  1. How much does your friend really know about it? My daughter was diagnosed year ago and we learn something new and sometimes contradictory! almost daily. I personally have no celiac and/or gluten issues, although my daughter does and I am trying to help her. I have read and will try to find the actual data, peer review research, medical documentation...
  2. Thank you ravenwoodglass for your kindness.
  3. Thanks for the help, Skylark. I appreciate it. I know for years my daughter's thyroid issues went undiagnosed due to blood work numbers being in range. Could she have had an allergy all her life? I mean if it is genetic, chances are she did, correct? Why have I read...get ya the book info later, that Hashimoto's and Celiac somehow are found together...
  4. Thanks for the listing...now if I can only remember some of those
  5. Ooops, MY personal observation. Sorry. I read that -- Could the nodules have been caused by the undigested gluten molecules? I know they are tested for cancer, but do they check to find what exactly the nodules are comprised of? Just a thought. For I wonder HOW does the thyroid begin this journey when there are so many suffering from gluten problems...
  6. Hi applegirl. Sorry you are going thru this, as if the gluten issue isn't enough to deal with, huh? I am not sure about the fungal infection. My dd was told she tested (stool sample) positive for parasitic infection (I swear was from a cruise she was on ). She was given a probiotic for parasites. The house smelled like a garlic factory for...
  7. Hey thanks applegirl03, I really appreciate the recommendation and will have her get in touch soon - while she is still on break from classes. That is interesting about the stomach infection! Did the results of the test have anything to do with a high eosinophils number? Sorry, I am new at this. I feel Dr. Bain has done all he can and...
  8. Good thing to question in your case, I feel. We (husband/daughter and myself) recently opted a no-show at the "family" get together on Christmas! Can you believe it? I had brought up the topic of food to my sisterinlaw and I volunteered to bring in some gluten-free goodies so that our daughter could at least have something other than carrots and she gave...
  9. Love love love their ice creams. Daughter likes the coffee creamer as well. I think I am going to try these products. They can't hurt.
  10. How awful you had to endure all those years of illness, ravenwoodglass. Good to hear you are healing! My hope is one day to rid the entire home of gluten toxins once and for all. I will be adding "Healther Without Wheat" by Stephen Wangen, to my reading soon. Thanks shopgirl. I have found so much information here. So my daughter basically...
  11. Thank you Skylark. I have been very serious about learning as much as I can. I need to learn if there is a way to stop the localized autoimmune diseases--alleviate the inflammation without the use of pharma. Will the diseases just continue for her? Will she develop more? My GOD, she's only 25. And this is hereditary? This is what her parents gave her...
  12. Thank you for that information, psawyer:). I wasn't sure about the villi. It sounds as if it (villi) totally regenerates itself? No previous scarring, markers of inflammation at all, which is probably why the test can have a false negative result. I would love to find historical information surrounding this villian (gluten), for sure. Just to understand...
  13. Ok, I have tried to understand the biopsy theory. One who suspects they have celiac should have the biopsy I have read.
  14. Thank you so much shezatrip. I had no idea of how many are suffering. Yep, keep on smiling!!
  15. First, welcome to the site, there are many, helpful people here. . Second, does the doctor/clinic know of your situation? Can they offer any assistance at all? I googled this and found: Open Original Shared Link Good luck to you!!!
  16. ((((((happymom))))) Hope everything works out for your child and for your family.
  17. Hello everyone. I found out my daughter was gluten intolerant thru blood work at a new doctor I made an appt for her as soon as she came back home, from being away for a few years. I was shocked. I felt so bad for her for it seems that she had been feeling "not well" for a very long time, but the doctors she was seeing never had her tested, never really...
  18. My daughter recently became extremely ill from cross contamination, we believe. She did not have any gluten food at all. She baked gluten-free pizzas on an old cookie sheet. A cookie sheet that is over 10 years old, has brownish spots of who even knows? and has been used to bake foods with gluten. She felt "funny" immediately. Then came headaches. By...
  19. I heard this said: "it's a gluten FREE diet, not a gluten reduced diet" Cross contamination can cause intestinal injury. NO humans fully digest gluten. I found this to be informative: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Look around the whole site, there is alot of info. Open Original Shared Link Open...
  20. I read somewhere that the sensitivity as well as celiac runs higher in people of Italian heritage. I left a vmail with my husband a little while ago asking him to please call the gastro for the results of an endo/colonoscopy done in September just to end my wondering (he is Italian - she is gluten intolerant). It may just be something she developed along...
  21. hi lpnnurse and welcome. So sorry to hear your daughter isn't feeling well. I would definitely ask the doctor. The only thing I can determine is that if she will be requiring an alert concerning some foods at some point; maybe while at school, after-school activities, etc. kwim? Or if she goes on a clinical trial for a possible drug that may require...
  22. Welcome kckilpat from me, too! (I am new here as well, but for my daughter who is gluten intolerant ) I like dixiebell's suggestion and Thank You to dixiebell. I am going to take a look at that recipe as well.
  23. Thank you for the kindness!!! My daughter feels great today. Yesterday her stomach was still bothering her (and there were some long stretches of "fogging"). So I would say it took her a good 48 hours. She was in bed all day the day it happened - she even called off work But today, all better. I make sure she has her feet covered if I haven...
  24. I would not think twice about running a support group and I don't have a gluten intolerance nor a celiac related condition. As long as I had the most current information and was willing to help as much as I could.. oh, wait. I am doing that HERE!!!! lol! Bringing awareness and offering real help and hope to others is a good thing, in my book. ...
  25. After watching my daughter writhing in pain at 430 am on new years morning, I think I am going to go thru my cabs and remove the old cookware. She became glutened new years eve by what I believe might be our old cookie sheets that she baked gluten-free pizzas on! I believe she may have also been exposed at work for her boss was having her go get food like...
