It would also be easier to control his diet and get him used to it at a younger age. -
They biopsied the lesion itself AND the skin next to it.

I turned 38 yesterday, and was diagnosed with LS about 5 years ago. My mother was just diagnosed with it maybe 2 years ago shorly after she had a hysterectomy. She was fine until her surgery. If I remember correctly, I think I suggested she may have LS.

I was only gluten-free for 2 weeks. I am still in limbo over the whole celiac disease thing. I actually have some allergy testing scheduled for next week. After that, I will work more on diagnosising or ruling out celiac disease.

Hmmmm. I'm not diagnosed with celiac. At least not yet. Since about May, I have had like a double bag under 1 eye. My eye doctor prescribed some meds that never helped. It is on the side I sleep on. It was really bad and puffy when it first started, but never went away.

They sell those in Wegmans in NJ. Though I haven't seen all those varieties! -
It's over a 5 day period. I'd have to go to the doctor Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Not looking forward to the process, but hoping I'll get some answers.

My biopsy for dh came back negative. (I am still questioning my negative celiac disease results, and am planning to further investigate.) I gather many of you have gone through allergy patch testing in search of a reason for your rashes. Just looking for experiences. What things did they test you for and how bad was the process? Were you able to...

This is kind of weird. I hope no one takes offense to this, but I see the tendency for people to blame EVERYTHING on celiac disease. However, I too have had hip pain for about a year and half. It seemed better for awhile. (Maybe 3 months ?) I am one of those in limbo, undiagnosed, currently on a "regular" diet. I have been having tons of gluten during... -
Don't buy it. He can't use it as an excuse for everything.

Itchy~ Are you officially diagnosed? According to my derm, my results were negative, but she could not explain my raised ttg Igg. They had also told me before the biopsy that my rash wasn't very active and they weren't sure what the resulst would be. So, I am currently in limbo. I'm going in for patch tests next week. As far as celiac goes, I'm waiting... -

I agree with what most said about just being gracious. I just wanted to add that if she suddenly realizes and apologizes, please do your best not to make her feel bad. Maybe something like, "Oh, don't give it a 2nd thought. I shared it with my kids/neighbors. They loved it. It was so nice of you to think of me and I couldn't possibly expect everyone... -
Becci~ I've never heard of that med. I'll have to look into it. I've been on clobetesol for years, but wanted to stop because my main problem is thinning skin, which the clob can make worse. I started protopic a few weeks ago, but frankly it just hurts me so far! I started using emu oil with vitamin E yesterday. I had used it years ago. At the time...

LS isn't that common. They are both autoimmune. While they may not be directly related, I personally feel most AI diseases have a connection. I've read online cases of women with LS going gluten-free and feeling better. In case you have the wrong disease, Lichen sclerosis, in a nutshell affects the skin of the labia. (or rarely the penis) At this...

ARCHIVED What Is The *purpose* Of Adding Flour To Everything?
TPT replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Does anyone remember the old Wonder commercial where the "monster put the children in the dungeon and made them eat wheat bread?" Also, the irony of how wheat has been touted as a "health food." I guess for some it is, but think of all the "whole wheat" packages we NOW avoid! -

What is a total IGa serum test? Is it not part of the typical protocol? Being a derm. resident, she did look up what tests had to be ordered, so she could have missed something. Again, not faulting her. This isn't her area. Infact, when I faxed my info to my GP, he wouldn't comment on my bloodwork at all, saying it wasn't his area. And he's a seasoned... -
I should add that I faxed my blood work to my GP, and I was called and told he couldn't comment because it's not his area of expertise.

I originally went to a dermatologist because of rashes. After putting a few puzzle pieces together, we decided to test for celiac. The derm feels my results are negative, though I do have an elevated ttg IgG level. My GI symptoms were never awful, and have really cleared up on a 10 day or so gluten-free diet. Other possible symptoms include tingling in...

She did a biopsy on both the rash AND next to it. She said I am reacting to something. I forget if I already said I am going in for a patch test next month. Aside from my possible celiac disease symptoms, I am a candidate for celiac disease. I already have an autoimmune disease called lichen sclerosis. My brother has a gene for celiac disease, and...
