ARCHIVED Seeming Spontaneous Symptoms!
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm sorry you're going through the same thing Cait... I'm actually almost 100% today... Hopefully I stay that way so I can heal now. I think stress plays a HUGE part in it too... I'm stressed at work like none other right now, so it's gotta be hindering me. I hope you feel well soon Cait! -
ARCHIVED Ways Of Coping With Glutening....
josh052980 replied to glutenfreeinminnesota's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think we all cope with it different, as the symptoms tend to vary from person to person. It kinda becomes a game of trying things that seem like they might work, and finding what works best for you. When I get glutened, I feel like I have the flu for a good portion of a day, and then feel either achy all over my body, or lightheaded, or both. I lose... -
ARCHIVED Seeming Spontaneous Symptoms!
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Does anyone know if Hershey's is safe? The only thing I can come up with that I ate that might have caused this was a Hershey's with Almonds bar last night... -

Here's a link to Lay's website, for the chips I ate, they implicitly state gluten free. Open Original Shared Link -
So this morning when I woke up, I was feeling pretty good. I'd been glutened twice last week, and today had been the first day I'd been feeling close to normal since Thursday of last week. Around noon, I got insanely nauseous and bloated, within a span of minutes. All I've ate today has been gluten free... Just some corn Chex w/honey and lactose free milk...

ARCHIVED Glutened By Maalox!?!?!
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It for sure has gluten in it. From other posts and sites I'm reading, it was for sure the Maalox. I'm beginning to feel better, but every time I get glutened, I start having energy issues, it just sucks me dry... -
ARCHIVED Glutened By Maalox!?!?!
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm not for sure what the culprit is in the Maalox, but I'm assuming it's the dubious word "flavoring". -
ARCHIVED Glutened By Maalox!?!?!
josh052980 replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I actually switched over as of today to Tums. I looked on the shelf at Walmart and every single pack I saw bears a "Gluten-Free" spot on the back of the packaging. -
So after getting glutened earlier this week, I was finally getting back to 100% last night, but had some spicy food. I took some Maalox before heading to bed, and was up in the middle of the night feeling like ass soup.. Turns out Maalox wasn't a good choice after doing some reading. I'm more ranting than anything here... I'm at almost 4 weeks into going...

They were Kroger dry roasted peanuts. I didn't think to check the label, cause I'm still new to this. Turns out Kroger uses MSG in the dry roasted nuts. 2 days later, I'm still sick, but not as bad. I get a lot of bloating, nausea and lower abdominal cramps. Good news is, since I caught it before I'd ate a lot of the nuts (a handful is all it took to do this...

Since you brought this up, I got glutened yesterday... By, of all things, dry roasted peanuts. It's been 24 hours and I'm still feeling symptoms, though they aren't as bad as normal because I didn't get much. At any rate, I'd be willing to bet that by Friday I might start clearing up, and Saturday or Sunday will return to near 100%.

ARCHIVED Foods To Eat After Being Glutened?
josh052980 replied to rnb2114's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm dealing with issues from being glutened as we speak. What seems to help me is eating marshmallows when the stomach pains come, nuts work well too. Vernor's or any other gluten free ginger ale works really well too. Just sit tight, take it easy and get better! -
If I get glutened, which I still do cause I'm new to this, I seem to have bad symptoms for a day, maybe 2, and then slowly get better. I've had it take up to a week to get better before, which is beyond frustrating, especially starting out like I am. I doubt you're alone, I think we each kind of "personalize" the symptoms, and it probably depends on how...

ARCHIVED 3-Weeks On Gluten Free Diet
josh052980 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well, I've been at this for about 3 weeks now, and I've seen a dramatic improvement. I haven't been 100% gluten free... I'm still learning the ropes, so I've made a few mis-steps, but over all, things have changed immensely. For starters, I've had at least 4 days where I've had no symptoms at all.. And the days where I have had symptoms because of unintentional... -

ARCHIVED Tums Gluten Free?
josh052980 replied to LindaB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I actually have a bottle of Tums 750s in my hand right now, and there is a tab at the bottom of the back label which clearly states "Gluten Free". -
Welcome Anya! I hope you find some good support and new friends here! I've only been around a few weeks, but it seems a great community and resource. All the best Josh

ARCHIVED Getting Symptoms Under Control
josh052980 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Does anyone have any good recommendations, other than cutting gluten out obviously, for cutting down the symptoms once you get "glutoned"? I'm going gluten free, working on my first week, and obviously still learning the ropes. Was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas to get symptoms under control quickly when they do appear? -
ARCHIVED Symptoms Only Sometimes?
josh052980 replied to DanieGurl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've had symptoms on and off for 3 or 4 years now. They seem to come back the worst when I'm stressed out. I haven't been to the doctor yet (I need less stress, not more). But I'm in process of cutting gluten out entirely and feel dramatically better. Even when I have symptoms now, they seem to not last as long. I used to get messed for days, but I think... -
