ARCHIVED How Long Does An Immune Reaction Last After Glutening?
Kquad replied to AllergicToEverything's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am also relatively new, but a real gluten event ( not cross contamination) last more than 6 weeks for me and then fades into the background slowly. First the GI symptoms with some dizziness for a 2-3 weeks, followed by neuro symptoms like MS. They include dizziness, visual disturbances, poor balance, occasional neuropathy and a few other fun things. I put... -

after 5 weeks, I am finally getting better. Any stress still sets off my ataxia and last week I had neuropathy in my hands. If I exercise, watch out, I am in bad shape for a few hours. However, the rest of the time, I am feeling comparably good. : : I was reading repeated exposure can cause permanent brain damage. I am going to be so careful. -
ARCHIVED Gluten In Restaurant Chicken?

some places do inject gluten into their chicken. As sensitive as I am, I just do not eat out anymore -

WOW, I mentioned to my nurse practitioner that I was taking steroids. Next thing I know I am in front of a neurologist. He starts to tell me that the only way I can have brain involvement, is by malabsorption. All of my tests are normal. I mentioned antibodies in the Purkinje cells. He said, "well lets look it up". Opened his browser to medical journals and... -

at least let the MDs know to rule out other causes, such as diabetes, I would never ski in this condition either -

Sound like you might have some neuropathy. That can be serious, let the MD know. I do not have those symptoms. I have memory loss, inability to concentrate, vertigo, and walls moving into my way complications. My coordination is off, got to get better, I already missed a ski season. Update on the steroids, the short term use had a short term effect. Within... -

what kind of enzymes? I do not eat out, but may like to try them if I find myself forced to. I must be following the diet pretty well. Just had my Tissue transglutaminase IgA redrawn. It is now in the upper normal range after 5 months gluten free. I can't enjoy eating out, knowing I may be sick for weeks if someone is careless. It just does not seems... -

Everything I have read about gluten ataxia, is that diet can control it in most cases, but it can last for weeks. Yes, my memory gets worse, but when I was diagnosed, i was having to make cheat sheets at work to remember what i had to do. So I have improved since then. The gluten definitely throw off my memory, but I am so glad I can now remember, who I saw... -
ARCHIVED Cant Function Safely After Glutening

I was looking on the INTERNET, because the dizziness has returned slightly. I can still function. There is something called gluten ataxia. One sufferer stated she was dizzy for 6 weeks after exposures to gluten. It does respond to diet, if slowly. It can also be sporadic. In light of this, my wife just announced, the house will be gluten free. She... -

Some of the MD's were terrible. One told me that since my B12 was fine, she could not see any reason for me to have mental problems or dizziness. Then told me to stick with gluten a while, because 1 of my test did not indicate celiac ( I was IGA positive and IGg negative). Tried saying IGA was the more important test, but I saw talking was not going to help... -

Sorry the steroids cause you problems. There are many generics and other forms of steroids you can try. I know taking something and waiting for a reaction are no fun!! -

well the dizziness was getting better, but still a problem after a week. I had some steroids from bronchitis left around the house. I took it for only 2 days, the dizziness is practically gone and I have my energy back. I realize I may have to stay on longer if I take it earlier in the process, but, I can work safely. Here is to not having to do it often... -

I was diagnosed a few months ago. The test was Iga positive but IGg negative. Always had a nagging suspicion that I really did not have Celiac. Not anymore. I have been very careful and stopped eating out. At work once had fruit and found out they had also cut muffins with the same knife. That resulted in 2 days nausea. These past few weeks my mother-in-law... -
I have been gluten free for about 7 weeks, just started feeling well last week. I have been very vigilant, but I was glutened at an event at work. I don't know if they cut the fruit with the same stuff they cut all the pastries with or if it was their hands, but it happened. My question is, we are planning out trip of a lifetime to see Byzantine ruins in...

Glad I found this thread. I had very bad allergies every spring, I went gluten free April 1st after my blood test and my allergies are now very mild. My Gastro MD was not thrilled since he did a biopsy 12 days later. It was negative. I am not sure if 12 days can really heal damage, but the owner of the local gluten free bakery told me it could. Oh well,...

ARCHIVED What Is Gluten Withdrawal?
Kquad replied to shayre's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I went through 6 weeks of terrible withdrawal. I had weakness, fatigue, depression, nausea, dizziness, and achiness. I have only come out of it this past week. It is finally looking worth it. My so called IBS is gone. Months on Nausea gone. Still have a little fatigue, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. If only they have given me the celiac panel... -
ARCHIVED My Liver Enzymes Are High Again
Kquad replied to kimis's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My liver enzymes have been slightly elevated at times. All they find is fatty liver, which can be caused by absorption disorders like crohn's and celiac ( I have no other risk factors for a fatty liver). However, it is always good to make sure it is nothing else -
ARCHIVED Dizziness With Milk
Kquad replied to Kquad's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks, it is always nice not to know one is alone and crazy . Do you have problems with cheese? I did a search on the forum, there was one woman who had the same symptoms 5 years ago. How long have you had this and how long have you been gluten free? I am hoping it is temporary. You described the milk feeling perfectly -
ARCHIVED Dizziness With Milk
Kquad posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The Dr has finally convinced me I have Celiac with a positive transglutimase and not one of the false positives. After a month, I am finally feeling better. I had what I believe was a terrible gluten withdrawal. The primary issue now is a weird kind of dizziness after either regular milk or lactose free milk. This can be raw or cooked. Strangely, I seem OK... -
ARCHIVED Could It Be Crohn's
Kquad replied to Kquad's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, I had the TTG. The prep is golytely and bisacodyl, YUCK!!! . My first cousin had crohn's, so it is in the family. My symptoms exploded from mild/moderate to severe in a couple of days. I was flat on my back and thought I was going to die for a week, although there was quite a variation throughout the day, up and down. Now the GI symptoms seem to...
