  1. From your symptoms, and from what I've read about Celiac disease, in my opinion (since I have no medical leg to stand on ) it's very likely you are also gluten intolerant. Once your tests are done, I'd highly recommend a strict gluten-free diet and see how you feel. Even eating gluten occasionally will cause problems, because your body will react to even...
  2. Wow, hopefully once your gut has healed (if that is the problem), your diet can become less restrictive. Yikes, sounds scary, but I'll check it out. The sinus problems aren't too bad, maybe a sick day off work once a month or so. If gluten is the problem, and these are your initial symptoms, I'd definately recommend staying off gluten...
  3. Ok, really shouldn't try post results from memory. I was wrong with the Lymphocyte levels - it's IgE that's low. Results (Normal Range) : White blood count - 4.70 x 10^9/l (4.0 - 11.0) Total erythrocyte - 4.51 x 10^12/l (3.8 - 5.8) Platelet count - 258 x 10^9/l (140-440) RBC look normal, platelets normal S-IgE - 2.18 IU/l (10.00 - 150) - noted...
  4. Not taking supplements My GP didn't seem concerned, but I'll raise it with the specialist. Oh dear...thanks for the warning! I'm taking one at night, so hopefully I'll sleep off the worst effect. I haven't noticed too much drowsiness during the day. I'm definitely not going to take it long term - I don't believe in taking meds to control...
  5. Thanks for the reassurance Yay - I managed to get my blood test results today! From 2007, when I first started with GI issues, my blood work was normal. Platelets "adequate", Iron normal, RBC normal. The "Celiac tests" that I thought was done, was actually a "Gluten IgE" test - very thorough. /sarcasm. With the new blood tests done last...
  6. I have quite a mysterious problem, in addition to the normal GI issues I've been having. I've self-diagnosed that I'm intolerant to histamine in any form, as well as foods that tend to stimulate the release of histamine directly from Mast cells (specific cells involved in the immune reaction). My symptoms are severe headaches, sinus pain, extreme...
  7. Update on my situation, for anyone who's interested : Went to my very helpful GP a few days ago, because the D attacks were getting pretty nasty. Was also suffering from mild fever and chills/shaking whenever I had d, so I thought I might have a stomach bug on top of things - I'm calling these my "episodes", and they only seem to happen at night (Last...
  8. Nausea is a common symptom of stomach ulcers.... Does the nausea ease after you eat something, drink some milk? Or gets worse? It sounds weird, but try an antacid and see if that helps with the nausea? I had a friend who was suffering from constant nausea, turns out she was highly stressed out, and an endoscopy showed her stomach lining was completely...
  9. Thanks for the reply Mari! I really appreciate the advice - if my GI doesn't sort out the problem, I'll look into what you've mentioned.
  10. Give it a try, it can't hurt you! Taking control of your situation might make you feel better as well. I also want a positive result It somehow would make it so much easier following a strict diet knowing for sure...
  11. Haha, love your doctor! There is definitely advantages going to an older doctor - they've been around for so long, they've probably seen everything and anything that could affect the human body. Case in point - my mom saw a an older doc a few years ago, complaining of feeling ill and her face feeling sore. The doc took one look at her and said she...
  12. This is exactly me I had some bad episodes of stomach bugs/food poisoning end of last year, and ever since then I haven't been "normal". It's so frustrating going for a few days feeling perfect, and then having episodes for several days again. Currently waiting for scopes to be done, but I'm fairly sure my GI is going to diagnose IBS - aka "I don...
  13. Well I saw the GI specialist last week. Good news is he didn't feel any impaction this time around, bad news is he'll have to "have a look" to get a proper diagnosis. So 23rd June I'm going for a full endoscopy with biopsy, and colonoscopy - yay! He gave me some painkillers for the cramping pain, and normacol plus for the constipation/diarrhea. Oh...
  14. Wait, what? Malnutrition can lead to unpigmented hairs? Is there a gluten-related reason why I'm getting several white hairs in my 20s? I thought it was just bad luck/genes
  15. Well I'm basically just trying to get through each day until my appointment next week with a Gastroenterologist. I saw him a few years ago with generic stomach troubles - nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain and cramps etc. My GP did a blood test for Celiac, unfortunately I didn't get the actual results, just the "Tests were negative" response. He did...
