  8. Oh my yes. You'd better triple the batch! I found myself eating bacon jam straight from the jar last week. It somehow managed to leap into my mouth. I couldn't help it.
  9. I love perogies and have only had gluten-free ones a few times. My favourite filling is potatoes and lots of Cheddar, boiled and fried with caramelized onions. Thanks for posting this! This looks like a great version.
  10. Why, certainly! You absolutely MUST make this. http://leitesculinaria.com/82690/recipes-bacon-jam.html
  11. Digging out from another snowstorm. ARGH!!! But I get to cook which makes me happy. Tonight we are going to Thailand: Yum Woon Sen (Spicy Glass Noodles with Crispy Pork) Thai Marinated Cucumbers Am also making chile oil today. That ought to heat things up a bit!
  12. I would gladly come on over for fish with you any day! Since our trips overseas my husband has fallen in love with fish in a big way which makes me a happy girl. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE fish (done properly).
  13. Today I heard that Canadians spend $1,600 on average on Christmas gifts which is far more than what we spend (we have small families with wee children). Don't get me wrong - I love the spirit of giving - but I believe it can be done in ways that do not put people into debt. What my husband and I like to do is give to those in need in third-world countries...
  14. You can have as much snow as you want. Honestly. We've had lots of snow and cold for six solid weeks and have about five more months ahead of this. Snow looks pretty for awhile but it gets sickening having to bundle up all the time and do the sidewalk and driveway every other day. The streets are slick. Can you tell I dislike our winters? If we only...
  15. My husband did some spoiling today. He cubed up some potatoes for hash then added ham, sauteed mushrooms and softly-scrambled eggs with scallions. He had his with melted Cheddar; mine was without. I just love that type of lunch, especially on a cold -20C blizzarding day.
  16. IH, your meal isn't exactly bland or hideous, either!
  17. That's how it is up here in Alberta. Just a little different than usual...
  18. Miso-Glazed Blue Cod en Papillote Carrot Puree with BACON Jam Roasted Asparagus with Lemon and Caper Vinaigrette
  19. Sora, thanks for thinking of this thread - I had forgotten! Not having dessert tonight but I am making the best chocolate chunk cookies on the planet tomorrow for my massage therapist. She practically begged me for them last week.
  20. Yes! The chairs are waiting to be filled. Just wondering when you all are coming! If you look closely at the picture you'll see that the biggest and saggiest parts of my thighs are very well camouflaged by the snow. Same with my tummy. Plus Sora sure knows how to photoshop!
  21. Not this year but in the past these are amongst things my husband who squeals like a girl has done for me (well, I mean Christmas gifts): - blindfolded me and taken me to a cooking class at a swanky place - found a book I desperately wanted and could not get in North America but managed to order it from the UK - found counted cross stitch patterns by...
  22. Irish, just go on thinking my thighs are smaller...
  23. Sora, I can't stand it! That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny! How did you know where to look for me? Wait til I tell my husband you found me. I am as white as that; in fact, I blend in with the snow quite well. Snow can be great camouflage. And I do have glasses and brown hair. That bikini only comes out in winter. You should see what I wear...
