  1. Lately, almost every day I work, someone is bringing in CRAP to eat. I am purposely calling it that because I am so upset. Today there are jelly donuts calling my name. Over the weekend there were all kinds of pastries screaming at my sweet tooth. I even told someone I was glad I couldn't eat that SHIT...right in front of my manager. So, first I get mad,...
  2. We just happened to go there. I had no idea they had a gluten-free menu until my step-daughter pointed out the gluten-free bun option. I was so glad she saw it. The waitress said the fries are gluten-free too, and they cook everything separately with gloves. My stomach was fine after the meal. So nice!
  3. The bun was great! I was surprised. I don't usually like the gluten-free bread so I have never bought gluten-free buns to make my own burgers. usually I order them at In and Out Burger with the lettuce. This was really good. They use gloves and take precautions to cook the burgers and fries separately.
  4. Tonight I was going to order a burger without the bun...until we noticed a gluten free bun option on the menu!! I was shocked. The waitress asked me if I had an allergy and I said yes, so she put a special allergy alert on my order. She told me they use gloves and cook the fries and burger in a separate area. I was actually in tears. This was the first "real...
  5. A co-worker informed me she made some cookies. I told her my usual line "I can't eat cookies". She then told me she used coconut and rice flour! She is following a gluten free diet! I was SO HAPPY! It was so nice to be able to eat something a co-worker brought to share. Some people said they thought the cookies were a bit "grainy"...probably the rice flour...
  6. I am celebrating Mother's Day with my family next weekend because I had to work today. We decided we don't want to cook. So, my mom told me she would get pizza. I reminded her I couldn't eat pizza. She said "well, we can get it for the people who can eat it." (huh? What about me?!) Then I said we could get Chinese food and she menitoned Panda Express. I have...
  7. Of course not!! I asked before I donated, just to make sure.
  8. I felt fine right afterward. I have good veins. But today I am exhausted and I know it's from the donation. I will probably only donate twice a year...they call me every 3 months lately...feels like an annoying salesman sometimes.
  9. Also, I take iron and vitamin supplements
  10. I donated blood yesterday. I was anemic last time, so I couldn't donate. This time my hemoglobin was 12.8...which is still a little low. I think they require it to be at least 12.5. Today I feel exhausted. I am pretty sure it's from donating. I like donating because I know the American Red Cross is always needing donors and I have a rare blood type. Does...
  11. I ate a gluten-free pizza last night that I've had before at this restaurant. I know it's safe, the manager told me they have a dedicated gluten-free area. The first pizza I had there was just cheese and olives. This time I had a veggie one...with mushrooms, olives, artichokes, tomatoes and garlic. I think it was the garlic in combo with the veggies...now...
  12. Mushroom: not all dieticians are this ignorant. Mine was perfectly accurate with her Celiac information right after I was diagnosed
  13. OMG!!! This story makes me angry!! I am a nurse, so this is really upsetting to me. I wonder if all the wheat sensitive and celiac patients at that hospital get all that gluten-filled food?? That dietician needs to go back to school. Did your friend tell you how the dietician responded when she told her the food WAS NOT gluten-free?? People just don't...
  14. Do you like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups? That's what I treat myself to when things like this happen. Just keep some of your favorite snacks with you for times like these. Or, think about all the weight they will gain eating all that crap!!
  15. I was watching an episode of House Hunters International and they were in Sweden. Very pretty. My husband is Swedish. Our last name is obviously Swedish..so when I go to the grocery store there's one cashier that started talking to me in Swedish as I left. (they see your last name on the receipt) I politely told him I don't speak Swedish (neither does my...
  16. I always have Reese's Peanut Butter cups around to help when things like this get me down! Today I bought the peanut butter cup eggs...yum!!!!
  17. Thanks Karen and Dani. I made a whole new batch. It really wasn't that hard. I was just so upset...but now we have a lot of leftover stew! And I will be careful with keeping them separate. I bought new Italian dressing and it says "gluten free" on it...
  18. Maybe I will just make another batch! It's so good, I have nothing better to do...but I still want to cry!!
  19. Thanks for the advice. I have 3 kids and a husband who will eat it. I tasted it twice before I read the label. I hate this disease! If I eat it, I will probably pay the price...but yeah maybe I should eat a huge ice cream sundae instead. Lesson learned...read ALL labels.
  20. So, would you eat it anyway after slaving away at a hot stove?! GRRR!!! I think other "regular" brands of Italian are probably ok...boo hoo
  21. I just made the best vegetable beef stew on the planet...tastes great to me anyway...I didn't think of any issues when browning the meat with Italian dressing. (Newman's Own Family style) Once I was finished making the entire stew...I decided to read the DAMN LABEL on the Italian dressing and it has BARLEY MALT EXTRACT in it!! I want to scream!! Since I have...
  22. When I ordered the taquitos at El Pollo Loco I assumed they were corn tortillas...most taquitos are usually made with corn tortillas aren't they?! I asked the drive thru employee if they were made from corn tortillas and she said yes. As I am half way through eating my second taquito, I realize...this tortilla is really big for a corn tortilla...and then...
  23. Hello Kimbalou, I hope you are having a fine gluten-free day! :)

  24. Funny, i will have to think about how fat these people could get when they eat all the donuts and pastries the doctors bring in too!
  25. Skylark, that's a good point. I am definitely going to steer the conversation in another direction at meal times. I also think I am very sensitive. You would think medical people would get it, but crazy how some don't!
