  1. Welcome! I just got my confirmation last Thursday so almost the same day as you. I was making gluten free brownies and accidently grabbed the PAM spray for baking (it has flour in it!) Had to use a different pan and I chucked the PAM in the trash. As for pasta, I have found a pasta my family likes and can't tell the difference so we mostly...
  2. My Christmas present to myself was the Zojirushi. I am finally using it for the first time tonight, (Bob's red mill hearty wheat mix, I was too lazy to do scratch) I did lots of research and heard great things about it. I do remember reading about another that was not as expensive and still got good reviews though...can't remember what it was. DanaPete...
  3. I 100% agree LDJofDenver. I am very greatful to be sure. That was one reason I wanted to keep eating gluten even though it took me 7 weeks from blood work till my endoscopy. I knew that if I knew there was damage to my intestines and saw it/heard it for myself, that would help me to be totally gluten free. On that note, I was making the bc gluten...
  4. Had mine yesterday and the actual procedure was a breeze! It was the prep that was the worst part. They do not put you to sleep before the iv, that's how they give you the stuff that puts you to sleep. They did put me to sleep before they numbed my throat and did everything else though. Honestly except for being sleepy afterwards I felt great and...
  5. The prep was no fun but I made it through and had both a colonoscopy and endoscopy today. All the docs and nurses were super nice (I go to the military hospital) and some were very funny. I remember being hooked up and the nurse saying they were putting in the stuff to make me sleep and then I woke up back in my "room". I felt so good, nothing hurt. For...
  6. I have my endoscopy (and colonoscopy) tomorrow so I will let you know how it goes! : )
  7. What are grits? DELICIOUS. : ) The walmart brand of instant(I think)grits are good. Are they gluten free? I haven't had it in ages.
  8. Yes, I have already waited 6 weeks though...one more not bad at all.
  9. Yes, my husband is taking me. I am hoping the kids can go to the neighbors house to catch the bus. We have done it enough for our one neighbor, I hope she can return the favor.
  10. My endoscopy and colonoscopy are scheduled for Thursday morning. I have to remember not to eat anything with seeds starting Monday and drink only clear liquids the day before. Plus go to pharmacy, sign paperwork, take a pregnancy test and a few other things. I also have to find someone to get my kids on the bus. I will be glad when this part is...
  11. With your family history I would think your doc would be more than willing to do the blood tests for celiac. Have you talked to your doc about it yet?
  12. I am relieved to finally have seen the gastro doc today and they are going to call me tomorrow to schedule my endo and also a colonoscopy. (fun) But the appointment today was a bit dissapointing. He was running late from being in the OR and I sat in the waiting room nearly two hours. At least when he got to me he didn't rush through my apointment although...
  13. Jennifer47, congrats on the official diagnosis!: ) I finally go for my first gastroenterologist visit next week and they will schedule my endo. I can't wait. : ) Quincy, So what is a good digestive enzyme and a good probiotic?
  14. Cider's don't have gluten in them? So would Hornsby's hard cider be ok? I love that stuff!
  15. I only have a minute but wanted to ask what the thyroid test in particular means. It looks like they didn't do the Free T4 test? They told me we were still waiting on some results not sure which ones and I can't tell from the paperwork. My iron is low but I knew that already. TSH 2.59 (0.34 - 4.82) Then under interpretations it says several...
  16. Hi Debnak, I am new to this forum and found out a couple of weeks ago I most likely have celiacs. I go for my endo on base around the end of January. I am still eating some gluten but am feeling much better than I was before already. I know what you mean about paying an arm and leg for stuff. Amazon doesn't even seem to ship here for their gluten...
  17. I tried one of these, they weren't my favorite. Not sure which blend I tried I think it had black rice in it?
  18. Too young to feel symptoms? Just curious how old are you? That is something I hadn't read before is that true of most people? I had my doc test my thyroid on Tuesday but don't have any results yet. I am not sure really what tests he is running except that they are thyroid and vitamin levels. I had specifically mentioned hashimotos though...
  19. Yeah, that is good news. Don't be nervous, you will hopefully have some answers soon. I go for my first meeting with the gastro doc on Jan 13. Then if he decides I get an endo maybe 2 weeks later. I hate waiting! I tried getting bumped up but he is out on vacation. : (
  20. I have not had a pity party yet but I know one is coming, probably in January. One thing that is helping stave it off though is a friend's husband who has cancer. I keep telling myself at least I don't have cancer. Not very cheery but there it is, LOL. Usually makes me feel better.
  21. So sorry you are going through all of this! I would also keep a food diary of what the kids are eating as well as the photos.
  22. I too have had rib pain, mostly on the right and slightly and then sometimes slightly under my ribcage. That's why I thought it was gallbladder problems! Then lately I get like a charley horse in the muscles on the right side just over my rib cage. It doesn't have anything to do with my heart and it goes away pretty quickly. It's like the muscles seize...
  23. Thank you, yes I am aware I need to keep eating gluten and I am. But in the mean time I am looking for substitutes and gluten-free items that I like so that afterwards I am prepared. And it's also easier on my pocket book to buy a few things here and there than all at once. : ) (new cutting board, new colendar etc)
  24. Saw my regular doctor today to talk about some tests I wanted ran and also about celiac in general. A couple of weeks ago the nurse told me over the phone that the blood test was positive and I was to see the gastroenterologist and that was all I got. Thank goodness for this forum! Now I love my doc so I can't be too upset especially because today...
