  1. Hi, Got more blood test results today... Compared them against those of two months ago. The only things that stand out (to my untrained eye) are the Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum which is now 528, which is slightly higher than it was in June (range is 70-400); and the TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) which has almost DOUBLED what it was in June (now 4....
  2. And then there's this one... Go in to doc (different GP) with severe Acute Pancreatitis of almost two weeks' duration, high fever, nausea, severe pain, incredible odorous diarrhea in technicolors of black & yellow hues, fatigue, even itchy cellulitis... and (male) Dr. surmises "You may have issues about aging." Right! (The only time I've seen him...
  3. Oh, forgot to mention this one: When you go in to Imaging Center for a mammogram, and the radiologist looks at your bare breasts and goes "Nice," with a sick grin on his face (and a thing hanging out of his nose)!!! --This really happened! And every time hence have always specified, "DO NOT LET DR. ____ ANYWHERE NEAR ME OR MY TESTS!"
  4. This is a great thread! Thanks for the laughs... Here's a couple: You go to the G.P. to look at a very red, sore fistula in your mouth, and he goes, "Wow! You should have somebody look at that!" (Then he hands you a referral slip to an Ear, Nose, Throat doc, saying "I think we both want to rule out cancer." You instead head straight to your dentist...
  5. Me too! :-)
  6. Hi cassP, Answered your questions via Messenger. And yes, last couple of blood tests did show Vitamin D deficiency and have been taking supplements. Don't think the tests done a few days ago addressed B12, so will have to get that tested. I also heard that Quinine/tonic water can calm restless legs and am thinking maybe it'd calm restless FEET, too.....
  7. After a colonoscopy a couple years ago, in which the doctor found no problems, I asked, half-dopey from the sedatives, "Then why am I having so many problems with my intestines??" and he said, "You have IBS, you need a high-fiber diet" and left me a nice little pamphlet about IBS. The only mention of Celiac/sprue or gluten was when *I* brought it up in the...
  8. "But still, what about the cravings?" Maybe your "Better Nature" knows that some of those things you are craving are not good for you, whereas your "More Wicked Side" really really WANTS them! LOL. :-) Seriously, I think something like that does go on. Our body "knows" even before our mind accepts. Sometimes we can start to get symptoms before we even...
  9. How much B12 is needed by people with celiac/insomnia, to get relief and sleep? I've been taking B12 (not sublingual) for years, along with B6 and Folic Acid (and several other health supplements), for eye support to offset glaucoma. I take it in the morning, not at night, and it's 500mcg. I think I read somewhere that this form of B12, cyanocobalamin...
  10. Hi folks, Have noticed several threads about Celiac/gluten intolerance and insomnia, and wanted to post something specific about Insomnia and FEET... Have been plagued with insomnia ever since acquiring C.F.S. (over two decades ago), but lately the insomnia is coupled with the most annoying ITCHING and "ANTSY" (TINGLING) STUFF going on in the BOTTOMS...
  11. Hello Twinkle-toez, You wrote: "I'm being checked out for MS and neurological problems as I have alot of symptoms consistent with CNS demylenation" as well as "I also used to do diet coke..." You might want to research ASPARTAME and DIET SODAS and HEALTH PROBLEMS they can cause. Diet Coke Ingredients: Carbonated Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup...
  12. Skylark wrote, "You seem to be assuming that it is some chemical causing you problems. Cola flavoring contains vanilla, citrus oil, and cinnamon, all of which can be allergenic. I'm still betting on the sugar." --Could be. Don't recall using the word "chemical"; was just wondering if caramel coloring bothers folks. (Will continue to monitor and note...
  13. Just wanted to add that what got me started on my tangled thinking in the original post in this thread was this: I noticed that MANY of the substances that "set me off" are THICKENERS, like CARRAGEENAN, WHEY, PECTIN. Then I wondered if their chemical composition is similar to that of GLIADIN/GLUTEN? (Too bad I never took Chemistry or Molecular Biology in...
  14. Lots of great answers here. Thanks. Plenty of "food for thought"--hopefully none of it will cause an allergic reaction. LOL. Skylark wrote: "The only things gliadin antibodies have been documented to cross-react to are casein and aveenin (oat protein)." Thanks for this info. Am really going to have to take seriously the need to refrain from dairy ...
  15. Something's been bothering me for the past couple days as I read so many postings in these threads that describe multiple sensitivities and allergies, above and beyond gluten intolerance and Celiac Disease... Will try to put my question into words, sounding it out as I go, and hope my question is not too obtuse... First, an example of something similar...
  16. Hi, Skylark. Yes, that "natural flavorings" thing is always worrisome. I don't know why FDA allows such vague terminology in the ingredients listings on foods. Why can't they just tell us WHAT it is that we are ingesting? All too often, "natural flavorings" or "natural spices" just means monosodium glutamate or something else that can cause problems for...
  17. Hi Michelle, You asked "Do other types of corn bother you?" I hope not, because I grew up in "corn country" and am practically "addicted" to corn. (Yes, I know: Often the foods we love the most can be the ones we're actually allergic to...) Anyway, I've been wondering lately if CORN might be a problem, and will try to cut back or eliminate it for a while...
  18. Wondering if anybody here has noticed a problem after ingesting foods containing Caramel coloring? For some reason, drinking a caffeine-free Pepsi seems to bother my eyes (glaucomatous) and was wondering if others have any problems with caramel? Found this at www.Gluten-free Casein-free.com/unacceptable.htm: "Caramel Color****(MAY indicate...
  19. This is an old thread, but wanted to revive it long enough to say that both an aunt and an uncle on my father's side had Parkinson's (Palsy), and my father died from Colon Cancer. Am beginning to suspect that they all had undiagnosed Celiac Disease from early on that progressed to these devastating conditions. As for Michael Fox's Parkinson's disease,...
  20. By the way, a related problem that plagued me during those early CFS-years, which has improved, was that I lost the ability to type! (Dyslexia or uncoordinated brain hemispheres at play, apparently...) This was devastating as my line of work involved editing/typing all day long and my typing speed with about 99.9% accuracy was around 115 wpm. Suddenly my...
  21. Hi Juliebove, That ADD thing is sooo frustrating. After I contracted sudden-onset CFS (as a result of a major flu and other stressors, including death of mother) and before I stopped ingesting gluten (several years in between these events), I went through YEARS of ADD. It was so painful and frustrating. I would sit at my cluttered desk, start to write a...
  22. HI Skylark, Thanks for the PIP tip! Must have had "images" turned off that day, because the little "pips" are quite visible now. Sometimes I turn off "images" in order to load things faster on various sites; probably forgot to turn them back on for this site. And yes, the .png-format images are showing up just fine. Thanks again.
  23. Hi, gary'sgirl, Thanks for your reply. I have tried Melatonin in the past, but it tends to give me a headache; apparently it crosses the blood-brain barrier and maybe that's why it gave me a headache, not sure. A tea that is helpful is chamomile; chamomile is included in Calms Forte tablets. (Also passion flower and hops, along with the oats.) Hyland...
  24. LOL, cassP! Thanks for your red-cheek summary. In my case, I don't think hormones or alcohol had anything to do with it. I suspect in my case it might have something to do with allergies or acidity, since those stinko-Gingko tablets *always* make my cheeks red and bumpy, and I think I'm either allergic to something in them or maybe they're very acidic and...
