ARCHIVED Question For Those Of You Who Are Lactose Intolerant.
josh052980 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Is anyone here intolerant to ONLY milk? I went off dairy entirely when I went gluten free, then slowly reintroduced it. Yogurt, cheeses, that kind of thing do fine with me, but I put milk back in the mix this week and things have come back. Is it possible to be intolerant to just milk? -

ARCHIVED Help! Not Sure What This Is, But Trying To Figure It Out...
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I HATE the possibility of not eating there; there's not many places near me that are safe to go out and eat, so it's yet another limitation. But waking up in a sweat kinda sucks too... -

I may just do that. I can't seem to narrow down the culprit. It's not every time I eat there though, that's the kicker. I guess it's going to have to be a once in a while thing. -

I'm still thinking it's MSG. I've heard they lace the burgers with it too, but I've never been able to find a way to substantiate that claim. -

I am fine with peanuts/legumes, and it wouldn't matter anyways, I didn't have any fries. -

Ok, the really crappy part here is that it seems to happen only after eating at Five Guys. It's not a glutening, so I'm not sure what is going on. If I eat at Five Guys (and I've been known to be a real ass there. The Five Guys in my neighborhood seems to be the worst of them. They have to be CONSTANTLY reminded about CC, to the point that I had them remake... -
I ate at Five Guys last night, which is awesome, they're great about gluten free, but I think they're pretty heavy on MSG. I've always gotten tired/achy feeling arms, and heart palpitations for about 2 days if I have MSG, and I seem to get these symptoms from Five Guys, almost every time I'm there. It's not a glutening, my reaction to gluten and MSG is very...

ARCHIVED Anyone Taking A Vitamin B12 Supplement?

I wasn't drinking coffee, it made me feel as though I'd drank a hundred cups of coffee. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Taking A Vitamin B12 Supplement?
josh052980 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I took one 500mcg B12 supp pill 2 days ago and I vow here and now I will never touch the stuff again! I have WAY TOO MUCH energy, like a drank a hundred cups of coffee, I'm jittery, panicky, heart palpitations, I hate it. Anyone ever experience this, and if so, what'd you do to get over it? I already threw the pills out (Nature Made 500mcg), but need to... -
I take a multi that has B12 in it... Anyone know if this is enough? I have the same symptoms as listed above A LOT of the time.

ARCHIVED Getting Worse?
josh052980 replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you cut out gluten only a few weeks ago, you're still healing. When I went gluten-free, the first few months were hell. I still felt like I was on the stuff. Even now, after over a year, I will still get seemingly random symptoms. The symptoms you get during a reaction may change too, mine have over time. The key is not to get discouraged. Stick with gluten... -
I got some cross contamination over this past weekend; so obviously I've had some symptoms. I've went from primarily digestive related symptoms, to almost all neuro symptoms now (body aches, fatigue, sweating for no good reason, headaches). I've noticed now when I'm having symptoms, I'll get a little blood on the toilet paper, but never in my stool itself...

ARCHIVED Anyone In Mid-Michigan?
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Figures! I have plans this Saturday, otherwise I'd head out there and meet some people. -
I'm a 32 year old, gluten free for one year male. My family tries to support that I have to be gluten free as best they can, but obviously, unless you're there yourself, it's hard to understand. I'm looking for some local Celiacs/gluten intolerance who I can commiserate with. It'd be great to get to know some of you, whether you're near me or not. Drop me...

Has anyone gotten an answer one way or the other out of Mars on these? I emailed them and got the generic "We're sorry you experienced an issue, please email us the bar code and packaging dates from your product..." email. I ate a bag of these yesterday and had IMMEDIATE symptoms, which to me either says cross contamination from the pretzel M&M's they...

ARCHIVED Gluten Symptoms After First Time Eating Gluten Free Breads?
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is my issue right now, to the word. I've had a headache for two weeks straight, except that one day where I skipped the Chex, and voila, headache is gone. I ate them yesterday and now I'm near a migraine again. I skipped them this morning though, so hopefully once this headache clears I'll start getting totally better again. No more flavored Chex for... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Symptoms After First Time Eating Gluten Free Breads?
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think I've found the culprit; Chocolate Chex & Cinnamon Chex. Yesterday, I skipped having either of these for breakfast as I had some left over gluten free buckwheat pancakes, and I felt AMAZING the latter part of the day once I got the remaining stuff outta my system if you know what I mean. This morning I had some Chocolate Chex, and I'm right back... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Symptoms After First Time Eating Gluten Free Breads?
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yup, sorry kids, just bad wording on my part. CC or not, I kinda think of it in my head as "gluteny crappiness" simply because my gluten issue is the root cause of the problem. I was thinking through the remnants of a migraine too, so I was a little off yesterday. Good news is I'm almost 100% again, so I know FOR SURE it wasn't gluten. If it was I'd be sick... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Symptoms After First Time Eating Gluten Free Breads?
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That's what I'm meaning; I don't think this is gluten, while the symptoms are similar, they're not the same as being glutened. It feels a LOT like after I got nailed by the oats though. What I need to do to be sure of things is get over this and feel normal again, then give Udi's another shot, then I'll be sure. -

josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just tried Udi's for the first time this weekend too... And I ate some of it yesterday. Perhaps between BRM and Udi's it was a perfect storm of gluteny crappiness? -
ARCHIVED Gluten Symptoms After First Time Eating Gluten Free Breads?
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just read about this last night. BRM gluten free oats mess me up pretty bad, so I guess I have my answer. I was nearly at a migraine last night. It's weird though, the symptoms now take longer to show up in me, I guess cause I've been gluten free so long that I'm starting to actually heal? -

josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had a feeling that'd be the case... The Udi's stuff didn't phase me one little bit and it tastes just like I remember the real deal being. Guess I'll stick with that and avoid BRM stuff at all costs. -
ARCHIVED Feeling Really Demoralized
josh052980 replied to BabsV's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sometimes chicken breasts are injected with chicken broth to "enhance" the flavor, and as a result, fresh chicken turns out to not be gluten free. I ran into this as well and it was infuriated. It sucks having to worry about EVERYTHING you eat, without having to worry about fresh poultry to top it off. I use Tyson brand stuff if I need some fresh chicken...
