  1. I know how proud you feel!!! As soon as my DD (13yo) went gluten-free she started growing b4 my eyes, and she went from a size 4 shoe to a 6 in like 2 mths. Moms know best--Fire that idiot of a Dr!
  2. Glanced at a few of the articles, they seem good. Thx for finding that link!
  3. rotflmao!!!!!!!!
  4. Does anyone here (or is a parent of a student) attend or is planning to attend a college in the US that accommodates the gluten-free lifestyle? I think it would be great if we all list that college here for future students to consider as part of the college search. A list like this will serve our community for years to come. And as more colleges get with...
  5. Say what my DD says "It messes me up!" end of story. Chg the subject @ the party. If ppl insist on knowing how it messes you up--get gory & see how fast they'll want to chg the subject. As for ur husband has he ever gone with you to the Dr? Sometimes when info comes from a Dr it has more validity to some ppl. If your Dr. explains to him how how...
  6. @darn210 of course the countdown is necessary!! just like counting down to a big holiday or other big event! no other reasons to countdown in the mind of a child. B)
  7. My 13 yo & 17 yo always text me if they are unsure if something has gluten when they are out with friends or something. I am lucky in that respect. It's a non embarrassing way for them to make sure they don't eat something they shouldn't even tho they have no gastro symptoms. If ur son is unsure he cld text u & his friends would nvr know. Also...
  8. Is it possible that your anxiety & frustration is upsetting her? You cannot show her how annoyed you get when she doesn't eat. Can she or will she drink a milkshake? sry I don't know if she can have dairy. Also be sure to give her a daily gluten-free multivitamin. Make a list of the things she used to eat, & make or buy a gluten-free version...
  9. what's scd??
  10. I'll be going with my DD & a friend or 2!
  11. Did u say you were on antibiotics for 1 year? Antibiotics can mess up the balance of bacteria in your digestive track. So ur discomfort may be stemming from that. The test for celiac is simply a blood test. Is it really too much $?
  12. I always put my DD's thermos inside a large size ziplock bag as we did have a small spill one day. If there is any my leakage or spill it is contained inside the ziplock.
  13. if you have bloody stools you should get a colonoscopy asap. It could indicate internal bleeding as in tumor or ulcerative colitis. However if the blood is bright red you could be bleeding from a hemmoroid or fissure. In any event get it chkd out.
  14. I don't see any problem with him being a celiac I do not like that he gets mean & withdrawn. How mean is mean? what does he do? Maybe he is mean cuz you are trying to help to much when he feels bad & rather be lft alone? If he needs to withdraw for a while & you know he does, is it really a problem for you? Ppl do need private space ya know...
  15. ok I stand corrected however it is a fun rumor to spread lol
  16. Lisa you say it's a myth, but I too believe envelope glue has gluten. I will surely stand corrected if you can tell me how you know for sure or point me to the proof that debunks the myth.
  17. well it 's actually no different than ordering a chargrillled breast with no bun & an order of waffle fries which is what I've been doing for the past 6 mths. Well I guess packaging it as a gluten-free kids meal brings more attention.
  18. Dr Oz barely scratches the surface with many of the subjects he discusses. He talks too fast & jumps from 1 subject to the next w/o fully covering the previous subject.I guess with a 1 hr show & 20-25 of those mt are spent in commercials he has to squeeze everything in in the time allotted. I generally do like him but he should stick to 1 subject...

    ARCHIVED Hair Loss!

have ur vit d levels chkd too. Most ppl celiac or not have low levels. Take a gluten-free multivitamin you are most likely suffering from malnutrition. Multivitamins are best taken with food 2x a day. If label says take 1x a day then cut it in 1/2 so you can take 1/2 in the am & 1/2 in the pm. If you take it all at once your body doesn't absorb it all...
  20. irish plz clarify did u say: It ______messes me up! or It messes me the _____up! lol
  21. My DD (13) was hanging with her god brother (23) the other day at the mall & he offered to buy her an auntie anne's pretzel ( her favorite!!) & she declined saying she can't eat wheat. "Why? Does it mess you up?" Exactly! She then admitted to me she didn't know what to say to ppl who offered her glutenous food. Her god brother provided the answer...

  23. There are many threads on this forum with a plethora of ideas for picky eaters. Take a little time to read them & you will find many ideas. I would also suggest to make a list of what he does like to eat then find the gluten free way to make it. Pamela's flour can be used for all sorts of baking, cookies, pancakes, etc. Let your boy help you in the...
