  1. Has anyone tried these? Not labeled as certified, contains oat flour and out fiber. I am on vacation and in a hurry I picked them up for quick, easy meals without checking the label. So the last few days I have been getting progressively sicker, I'm not going to eat anymore but just wondered if anyone else has had any problems? Maybe it's just the oats...
  2. I'm also having problems; it will be 3 yrs in August that I'm gluten-free (strict) and still having symptoms. I signed up for a clinical study after my doc was no help and they did a biopsy today. Will be a week or so for results but damage (flattened mucosa) was still visible in my small intestine. Very frustrating! Just wanted to let you know you're not...

    ARCHIVED Steroids?

Oh, I definitely will! I already have an appt with my gastro! I just feel so crummy today, I was wracking my (foggy) brain for a quick fix. I think I'm just gonna cancel my plans for this week and hang out at home to recover. I'll take a vaca next year! Luckily I was only staying with relatives so no reservations to cancel!

    ARCHIVED Steroids?

Denise, thank you, good to know there may be light at the end of this tunnel! I know that I'll get over this acute glutening but it's good to hear there may be help for the constant issues too!

    ARCHIVED Steroids?

Thanks Nicole, I actually have 2 problems going on. I have been diagnosed celiac and gluten-free for 2 years. Over the last 3 months or so my stomach has gotten as bad as before diagnosis. D 5+times a day, almost late for work because of it, exhaustion etc. I just made an appt to see my gastro again, to ask for a follow up biopsy. I have been really careful...
  6. I did a similar thing last night! I was having a few ciders and went to the fridge for another one, I didn't know it but someone had put a bud lite in the cider 6pack holder. I didn't even look at the bottle (I was talking) I just popped the top and took a big swig! doh! I do feel pretty bad today, nauseous, tired, stomach cramps-not a good way to START my...
  7. Has anyone taken steroids for either ongoing symptoms or for a glutening episode? If so, how long where you on them and how much?

    ARCHIVED Alcohol

Imagine how I feel after 5 glasses last night! LOL
  9. Auburn (with gray highlights! LOL) Welsh, German and Swedish.
  10. Welcome Shay! Sorry to hear you are so stressed out, but glad you have a diagnosis that will help you get your health back! It can be overwhelming at first but take a deep breath and know you can do it! I follow the KISS mentality (Keep it simple, silly!) I started with the easy (and cheap)sale stuff; a big bag of rice, meats, eggs, veggies, fruits (lots...
  11. Ah, the last time I was glutened was 2 days ago. Still suffering; D has quieted down but still have cramps (especially after eating!), tired and irritable! It was my own stupidity. Pressured into going out to eat somewhere with visiting parents (who are in their 80's and clueless about cc). After trying, again, to explain it I gave up. I was already exhausted...
  12. Thanks Laura! I didn't have any rolls, just plain old raw sliced salmon and tuna. Thanks for the info though, I have never tried fake crab-luckily I live on the eastern shore of maryland-plenty of the real thing around here!
  13. I've got one or the other, I feel pretty yucky. I was stuck at work yesterday(supposed to be there just a short time-ended up being all day), no emergency food and our boss offered to buy lunch for us; chinese takeout. I saw on their menu they had sushi, I ordered tuna and salmon sashimi. I figured I'd be safe with just fish right? It came with with "kari...
  14. I haven't given up dairy BUT I rely heavily on lactose enzyme pills and probiotics. I am very, very sensitive and usually have to take at least 1 pill even for a little butter on a potato or a cup of yogurt etc. But after 10 months gluten-free I was pleasantly surprised last night when we made gyros with feta cheese and greek yogurt sauce, didn't take any...
  15. Yay! So glad to hear that your hard work and struggle is finally paying off!
  16. Welcome! Congrats on taking control and going gluten-free! Your story is similar to so many here. I can relate to dr's throwing antidepressants at the problem! I can't count how many times my dr(s) have written me a prescription for them, paxil, zoloft, and I don't know what else; I stopped filling them! Also something I've noticed is that I no longer wake...
  17. Hi, just wanted to put in my 2cents. Just prior to my Celiac dx, my liver enzymes came back high too, as well as my cholesterol. My general dr wanted to put me on a statin, (as well as antidepressants for IBS!lol) but I never filled the prescription either. I had already made an appt with gastro for testing, had done my research and knew that in addition...
  18. I ate a lot of hardboiled eggs as well as bananas with almond butter for breakfast and snacks for the first few months. I also ate at least one batch of gluten-free brownies a week for the first 6 months. LOL not very nutritious, but they are yummy and help put on some lbs! Look around the boards here. There's a few threads with breakfast lunch and dinner...
  19. I'm sorry you are feeling so stressed. before diagnosis my anxiety ran pretty high. my doctors kept trying to give me antidepressants and anxiety meds. when I went gluten-free last august I was more focused on my gi issues so I didn't pay attn to my anxiety level. but I do notice the difference now. I don't jump out of bed @ full steam with my mind racing...
  20. ok, I have to eat crow now and I hope that no one else has to. I called tyson yesterday to ask about their chicken(holly farms)was gluten-free, given an answer that it was. and I also emailed them the same question so on the phone everything was ok but I got an email today saying that they couldn't verify if the chicken was gluten-free without a upc number...
  21. Hi figment, I was diagnosed with IBS at 14 or so and Celiacs at 46. My tummy was a real mess. I was not digesting alot of different foods-gross! Lettuce ok that might be kinda normal not to digest, but french fries and cooked veggies came out like they went in! I have been gluten-free since last august and I too have good and bad days every week, it's...
  22. Oh, thanks Sylvia for the info on the broth!
  23. Fyi- Sylvia- I called them today and they told me no gluten! yay Jestgar- I am CHEAP! lol, I buy in bulk when it's on sale that's why I was so concerned, I had stocked up my freezer quite a bit when it was on sale last and hadn't noticed the small print about the broth or I probably wouldn't have bought it, I woulda found some other meat on sale! Kar...
  24. My local grocery (food lion) has recently started carrying Holly Farms fresh chicken. Well I have stocked up my freezer with quite a bit of it and just noticed 90% of it "contains up to12% of natural chicken broth". holly farms is owned by Tyson, I searched both their websites and couldn't find any info. I,m planning on making some calls tomorrow to investigate...
  25. hi~I'm not sure. I know that the last bloodwork I had before going gluten free showed both my ast and alt elevated. the next blood work showed that it was well within normal limits. I have not changed the amt I drink. the only thing changed was going gluten free. so for me I believe that gluten was causing some kinda autoimmune issue
