  1. Mark, Have you tried using digestive enzymes to help lessen/eliminate excess gas? Also, Ensure really helps me keep on much-needed weight. Best wishes, Gina
  2. Hi - Good post! What do I do? I do some more reading/research about what to avoid, and what to be more suspect of, to help prevent it from happening again. I also commit right away to being MUCH more careful about what I put in my mouth, and that makes it easier to not take similar risks again. I also drink more water, get more sleep and take...
  3. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) Gina
  4. Biopsy samples must also be cut at a proper angle, taken from various places, and then 'read' properly too...these are add'l reasons why a negative biopsy cannot rule out celiac disease 100%. Gina
  5. NO PROBLEM! No need to apologize... There are many of us on here who don't always get the time to read all new threads...so, you'll catch different people with each one... About it taking time to recover...it can take a number of years for all gluten to leave your system...and, I have read that gluten is linked to brain plaques...I can't imagine that...
  6. The way I'm starting to look at this is: A person can inadvertantly ingest gluten from touching gluten-containing skin care products (after directly applying the lotions, or by rubbing one's own skin, after application) and then touching one's own mouth before washing. I wouldn't worry about this, though, if you are 'completely' symptom-free a few months...
  7. GOOD GOD, MAX... You are home... Welcome. LOVE, Gina
  8. My two cents: PLEASE do not believe that biopsy results are 100% accurate - They can come back false negative (meaning you do have small intestine damage, but the test failed to detect)... ...the doc performing it may not cut at the proper angles...OR may not get enough samples...or may not sample enough areas of the small bowel (It's not short....
  9. WOW.... I just now realized that I DO need to get rid of ALL of my gluten-containing skin products... I had thought that it wasn't necessary to do this beyond things that go directly on my lips or in my mouth... BUT...ALL of us touch our skin, and DO risk contamination...and it WILL happen if we use gluten-containing skin products... ...
  10. Kaiti - I guess you missed this: Cj IS currently gluten-free... That's why I said he/she shouldn't try re-introducing gltuen right now... Yes, later, when his/her health has stabilized...probably not a bad idea to see if it's a serious variable at that time...but, hopefully, Cj can get some health insurance before putting gluten back in the mix...
  11. THANKS, VydorScope! The shift/refresh thing worked :-)
  12. Thanks, guys.... I will try that shift/refresh message now... Gina
  13. Not a bad idea IF cj's health wasn't SOOOOOO precarious right now... CJ clearly states that he/she is VERY ill right now... I must adamantly disagree...a gluten challenge at this point in time is NOT a wise suggestion... Gina
  14. Hi - Im trying to change my avitar pic - It tells me it uploaded my new pic, but now shows my old pic still but with the dimensions of the new pic (my old pic is now stretched wider...), but it doesn't show the new pic... Is a moderator reviewing the new pic...and in the meantime I now look fat? ;-) I think this is happening, because the last time...
  15. YES... give US the info - I'll write! :-) Gina
  16. Tarnalberry, Sorry to jump in on you, but I don't think a gluten-challenge at this point is something this member should be considering - since he/she has no health insurance and is not in a stable place, physically... Healing, I am so sorry to hear of your health issues - I wish I had some advice, but I can't think of anything right now - other...
  17. I heard on public radio recently that iodized salt can effect the thyroid adversely, so I GUESS? it's best to not use it at home - in the program, seaweed extract was recommended for thyroid health - that's all I know about that one... I just got the CSA products book - am glad to hear it's been useful for others :-) Gina
  18. OK...I'm in heaven now....I fixed the problem... Annie's Organic Black Bean refried beans are being nuked, Organic Muir Glen mild salsa and organic sour cream are waiting, along with my taste buds....and those old chips will be yummy and nutritious, too! :-) Problem solved! ...though still mad at Kettle Brands for not listing 'manufactured on machines...
  19. SHOOT! I just bought 3 bags of their chips, thinking that they were gluten-free because a few of their flavors state "NOT Gluten-free" under the ingredient list...SO, I assumed the ones that didn't say "Not gluten-free" were gluten-free... To double-check, though, before consuming any, I went to their web site's FAQs page just now and found this: ...
  20. Thanks to all of the posters about ways to gain weight - I am 5'9" and 118 lbs- I need to gain at least 7 lbs to get myself to a healthier place - I'll follow the advice on here! THANKS! and....Great to hear that you're getting healthier, celiac3270! looks like your surgery 'took!'... Gina
  21. You go Bernadette! Gina
  22. I have to second the person who said, "STAY GLUTEN-FREE for your weddding!" Don't take ANY chances before or during...not worth worrying about tests results...put off the tests...be 'clean' for at least 2 weeks pre your wedding... My BEST WISHES! Gina
  23. Hi, I was told that the "endomysial Screen & IGA Titer " isn't perfromed unless the anti-gliadin IgA or IgG values are positive - In my case, I didn't go in to get my blood tests drawn until I was already at 6 weeks gluten-free, so when my tests came back at 29.0 for IgG, the lab did not bother to do the add'l tests for "endomysial Screen & IGA...
  24. Lockett, PLEASE provide, if you have any, web URLS to any pertinent scientific research studies - Thanks, Gina
  25. No way! Why on Earth would I want to? I love myself...
