  1. He watched my older son get his done and he even told the 6 yo that it didn't hurt. And I tried telling hims that we wanted to make sure he's not sick. Bit since he doesn't feel sick he was like "but I'm not sick!" I don't know how to argue with his logic. Lol
  2. Do you ever feel like all you ever talk about is celiac? I'm newly diagnosed (about 3 weeks ago) and it weighs on my mind a lot! I feel like I'm always talking about my disease. It is not what defines me but it is new and I'm learning. I feel like a ray of light has shone down on me and I finally have a reason for why I was feeling the way I did. It actually...
  3. I was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago and want to have my children tested. My two older kids are 19 and 18 and are fine with it. My 6 year old on the other hand threw the biggest fit. I mean kicking, screaming, flailing and everything. I swear I thought that Satan had taken over my baby! He is asymptomatic for now but I'd really like to know if he has it or...
  4. I am not but I had to jump in and say that I've vacationed there and LOVE it there! At one point, I thought about moving there. Beautiful city!! hopefully someone can help you out.
  5. And what did the server say? Did you at least eat for free??
  6. I'm from NW Ohio and would love to start a support group! I think there uses to be one but it doesn't exist any more. Let me know!
  7. I've been in there and talked to the owner. All of the items made there are gluten-free. They have 2 facilities and everything made at the one I went to is gluten-free.
  8. I'm right with you. I got my official diagnosis June 7 of this year and immediately went gluten-free. I felt amazing until this weekend. I was out of town and thought I got glutened. I'm wondering now though. I've read a lot of veterans say that it can take weeks, even months to really get better. I felt 10 ft tall and bullet proof at first. Now I'm laying...
  9. I'm with Poppi. What's mean is that he's not taiking your health seriously! I say ban the bread!
  10. My doc is very good about things. She definitely said I have celiac. She said to go low residue for a bit and work through it. I would much rather have her overreact than umderreact like I've heard many docs do! The cramping right now is crazy! I'm in bed with a heating pad. I took a vicodin and an Ativan.
  11. I feel your pain! I am 3 weeks in and was feeling great until last weekend. We went out of town and despite my best efforts, got glutened. Today I am in bed with the heating pad, vicodin and Ativan. I am in so much pain! I also know what you mean about feeling so much worse now that you know what it feels like to feel good. It was just normal for us before...
  12. Thanks for the advice! I definitely do that next time I have to stay at a hotel.
  13. Open Original Shared Link I went to this bakery/deli shortly after being diagnosed. The whole place is gluten-free. I want to live here! Lol They also have a web site where you can purchase items and have them shipped to you!
  14. Our hotel didn't have a kitchenette. I really feel awful. How long till I get back to where I was and even better? This is terrible! I don't miss feeling like this!
  15. I was staying at a hotel, not with my cousin. I trust that she would have been very accommodating to me and my disease. I am feeling better than earlier but still not great like I was. Normally when we vacation, we stay in a condo with our timeshare and have a full kitchen so that won't normally be a problem. I will remember next time, too, to check...
  16. I have noticed the funny taste too. I can also smell it too though. There is a distinct smell I smell when my son has just eaten something with gluten in it. I also tasted it this weekend when I was eating something that was supposedly gluten-free that I don't think was. I think it had gluten cau I'm sicker than a dog right now and an emotional wreck (all...
  17. I was out of town this weekend. Hubby had to work and we tagged along and visited some family and did some sightseeing. I don't know what it was but something made me sick. I explained to everyone that my food need to be prepped in clean pans with clean utensils. I think though, that despite my best effort, something happened. I am beside myself! I don't...

ARCHIVED My Gi Doc Is Amazing!

I am in Toledo, OH and my GI doc is amazing! Dr. Reddy at the Toledo Clinic. The first time I went to her, she order blood work and within a week I had the results and a positive diagnosis! Not months or years of misdiagnosis. One visit! I am feeling much better and getting healthier every day! I had an endoscopy after the blood test where she did a biopsy...
  19. She got 5 minutes of my time that I'll never get back! Such nonsense!
  20. I love how she thinks that our disease is "trendy!" Oh how I wish that were the case! And the fact that she reefers to it as an allergy shows how uneducated she is about it. It is NOT an allergy, it's intolerance...like the intolerance I have for such ignorance!
  21. My bff is a mgr for OG and I've found it to be safe. She told me that the pasta dish they had was terrible. She said it's like a TV dinner. I was fine with the salad without croutons but I don't think my sensitivity is as harsh as some people. She also said that the end of this month, they're rolling out a new gluten-free menu that has more pasta choices...
  22. We have a deli/bakery close to us that is totally gluten-free. When I first walked in, I saw a bright light and heard angels singing! Lol
  23. I would say use canned air (like for the computer). Then I would wipe it down with an alcohol wipe.
  24. Try this link: Open Original Shared Link. I don't know if you have to be a member and logged in or not.
  25. There are some gluten-free items listed in the foods. There are also a lot of community recipes (recipes that members post) and posts in the message boards. If you do a search of the entire site for "gluten free" you'll find a lot. Please let me know if you have any other questions and I can look up stuff for you.
