  1. The restaurant is Indian and they only offer buffet for the meal I would be attending for. Although this is a team lunch I think the focus is more team building/fun then a 'real' meeting. Perhaps I should explain the situation to my supervisors and ask if they mind if I stay at the office so I can eat as well.
  2. My job has organized a team lunch this coming week. I contacted the restaurant to find out if they could do gluten free. They didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I asked if I could bring in my own food explaining I was coming with a group and was doing this due to health reasons of being on an extremely restricted diet. They said no outside...
  3. Thanks Lisa! I'm frustrated with not feeling better and trying to get some real hope that someday I'll actually get better.
  4. I'm tired of continuing to feel bad (like I'm not healing) while following the gluten free diet. So I've decided to try the specific carbohydrate diet (SCD). I'm curious to know for those who have tried it did it work for you and if so how long you were on it before you started to feel better. I appreciate your responses!
  5. The blood tests are very accurate for celiac. So considering that and the fact that you have a first degree relative with the disease, the chances you have the disease are pretty good. My brother went through the same thing. I had symptoms and was diagnosed with late stage celiac. I told my family to be tested. My brother tested very slightly positive...
  6. I'm sorry you are going through this. And I'm not an expert, so really don't know what it is. I can tell you I do think celiac disease messes up your immune system. My CBC has been messed up since I've been diagnoses with celiac (my white blood cell count is off). I've also noticed that I don't heal as I should. I think this is due to poor immunity and...
  7. My brother and I both have celiac disease but neither of my parents tested positive for it. I have no children but my brother has a daughter who has had stomach pains for awhile. I was concerned she might have the disease but she did not test positive on the blood test. For her they think it is just stress. But of course you know you can have the disease...
  8. Thanks! Good suggestions. I'd welcome more too if anyone has any.
  9. Thanks Dilettantesteph. For me if food isn't particular tasty I just don't want to eat it. And I'm already pretty skinny from celiac so I'm afraid what will happen if I'm not eating particularly tasty food (and fruits are veggies are not particularly tasty to me). Did you just throw a bunch of fruits and veggies together?
  10. Thanks Bubba's Mom for the suggestions. I've tried digestive enzymes off and on and didn't really think I could tell a difference, but I could always try again. I want to avoid rice too just to see if it makes a difference. If I could eat rice I'd be fine. But without grains I'm afraid I'll starve.
  11. I'm still consuming dairy currently, but that is one of the things I wanted to try getting rid of. I've heard some people have issues with all grains and potatoes so was wanting to try avoiding those too. If I could eat some grains or potatoes I think I'd find enough to eat. But if I'm only eating fruits and veggies meat and nuts, I'm afraid I'll starve...
  12. Hi all. So some of you have suggested to me previously to try a diet of just whole foods so just fruits and vegetables and meat (as my symptoms are not going away just doing the gluten free diet). I'm thinking I should try this, but I need some suggestions for what I can eat (I'm afraid I'll starve). Can you give me meal ideas (like what you have for breakfast...
  13. I see you said you didn't think it hurt you. Do you think it helped at all? I so want to heal!!! Frustrating waiting for something good to happen.
  14. Yep, I've been taking a probiotic in pill form for awhile. I've decided to try and add more probiotics so have started having yogurt for breakfast and also including kefir. I was reading that raw apple cider vinegar has probiotic properties too so that got me interested in it.
  15. I did try taking L-glutamine but I've seen no difference in symptoms so looking for other possibilities.
  16. I've been reading some good things about raw apple cider vinegar improving digestion. I'm wondering if taking it might help heal my gut heal from the affects of celiac (I seem to be healing very slowly if at all). I'm curious if anyone else has used it and feels it has helped them heal. Although I have all the same symptoms as when I was diagnosed, I'm...
  17. I only had the endoscopy with biopsy (no colonoscopy). I remember it being a little tender where they took the biopsy right after they were finished. But then it was fine. The doctor's office called me the morning after I had the procedure to ask how I was doing. I hope yours does the same thing and you can report how you feel. Or if they don't call...
  18. Yes. While you have to carry the gene to get the disease, just because you have the gene does not necessarily mean you will develop the disease (although you will always be at risk). My sibling and I both tested positive for the disease but neither of my parents did. There are a lot of health problems related to celiac on my mom's side of the family so...
  19. I've been having problems with pressure in my head and have read this could be from nerve damage and that B12 might help. I've had my B12 levels checked via a blood test and they came out very normal. But I've also read this blood test is not very accurate in showing B12 deficiency. I'm curious if others who have supposedly normal B12 levels have benefited...
  20. I'm sorry to hear this. Since you started having symptoms again have you added any new products? If so I would suggest trying to eliminate them. The difficult thing is even if you are using and consuming all of the same stuff as when the diet was working it is possible that one or more of your products may be contaminating you.
  21. Does anyone know if Sun Yun Kimchi is gluten free? I want to buy a bottled kimchi and all the stores near me seem to only stock this brand now. They used to have a grand that said on the packaging that is was gluten free. This brand does not say on the product and I'm having trouble finding information for it online. The ingredients mention natural flavoring...
  22. My experience with all-inclusives is stuff gets messed up that shouldn't, but if you have celiac disease (or might have it) you have to ask yourself if it is worth it to take that chance with your health. Most people don't really understand how to handle food, etc. If it is only fruit you are going to eat and you can like take an apple and clean it yourself...
  23. Are you looking at a specific all-inclusive or just wondering about all-inclusives in general? I know there is one company that arranges gluten free vacations. They will talk to the place for the group to try and ensure no contamination. I used to do all-inclusives before I was diagnosed with celiac. Now I'm too nervous to try and go there if I have to...
  24. Thanks for your reply. For the infections you had did you actually feel like you had an infection? I don't. My biggest symptom is I still have loose stools all the time.
  25. I saw the doctor today to discuss the results of my ttg iga. He wasn't bothered that at 6 months on the gluten-free diet I was still positive (score of 33). He was concerned that I wasn't seeing changes in my symptoms yet. I asked if other food intolerances could be causing this. He didn't think so. I asked if the elevated ttg iga may be because I have...
