  1. I have a DVD called Yoga Therapy Prescriptions with Laura Hawes. It has yoga sequences it says are helpful for different health conditions. It doesn
  2. I understand what you are going through. I'm 38 and single and have not dated since being diagnosed a year ago. I fear having that conversation with a guy, but there are some serious consequences in getting gluten in your system whether it is through kissing or otherwise. I think it is a good test whether the guy is willing to brush and floss before kissing...
  3. Headache and bloating are both signs of digestive problems. I have problems with almonds. It may be that your body is ok with cashews and not almonds. You may find that you need to let your system heal more and that you will be able to tolerate almonds later. I'm hoping that will happen for me.
  4. Thank you so much for your response! Great info! Did the doctor determine what vitamin deficiencies/tests to run or was that recommended by the dietician? And what exactly did the dietician do? I've never been to a dietician so not sure what all they cover. Thanks!
  5. Per SCD I have eliminated dairy except for homemade yogurt and hard cheeses. I have had antibodies retested. They are down significantly but still testing positive. Doc said he didn't think it was because of getting gluten into my system.
  6. Thanks for your response Lisa. Sorry, I'm very frustrated about this this week. Perhaps my GI doc is giving me bad info then. He was telling me after 6 months I should have good stools and that this was indicating perhaps I had the refractory celiac. That freaked me out. I've been doing the specific carbohydrate diet the last couple of months with some...
  7. Tomorrow is my 1 year anniversary being gluten free. I was diagnosed with celiac with quite a bit of damage to my system (Marsh stage 3B). I don
  8. I'm reiterating what the others have said. It is very important for all first degree relatives to get checked for the disease (and get checked more than once as you can develop it later even if you don't have it now). It is common for several people in a family to test positive for the disease (even if you don't think you have symptoms of it). My brother...
  9. What are you eating on your elimination diet? I tried eliminating a bunch of stuff from my diet leaving mainly raw fruits and vegetables. This made me very sick. It took me awhile to realize and accept that my digestive system is too messed up right now to handle that (raw foods are hard to digest).
  10. I've been trying the SCD diet (although struggling with eliminating sugar). In general it seems to be helping but I'm at the beginning stages of the diet so can't eat much variety. I'm trying to introduce new foods but have had some issues with that (can't tolerate avocados or almond flour yet). I don't know what else to try so will continue with this...

    ARCHIVED Need Advice

Flowerqueen, thanks for the input on the thyroid. I had it tested a year ago and they said it was normal, but they only did the one test. My mom has an underactive thyroid and I've tested low but normal before so maybe some more tests would reveal that that is the problem. Cavernio - I think I'm too skinny to do a fast. I keep losing more and more weight...

I'm mostly dairy free except for the cheese which I eat a ton of because it is like the only thing on this SCD diet I can eat now that I really like and find filling. I wonder though if it isn't causing issues with my hormones. Sigh, it would be so much easier if I didn't have to eat at all. I appreciate the post on looking for gluten in the house. I...
  13. Thanks! You mentioned that you can make nut butter. I'm interested in trying that as well. What do you need to do?

Good info. What do the adrenals do and if they are not ok what can they do about it?

    ARCHIVED Need Advice

I had my thyroid checked last year (and have been having it checked regularly as it has tested low but normal before and my mom has low thyroid so figured I may have problems with it eventually). I will ask to have it checked again. I'll ask for all these specific thyroid tests as I'm pretty sure they didn't do all of these tests but just a couple of them...
  17. I'm frustrated and uncertain of what to do about my remaining symptoms. I was diagnosed with celiac disease almost a year ago and have been completely gluten free. The biopsy came back showing a lot of damage so I understand that can help explain slower recovery. I see very few changes though. I have less D but my stools tend to not be formed which my...
  18. You might also want to consider trying the specific carbohydrate diet or one of the similar ones that takes out most allergens and leaves you with food that is easy to digest. You can slowly try adding stuff back in which may be an easier way to figure out what food is causing you issues.
  19. I was diagnosed with late stage celiac disease almost a year ago (probably had it my whole life and only got diagnosed at age 37 when I asked specifically for the test). I've been very vigilant about being gluten free but not all my symptoms went away. In fact not much changed really. Going back to the doc he gave me prescription digestive enzymes (that...
  20. If you do facebook there is a great group on there where you can post questions and get answers from different people who follow the diet.
  21. For some people it can take awhile for diarrhea to subside even going gluten free. I've found I needed to eliminate a lot of other foods before I really started to have normal stools. Do you have celiac disease? Personally I would avoid the restaurant unless they could tell you they could prepare something gluten free without risk of cross contamination...
  22. That sounds awful! I'm sorry you are going through this. I wonder if you may have something else going on besides something like celiac. Have you seen a doctor about this? Also have you had your vitamin levels checked? Some of my neurologic symptoms seemed to get better after I added a lot more B vitamins.
  23. I have not had a colonoscopy yet (just the endoscopy and biopsy that confirmed the celiac). My doc could see the damage in my intestines even before the biopsy results came back. I worry about my colon as my grandmother had colon cancer. I feel like I digest food very quickly instead of slowly. With the D that accompanies many celiacs I think a lot of...
  24. I also am super sensitive. I've gotten sick eating dishes in restaurants that were advertised as gluten free and was assured that they used the proper way to handle so cross contamination should not occur. So I'm really not for chancing it with a restaurant that doesn't know what this is about. It is too iffy for me. I'm having enough problems trying...
  25. I called the restaurant back and asked to speak to a manager. I again explained my situation and inquired if they could make any dishes that were gluten free. They did not understand what gluten is. For me that is a red flag to not eat there. I'm having too many healing issues as is, I can't risk being contaminated. I asked as they could not meet my...
