  1. I've tried them but to be honest could only have a few because I really dislike them compared to others. Perhaps if they were slathered in melted cheese... However, that is just a personal opinion so they are worth a try. Others seem to like them and have found them to be safe. I'm just used to homemade and therefore am a bit spoiled.
  2. Welcome here! You will find we are a very interesting and varied bunch indeed. Many folks are so knowledgable and helpful. I was diagnosed nearly 1.5 years ago and in the first month of my diagnosis I learned more here than from any other source put together. Heck - that still applies! This journey we are on is a process, not to mention a ginormous learning...
  3. Irish Heart has been a blessing and support to me as well so I was SOOOOOOO happy to see her posting! Welcome home, IH!
  4. I regularly go to Kinnikinnick in Edmonton to pick up their new soft bread. It is my new favourite bread, even better than Undi's and Glutino Genius in my opinion (and I am very, very particular about bread). Their baguettes are also pretty good - not as good as mine but still! They do have a small bakery area in the front where they sell cupcakes...
  5. Provencal Roast Chicken with Olives, Lemon and White Wine Mashed Potatoes with Swiss Chard New Green Beans (from my garden) with Maître d'Hôtel Butter I am making mango lime jam today which will be perfect with Manchego cheese on crostini!
  6. Pan-Fried Shrimp with Lemon Dill Sauce Broccoli Rabe with Roasted Garlic Asian Noodles with Peanut Dressing
  7. Speaking of the source of that, I had a real-life "can you spare a square?" thing happen to me while in an airport bathroom. The woman in the next stall asked, "Do you have a square to spare?" I said, "No. I have no square to spare." But I really did. We went on and on. We had no idea who each other was but it was amusing to us as well as others who...
  8. This celiac stuff certainly takes a lot of planning! I hope your vacation is even better than you expect.
  9. Oh, I love sole. It is such a blank canvas.
  10. You do use cedar planks only once as they char a lot, even with much soaking, and become pretty useless. In good restaurants the same thing but who knows with others?
  11. I am thankful I am not as tired as so many here but daily pain and coping with it makes me very tired. I'm done by 2 PM but make wonderful dinner in bits and pieces, when I can. If I feel well for a few hours I really take advantage of it. My mind rarely gets a chance to go dormant as I am always learning/doing something. I rarely watch TV - maybe...
  12. How awesome that you had a lightbulb moment! That is brilliant. Get it? Anyway, once you come to the realization that you must stop focusing on the negative aspects of your health you are most of the way there already. Once I truly got that through my noggin things started falling into place. I unsubscribed to the fibro and chronic pain e-newsletters...
  13. Tonight I am making: Pureed Soup of Carrot and Sweet Potato with Citrus and Spices Black Plum and Mango Salad with Lavender-Infused Honey
  14. It is not easy, believe me. But I have learned to cope with it and try not to let it get me down. I CHOOSE to have good days. My Mom has horrible arthritis pain and she is really struggling. I really feel for you - having to deal with celiac symptoms + arthritis would be terrible. It's one thing to live with one sort of pain but quite another to...
  15. I forgot to mention I feel very good in ways because I have conquered many fears. Pain has forced me to reflect on my life and make some changes. Now I take care of my body more than ever before. I have always been very empathetic but now in different ways as I can relate and understand. This better equips me to honestly help others. Though this pain...
  16. I have always felt very good, actually, as a child and a teenager and as an adult. Until my accident five years ago which has caused serious pain ever since. Then due to inactivity for a year my muscles wasted and I am still trying to reverse the damage. And I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia which means that my body hurts from head to toe always...
  17. Great. We finally get to meet! Tomorrow I will make you a breakfast you will never forget. Same goes for lunch. Oh, and dinner which will be Thai or Cambodian inspired.
  18. OK. Will meet you at the airport at 1830 hours.
  19. YESSSSSSS!!!!!!! As much as I adore lamb, this is getting to be a bit much. The leg was a 7 pounder - we should have invited guests instead of tackle it ourselves. Hopefully I can make something else tomorrow. The offer of your coming up here still stands. No shoveling required!
  20. Leftover Lamb Shepherd's Pie (with red wine sauce) Lime Cabbage Slaw
  21. Grilled aged cheddar, ham, blueberry "jam" and Dijon sandwich. Baked beans.
  22. Sure! One of my favourites is nectarine and caramelized onion but I cannot recall what book it's from (I have 500!). How about Bacon and Bourbon Jam to start? Open Original Shared Link
  23. A lot of dairy bothers me as well except for aged cheeses. I drink lactose-free milk and find that cream, sour cream and yogurt bother me very little - they contain less lactose. Goat cheese also contains less lactose. I went dairy free for six months and then re-introduced it back into my diet. No issues for almost a year then just started to have...
  24. The first thought that went through my mind when I read this post was that you did not fail - you did what you could. I, too, believe that it was most likely cross contamination. Maybe give it some time before you eat out again. And there is a good chance next time will be successful! Eating somewhere other than your own home is always a risk, unfortunately...
  25. Amen, Sister! What she says comes from her soul with the best of intentions, offering hope from one who has been there. And to kswan - there is always, always hope. Do not allow yourself to ever think otherwise! Tomorrow is a new day.
