  1. Yesterday I finally had the biopsy of my ulcer (EGD) and the doctor came to the following conclusions: Esophageal Hiatal Hernia Scalloped Folds and absence of villi in the duodenal Ulcer in the pre-pyloric region I'll be taking Omeprazole once a day for a month and then have to have the procedure repeated. I'm concerned about the absence...
  2. I took a nice long nap. Now we're going to couch plop again. Thanks for all of the support and well wishes about the biopsy and our cousin. Now I'm going to call the restaurant where they're having lunch after to make sure I can have them microwave my lunch (in it's SEALED container) or if they have a gluten-free menu. Otherwise I can wait until I get...
  3. Dietz and Watson and Boars Head have gluten-free Ham. You could get it sliced thick and put it on toothpicks or thin and roll it. Loey Now Klark REALLY wants me to come lay down. I'm sure I'll be back later! Loey
  4. I know I should be offline (and will return to couch shortly but I took a loooong nap). Definitely keep the non gluten-free out of the house. You're doing too well to get CC'd/ And it's your house! I'm sure everything you make will be delicious. Perhaps you can suggest what they bring and make sure it's all things you can eat (or drink like wine). Thanks...
  5. Are we starting to come up with ads that we get stuck in our head now? Count me in!!! Just got back from the biopsy and thought I'd fill you all in before I go rest for the day (or let Klark spoil me). I actually think I might like my GI now. Feeling pain where they took the biopsies. Will spend the day on the catch either watching movies or Heroes...
  6. You're welcome and remember we're always here for you if you get scared!!! Loey
  7. Glad to hear you're feeling better. I'm sending lots of positive energy your way! Can you eat rice? I make a great rice omelette and add in hemp seed for protein (and nuttiness). It gives me a little variety. As I mentioned I haven't been able to stand the smell or taste of most meat (a latent vegetarian?). I'm off to finally have my ulcer biopsied...
  8. No, I had that checked. But thanks for asking. I might ask my new GP to recheck me. Can it show up if you've already tested negative for it? I just moved to a new town/state so I have only seen a GI so far. Have the name of the GP and will make an appointment.
  9. Thanks Jess!!! I do pfeel the love. Read up on my procedure and if they have to do anything in addition to the biopsy they do it right through the scope. Medicine has sure come a long way since leeches (or has it). I remember my grandmother doing something called "cupping" when she had an asthma attack. She would put a cotton ball with alcohol on it...
  10. You've been SO helpful to me with many of my questions. I'm on a basic elimination diet (just eating rice, veggies and eggs - I couldn't stand the smell of meat anymore). I totally gave up dairy and it did help my energy level. I'm drinking Almond Breeze (almond milk) and it's delicious (don't know if they have that where you live). I also agree with the...
  11. Thanks everyone!!!! You're all the best. I'm blessed that Karraanng brought me to this thread. It's a cousin on Klark's side of the family but they have always been favorites of mine. One positive thing is that we get to see everyone. They only live an hour and a half away but with everyone's different work schedules it's hard to get together. The cousin...
  12. Thanks Emily. I will think of Rahshyelle and her peaceful float tank - I'm 4'11" so I probably could fit in there if it was wide enough (tee-hee). I'll probably pfeel like that with the anesthesia or just not pfeel. Right now they just plan on the biopsies but the authorization forms included a lot of other procedures just in case. Might as well get it all...
  13. Hi Julie, There are so many gluten-free options out there. I'm lucky that my husband and son (when he's home from college) go gluten-free. I'm in a very sensitive stage of my Celiac right now. We moved to a new town/state right after I got all my test results and I bought all new dishes, etc to use here. I don't even allow non gluten-free leftovers from...
  14. The most important thing is to celebrate your birthday with people you love and not have to be stressed out about doing that. I agree with you that finding this forum is the best thing that has happened to me since I was diagnosed with Celiac. It is the wisest, kindest and most knowledgeable bunch of folks united in one place!!!!! If you have the...
  15. I just read about it because I'm having a biopsy done for an ulcer tomorrow. They know I have the ulcer because I had a capsule endoscopy and it showed. I'll paste some links below with information about it. Sometimes it's the cheapest way for them to test you (i.e. no hospitalization, surgery, or anesthesia). Hope this helps! 16. Remember as all the wise ones above said - even if something is genetic it is not necessarily passed down. I had my son genetically tested for Celiac before he left for college and he tested negative (phew - one less thing to blame mom for). Just remember that whenever you get worried there are an infinite number of educated and empathetic people on this...

    You go girl!!!! Loey
  18. I am constantly needing to urinate and even get up once or twice a night to go. Yet another pleasant side effect of this illness. Thanks to those who wrote suggestions above this. I LOVE coconut water but didn't realize it was good for us! Loey
  19. Perhaps you're allergic to one of the ingredients in the pizza. I was following the gluten-free diet and about 8 weeks ago got extremely sick. It turned out that not all products labeled gluten-free actually are. I also seem to have allergies to certain foods and oils. I put myself on the elimination diet and currently "feast" (joke) on rice and veggies....
  20. Will send positive energy his way! I FINALLY have my ulcer biopsy tomorrow. I'm a little nervous but I'm sure that they won't find anything serious (more positive thinking). It's just whenever they do a procedure the authorization form makes it sounds scary. Klark is taking the day off to take me and then wait on me. We also had a death in...
  21. Thanks for getting me a link I could open. I wish he had a support forum as awesome as this one. How lonely and frightened the boy boy must feel (not to mention dealing with people staring at you and going through this at his age)! There but for the grace of God go I.... Loey
  22. The Fiber-Con seems to be working (YAY). They gave me MiraLax to cleanse me before the capsule endoscopy and that didn't work. I was constipated for the procedure, very uncomfortable and afraid I'd have the camera come out t before it was supposed to. My husband and the nurse told me that wouldn't happen because it takes at least 7 hours to make it through...
  23. Don't have a facebook account so I can't open. Can someone describe it to me? Loey
  24. You left one thing off your list - See BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (or is this the week he's interviewing)? Loey
