  1. OOPS - I thought this first post of mine on this topic had disappeared...I couldn't locate it afterwards ...that's why I added the other "lip product" post...includng only what I was certain of- All of the additional stuff I posted here came from posts on this site and other good Net sources, so it should all be ok...If anyone sees a problem with anything...
  2. Hi, all, Well...Being new to all of this, I have been most concerned with lipsticks/glosses/chap lip products, etc...as far as gluten in cosmetics goes... So, I would like for this "Thread" to only discuss those products, if possible. This is what I have found out on my own and gathered from these posts/other Net sources, etc: (Please add any add...
  3. Dear celiac3270, THANKS! Great resource! Hey...I know you are having surgery today...I am sending love your way... Happy Valentine's Day, Coult! Gina
  4. Dear Bailey, OK...here's how I see it: If you KNOW that you are genetically 'loaded' to have a negative immune reaction to a substance, why on Earth would you ever want to ingest it? As Stef said, also...how do you know if some other system, or systems, in your body isn't already being damaged, but you just don't have 'clinical' symptoms YET? I...
  5. Just wondered...do some people on here contact each other 'off the board?' Via e-mail...for more personal support? Just curious - Gina
  6. Happy Sunday, all: Thanks for the new posts, and continued warm welcomes! I SO enjoy hearing your stories...reading your recollections of 'the bad stuff' makes me feel 'not so alone'...but, I most enjoy hearing of your triumphs! "We, go, girls!" oops...and guys, too, 'out there' in cyber space.... Kaiti...thanks for asking about my...
  7. I believe the book the previous poster is refering to is entitled, "A Personal Touch On... Celiac Disease (The #1 Misdiagnosed Intestinal Disorder)," by Berlin, Stone. Best wishes with your research, Gina
  8. Hiya, again :-) I see George Dubbya has some young groupies on here... :-) Hey...I lived in Texas under his 'governorship.' NOT a pretty picture... Anyway...enuf politics...let us stick to the real reasons we are here...I didn't mean for my little friendly jabs at Kaiti to turn into a love-fest for (ugh...I truly hate to HAVE to call him this) "our...
  9. Quick reply... Here is a link for a the discussion of this topic - There are numerous references contained in it - perhaps there is something there for you? Open Original Shared Link Good luck, Gina
  10. Hi All - Thanks for the input - It helped me decide about the Medic Alert bracelet thing - I AM going to add "Celiac disease" - NOT 'gluten-intolerance' - Since I don't think paramedics would even think "celiac disease" might prohibit any meds from being given...also, since celiac disease doesn't prohibit any life-saving drugs, no ER doc would...
  11. PixieGirl: Thanks for the kind welcome, for sharing your story, and for the info about Manna bread, Susan - I will definitely try the stuff! Kaiti (AKA, to me, I can't believe you voted for 'you know who' and I can't bring myself to write your ID...haha): I love ya already! I have a feeling that I will be asking ?s along the way... I have gotten SO...
  12. Hi celiac3270, Don't know if you've had surgery before, but I sure have...many times. My best advice: As they put you under, sing your favorite song to yourself in your head, and think of your favorite person...you should wake feeling happy Best wishes for a very speedy recovery, Gina
  13. Being an elementary school teacher [who is currently 'not-working,' but is writing children's books] and having 2 younger brothers who are also elementary teachers, I believe you should follow-up with DOCUMENTING everything discussed in writing, and submitting copies to the school board and Principal, along with the teacher. Let them know that you and she...
  14. Kati: THanks, You're still cool, too, even though...
  15. Hi celiac3270 and FlagBabyDS: celiac3270: Yes, EnteroLab is the lab I found on-line, via an article on here. I'll let you know the results when I get them - and I'll let the doc know, too...I hope he doesn't laugh at me when I tell him I am doing the stool testing...I understand that it is not yet fully accepted by the medical community as 'valid.' But...
  16. Thanks for your support, Kaiti Yes, I have been copying and pasting as much info about lipsticks/glosses, etc as I can find on the Net, and on here... I am happy to say that I have lots of Ecco Bella products already... Even though I didn't take the doc's advice to go gluten-free 3 years back, I did at least become 'more of a health nut'...
  17. sorry for all of the typos...missed the preview option...G
