  1. Do I need to avoid anything with: natural flavors artificial flavors caramel color spices seasonings Anything else I am missing? I am doing good reading labels and avoiding what is actually declared but these hidden ones have me stressed today as I was buying alot of things without verifying ingredients. Thanks!
  2. Ooh, I think I have seen Moon Dough here! Thanks, I will definitley try to get some!
  3. This is what I have found out only through my own research, calling the companies of supplies currently used in my daughter's classroom. I am in Canada but hopefully this helps! Gluten Free Items: UHU glue sticks Sargent Tempera Paint (all Sargent Products are safe) Elmers Glue sticks Elmers ~ All craft products are gluten-free Except their fingerpaint...
  4. Try this website Open Original Shared Link Lots of kid friendly recipes including one for goldfish crackers. I made the crackers but I used a small bell shape as I did not have a fish cutter. I like the crackers but my daughter wouldn't eat them. Maybe your son will? I have found it hard to replace her old favorites (goldfish, granola bars) as the gluten...
  5. YEs, my daughter's dark circles are slowly fading away and her skin looks better. More color, not so pale.
  6. 8 days for our results, in Canada.
  7. Yes, wait for the biopsy. Nothing was seen on my daughter with the scope but the biopsy showed alot under the microscope. You could try a gluten-free diet now if you wanted.
  8. My daughter complains almost daily of an itchy back and has spots that look similar to yours. Not all over, sporadic not clustered. Not sure if hers is DH or not but it seems likely. She is almost one month gluten free and has shown significant improvement in other areas but is still itchy every day.
  9. I know there are quite a few gluten-free options within Disneyland (YAY!) But what about outside of the park? We are planning on staying at a hotel with a fridge in the room. What local grocery stores are there? Do they have gluten free products or will I need to go to a specialty store?? Travel seems daunting right now but my family really needs a vaction...
  10. My daughter was going about 4x a day but very small amounts each time. It looked like a couple of dark brown rocks/marbles. I would not say it was smelly or sticky though.
  11. I am fairly new here but here is what I know: Blood tests are often false negative, and can be inaccurate in young children. I would keep him (and You) on gluten until you see the GI. Going gluten free will cause a scope/biopsy to be negative. My 4 year old daughter has celiac disease, my 6 year old daughter, my husband and myself are all negative...
  12. Some people are more sensitive than others. Some can eat the products made on shared equipment and products that say "may contain wheat" Others can not. I have heard that gum base may have gluten in it and it is best to contact the manufacturer. You have a positive blood test and symptoms of celiac. It sounds to me like you are being glutened somewhere...
  13. Thanks very much. I must have missed it when you posted it before
  14. I am glad you found some answers! Now the fun begins LOL! Good luck
  15. Do you have a recipe you could share? I heard from a few other people that the gluten-free playdough they made fell apart and didn't last.
  16. I knew my daughter had celiac and in fact I was hoping for a firm diagnosis. I wanted a positve biopsy to avoid the confusion and uncertainty that would have gone with a negative biopsy/positive blood test. However actually getting the news has been hard. I feel very upset and sad. I know these feelings are normal and I know that there are worse things to...
  17. Is it OK for my daughter to play with playdough if she washes her hands after? Would using gloves be a good idea? Should I be supplying my daughter with gluten-free playdough? Or the whole class?
  18. So you can make cornmeal into a hot porridge like breakfast?
  19. I spoke with the GI nurse today. My daughter's biopsy was positive for celiac disease. Completely flattened villi, Marsh 3. Thank you to everyone for all the help so far. You have all been very supportive and informative. I guess I am here to stay!!
  20. My daughter had biopsy/scope last week. The whole process took about 10 minutes. She was given IV sedation and fell asleep very quickly. They put a camera down the throat and look for damage. They also will take samples of the tissue to look for damage. Sometimes the damage can be seen by the scope itself but often it is only visible under microscope. She...
  21. I don't think you can buy grits here. I have never seen them. Is that what they are actually called? LOL/
  22. Thanks, that's what I thought.
  23. What the heck are grits??? How do you eat it? Cook it? Where do you find it in a store?
  24. Yes, my daughter had constipation for as far back as I can remember. 24 hrs gluten-free and it was 100% improved!
