  1. I thought of that, but it's hot here and the party starts in the afternoon so it would probably not last too well.
  2. We have the second Christmas party of the year tomorrow night, but at the first one we all took our own food. At this one it's been requested that we take a plate of food to share, and also there will be fairy floss and a sausage sizzle. Obviously being vegan, even if they got gluten-free sausages my child wouldn't be able to take them. Just wondering...
  3. The more people claim to be gluten free, but then are inconsistent, the harder it is for people to have a true understanding of how strict a person has to be when they have coeliac disease, or a child with it. Someone who sais they are gluten free, talks to waitstaff about the gluten free options, then order a drink that contains barley malt, will give the...
  4. Sounds like it may be an allergy
  5. It seems to be a common thing at the moment where people are deciding to remove gluten from the diet of the entire family because it's a "healthy" way of eating, when nobody in the family has any issues whatsoever. No sensitivities to gluten, no intolerance, nobody has coeliac disease, they see it as just a healthier lifestyle. Can anyone shed some light...
  6. I bought the Coles brand spiral pasta from their Simply Gluten Free range. We'll stick with San Remo. It completely disintegrated into the pasta sauce. When I looked at the ingredients in the shop I saw it was made from only cornflour so thought that might happen which is why I only bought one box. San Remo might be nearly double the price per kg but...
  7. I need to come up with a menu plan for the next 2 weeks. I'm extremely broke at the moment, had 2 large expenses come at me at once and have very little money left. I have a small pack of rice, a box of spiral pasta and a tin of chickpeas but that's all I have in the way of food. Today is shopping day. Ideas please for 2 vegans.
  8. What the heck does breastfeeding beyond a year have to do with it? What a crazy statement to make. It's a genetic condition. My daughter has it because my mum has it and passed it on and it also happens to be in both sides of the family. The introduction of gluten earlier or later may have done something, possibly, but not breastmilk. I think it's dangerous...
  9. I find with the higher quality dog food, even though it's more expensive, they require far less so in the end it doesn't work out all that much more expensive. Our dogs aren't on gluten-free food, but they are fed downstairs and we don't have a toddler in the house who eats dog food, and they are fed a premium variety that costs about $100 a bag. With the...
  10. None. She tested positive straight up but was 7 before I realised what was wrong. Before that I had people telling me that it was my fault she was sick all the time. My mum was not very nice about it, telling me that even though I thought the house was clean, it can't be cleaned good enough (I hired a professional cleaner for a $400 bond clean a number...
  11. Nacho night tonight. Tomorrow we're having a stir-fry. Sunday we're making spinach pastry puffs with roast veges. Monday we're having pasta.
  12. And yet all the children I know with Autism (I've met a lot, my daughter is Autistic) who have adopted a Gluten-free Casein-free diet, who are not coeliac, have shown amazing improvements in the classroom then when gluten and caseine are re-introduced they begin to have difficulty again due to problems focusing. I don't know what to think since my daughter...
  13. Thanks, we take a fruit and nut mix with us and I'll be making some biscuits as well, that's an easy recipe it's just flour (I use Orgran), butter (I use Nutellex), vanilla essence and sugar.
  14. He's admitted guilt, but due to his age they still have to decide if he truly knew what he was doing or not
  15. She sounds gorgeous. Mine just turned 2 last week. He has a scratching post, but he prefers to use my pyjamas for some reason, only when I'm wearing them of course. My dog's the tripping hazard. He's 15 and can't see too well so he stays near feet so he knows he won't bump into anything or anyone. I've taken to carrying him up and down the stairs lest...
  16. I have a big scratch on my tummy now from him, he's so scratchy. 11.45pm and he wants to play and scratch and climb all over me with his claws out. Lucky I love him hey.
  17. That's gorgeous I don't know how to post pics either.
  18. He's very clever, you know
  19. Dear Cat, I'm not a scratching post. Please stop using me as one. I'm also not a tree that's there for your climbing pleasure. Oh, and my hair is not for you to chew on through the night. That is all.
  20. Bangers - sausages. The vegan variety though. Tonight we're having sweet potato patties with mashed potato and pumpkin, corn on the cob and steamed beans and broccoli. I tried looking for purple peruvian potatoes to make purple mashed potato but had no luck.
  21. It could be from shared equipment if they make both. Or it could be something totally different. I got sick last weekend, came on suddenly then again yesterday, no idea what it was from but everyone here ate the same food and I'm not coeliac, my daughter is, and she didn't get sick so I'm certain it isn't food related.
  22. I'll be making more of the chickpea banana loaf, they were yummy. What do you take when travelling? We'll be in the car for roughly 7 hours all up, just me and my 10 year old, leaving home just after breakfast so she'll have a good breakfast of toast and cereal and take some hash browns to eat in the car. Just after a couple of snack ideas, we'll make sandwiches...
  23. Tonight is roast night. Lentil patties with a variety of roasted veges and grilled broccolini with sesame seeds.
  24. Slow cooked chickpea curry again for tonight, I'll put it on in a couple of hours and let it cook for about 6 hours.
