  1. Hey Jess, We'll be sending you lots of positive energy (and the power of pretzels and gluten-free cake). I KNOW you'll do great on tis one!!!! May the force be with you!!!! (just watched Star Trek- the movie). Loey
  2. I make jewelry and yes, hematite has magnetic powers and can help with sleep. I've pated links below that tell you the healing powers of many stones. Hope it helps. 3. It's the very least you deserve. You are always here for so many of us!!! We're all going to get through this together. I consider this forum my second family. Hope you get some sleep. Loey
  4. Hang in there Noni, I know how bleak it must seem with how expensive it is to follow a gluten-free diet. Maybe we can get together a collection for you from the forum. I'm unemployed but feel very blessed that my husband currently has a good job. If there's anyone out here who wants to lend a hand I'd be happy to organize it. Loey
  5. Hang in there my friend. I'm still sticking to my version of the elimination diet (rice, veggies, and eggs). I can't seem to tolerate meat right now (latent vegetarian?). It's really hard to eat like this but hopefully you'll start to feel better. Just know I'm here for you if you need to vent. You've been here for me with excellent information and support...
  6. Could you be allergic to corn (bummer if you are)? I agree about the air popper but also make sure you're not allergic. I'm finding out that I'm allergic to things that I wasn't before my Celiac and Ulcer diagnosis. Unfortunately for us we seem to have to read labels every time we go shopping. Hang in there and know you're not alone! Loey
  7. I've been to 3 concerts in the last 2 months (Paul Mccartney- something to cross off m bucket list) Roger Waters performing The Wall and an Australian Pink Floyd Cover Group. I brought my own food but still seriously CC'd by all of the spilled beer around me. Bottom line is that the concerts were worth every bit of suffering i felt over the next few days...
  8. Does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced bread machine that has a gluten setting and makes a crusty bread. My husband is beyond supportive of my gluten-free diet but I know he is tired of eating "cardboard bread" (his words). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Loey
  9. I personally like jasmine and basmati rice. I also just invested in a rice cooker because i sucked at cooking it. I find the jasmine and basmati aren't as bad for you as white. I do like brown rice but have to try it it in the cooker. Rice spaghetti and noodles are also delicious. You have to be careful not to overcook it them it doesn't take long to cook...
  10. I drank quite a bit of wine Sunday night before the funeral we attended on Monday (yes I was sh@#faced). Everyone had a great time making fun of me (myself included). My problem wasn't the wine it was the delicious Spanish cheese that I couldn't resist. I suffered for it yesterday but it was well worth it. Within reason I don't seem to have trouble with...
  11. Is that something you can get over the counter or at a health food store? Also, are broccoli sprouts found where regular sprouts are (sorry to sound ignorant). Getting ready to leave overnight for a funeral. Have to pack up my food. Would NOT want to forget that! I'll be back tomorrow night or Tuesday. Thank you all for always having a great suggestion...
  12. Yes, I see it. You're anything but a crab my dear Karreennee!! I'm supposed to be getting ready to leave so I'm trying to stay offline. It's a bit addictive, isn't it? I'll be back (like AHRNOLD) Loey
  13. I totally agree with you. We have to make an effort even if we aren't feeling well and as I mentioned in my first post - acknowledge when she's tired. Just because exhaustion is a part of our disease it doesn't mean that she doesn't have those days when she's tired and needs validation. We all need to feel special. Hang in there! I know that you'll start...
  14. Doesn't take much to give me a buzz these days! Will miss you all. Back in a few days. Loey
  15. Right now I do go weekly. It's a co-pay and between the move, Celiac, Ulcer, empty nest and being on unemployment when we need my income it's been a big help. I budget it in and make my hubby a lot of gluten-free mac and cheese and I eat a lot of rice and veggies. Right now my mental health has to be a priority. Gotta go pack and get ready for our overnight...
  16. LOVE it (and you!!!!) Gotta get packed for overnight and funeral. Will be back online assoon as I can. Loey
  17. Here's the info I have to date from the biopsy: Esophageal Hiatal Hernia Scalloped Folds and absence of villi in the duodenal Ulcer in the pre-pyloric region I'll be taking Omeprazole once a day for a month and then have to have the procedure repeated. The entire process was less than an hour. My longest wait was for the lab technician...
  18. They just took the blood work at the hospital for the H-Pylori. I imagine if it shows up he will add the antibiotics. The jury is still out on how I feel about this doctor. I have a referral from a colleague of my husband's if Im not happy. Thanks for your help and support Loey
  19. There's nothing wrong with counseling.
  20. Jason, I totally agree with everyone who is telling you to be open and up front about your situation with your girlfriend. If this girl can't handle it then she doesn't deserve you and it's not going to work out in the long run. Everyone has bathroom issues and most of us have funny (and some not so funny) stories that go along with them. You need to realize...
  21. The best thing about this forum is that none of us are alone!!!! Glad to hear that you are not in pain 24/7. I look forward to that. We are all in different stages of this disease. I just had a biopsy of an ulcer that was discovered after a capsule endoscopy so that's another cause of pain. I'm just grateful that I can come here and know that someone will...
  22. Hang in there Jason! This forum has been a lifeline for me. When I was first diagnosed I moved to new town/state literally the day after all of my test results came back. Shortly after my son went to college, my husband back to work and I spent a lot of time in bed watching TV and feeling sorry for myself. It's hard not to and I still have days like that...
  23. Hey Karrennnee, Do we get a Turkey soon (not that I don't wub our pumpkin) Loey
  24. Hi, I'm sorry that you're having a rough time of it. It does sound like your girlfriend is there for you but remember that this disease isn't straight forward and that, in itself, can be hard for anyone to understand. It can take up to two years (I've been told) to completely regain health after being totally gluten free. I was only diagnosed in June...
  25. Jason, I'm attending a funeral Monday and we're staying with my husband's cousin tomorrow night. He called today to see what he could cook for me (which was really sweet). I explained to him that at this stage of my illness I am extremely sensitive and if he had previously cooked something in the pan using something I couldn't eat -I could get really...
