  2. Pinto bean soup with mulato chiles over rice with fresh sheep's cheese on top.
  3. OK - where is this recipe for pulled pork in root beer? Inquiring minds need to know!
  4. I love that you write like you speak, conversationally. It's cute. But the resenting feeling like a girl bit sure isn't cute. I, too, am dealing with the same resentment and am cranky about it. Downright cantankerous. This morning I warned my husband NOT to bug me. At all. Not today or tomorrow. At least. You just never know what I might do!...
  5. Banana, Raspberry, Mango and Coconut Smoothie
  6. Tuna Salad on Toast (the salad had capers, lemon juice, celery...)
  7. Last night we had: Grilled Cumberland Sausages (local) with Caramelized Onions Parmesan Mash Steamed Green Beans And tonight: Tamarind Glazed Lamb Ribs Roasted Herbed Potato Wedges Steamed Broccoli
  8. I like to make my own. For the odd time I buy it, I buy buckwheat, sweet potato, millet and quinoa pastas. I dislike straight rice or corn pasta very much. All the breads I make contain several flours such as quinoa, garfava, chickpea, millet, buckwheat, chestnut, sweet potato, sorghum, amaranth...
  9. Rice flour gnocchi with picante tomato sauce from my fresh tomatoes.

  11. Today I am making myself Duck a la King with the rest of the roast duck leftovers. Yum!
  12. As I was asymptomatic, in order for me to believe the doctor about my diagnosis through genetic testing I had to get the endoscopy. My doctor practically forced me to. Talk about denial! I also had the colonoscopy to rule out other stuff. The endoscopy was easy peasy. The colonoscopy was almost easy peasy but the prep was not exactly exhilerating. It...
  13. Vietnamese Wide Rice Noodles with Ham, Shiitakes and Bean Sprouts (using the shiitake broth in the sauce) Steamed Broccoli
  14. Fancy schmancy duck breast salad - wilted greens with seared duck breast using some of its fat to create a red wine vinaigrette to which toasted pine nuts that have been crushed to the vinaigrette; rounds of goat cheese coated in dry crumbs and quickly seared. Not only that but plum chutney to go with all. Incredible.
  15. And my opinion. Yes, I'm also a food snob. But if you go to a good restaurant, you will be able to have about 75% of what is on the menu as it is naturally gluten free. No need for flour for sauces, for example. No deep fryers. No breaded stuff. And at these good restaurants, there is an actual chef who often knows about celiac, CC and so on. Sure...
  16. Vichyssoise soup. Simply delicious.
  17. New Potato Hash with Poached Egg and Salsa Fresca
  18. Peking Duck (labour intensive but it is a labour of love!) Wild Chanterelle and Porcini Risotto Japanese Cucumber Salad
  19. Vichyssoise Soup because it is chilly and raining. Love this weather!
  20. In puff pastry you should be able to see hundreds of delicate layers - that is what the butter and folding are for. I think in puff pastry there are nearly 1,000 layers! Puff pastry is far different from pie pastry or Danish pastries. It is light, puffy and filled with wonderful layers. What type of filling are you using? Is is savoury or sweet? There...
  21. Same thing exactly as my August 19 post: Baguette with olive oil from Croatia, fleur de sel, prosciutto, fresh sheep cheese, fresh figs, chestnut honey from Croatia and toasted walnuts. Absolutely amazing. Everyone must try this at least once!
  22. Hmmmm...I've done a lot of baking, including puff pastry, and am very curious about the outcome because the photos do not look like puff pastry actually should (sort of like flat gluten-free biscuits). They almost look like flat discs to me. I wonder whether it would be worth it or not. I can tell by looking at the dough it is gluten-free dough which acts...
