  1. Thank you Thank you to all that have responded. You have made me again realize I am not in this alone. I think alot of the emotional strain right now is that I have always been the "baker girl", in fact Sundays were the days I made homemade bread, cookies, brownies, you name it I baked it. And I have already tried many recipes and shared them with family...
  2. I have had that happen at work too!!! They order pizza, donuts, cookies etc.... and then say oh were sorry, I just smile and shrug go into my office and eat my fruit. Or have you ever had someone say "oh you can have a little, it wont hurt you," ummm ok. Oh well, I guess this comes with the territory, I am glad we both have husbands who care or this...
  3. Thank you for your responses, hooray I am not alone. Please know that I do have a wonderful support system, my husband is amazing and is very protective of me, I think that comes from him watching me suffer for so long. And four wonderful daughters who take great care of their mom. But sometimes I worry that my family and friends get tired of the "Celiac...
  4. For about a week now I have been very depressed, I have been gluten-free since September 13th, (funny how you remember the exact day when you finally find a diagnosis) Anyway I don't know if it is the holiday season, or that at times having Celiac is very overwhelming, but yesterday at work I lost it. For no real reason I started crying and could not stop...
  5. I vote for the island, I would defenitely love to live in Glutenfreeland!!!!
  6. There are three of us here myself, husband and daughter, we spend about $500.00 a month, but since we hardly ever eat out we find we are still saving money. Also the lifestyle change has all of us eating healthier:)
  7. I agree with Shauna, you have to do what is best for you. Don't risk your health for anyone, I know I won't. Bring your own food, and enjoy the day, no one wants to be sick during the holidays, I hope everthing works out for you.
  8. I also get the comments from friends and co-workers about the weight loss and how they should do my diet, my reply is always ok the weight loss came from being un-diagnosed for so long, not the gluten free diet. They dont understand the risk of eating gluten,(and yes I have tried to explain many times) so my reply now is just yes I do eat much healthier...
  9. I so agree with you. Recently in our local paper they had all about the gluten free diet but a very small blurb about Celiac, it irritates the heck out of me, all those who follow the diet for the "new trend in diets" dont have the health concerns that we have, no worries of CC and can still walk into Pizza Hut anytime they want, just had to rant about that...
  10. As I posted last week, my niece's wedding was this past weekend. I decided since only being newly diagnosed that I would bring my own food. First event was the rehearsal dinner on Friday night, I made myself delicious soup and gluten-free cookie for dessert, so yummy!!! Then Saturday the big day, I was a little nervous however the caterer was very nice...
  11. Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement, this site is wonderful!!! It is like finding a new family who understands you when no one else will.
  12. It has only been 10 days since being diagnosed, I think I am handling the new lifestyle pretty well, I am very lucky to have such an understanding husband and daughters. We have already made the kitchen and pantry safe for me, but I am still very paranoid about CC. My niece's wedding is this weekend, I have already decided to take my own food, I dont want...
  13. My husband's delicious spaghetti with meat sauce and cheesy garlic bread, mmmmmm it was so good!
