  1. If you knew of someone who had a dedicated gluten free kitchen and made cupcakes for a fundraiser that were gluten free and vegan as well as nut free (and were decorated really nicely too) would you pay $8.50 for a pack of 6? Unfortunately the ingredients are not donated so I have to take out the cost of making them (from scratch) before looking to make...
  2. It was nice Thanks! I put olive oil and mixed herbs on top of it. We still have some left. Also made a T-Rex cake to practise for my LO's birthay next month. That was nice too A friend came over for coffee and cake yesterday afternoon which was nice. I'll pass this recipe onto my brother too. He likes to cook.
  3. Nah not too late thanks it's only 8.46am here still lol still on coffee.
  4. I thought maybe pikelets but we have a few already. Then I thought maybe biscuits but we have short bread and jam drops in the barrell. Now I'm thinking a slice of some kind but can't think of what to make today. If you had a nice clean house and the weather was great for cooking what would you make? I have a lovely pumpkin soup in the slow cooker...
  5. Can you have soy? We buy sweet williams chocolate. Lindt dark chocolate is also gluten free and vegan
  6. Love2Travel I was the same initially wanting to know everything but now only mention it when it needs to be brought up like when we're visiting people I let them know that my child can't have gluten but the people we visit are now aware of it. We travel to see my mum fairly often and don't even need to take our own food there now and we travel to see a friend...
  7. You can get a mix from Coles called Easy Baker which is gluten free and dairy free and you can get it in white or grain then make it yourself at home. I bought a bread maker but also make bread roll from it in the oven and now getting creative and make things with it like once I put olives through it and once I put stewed apples through it with cinnamon...
  8. They need to be more creative The only things we had to change were the bread cereal and pasta really then the flours of course but I've always made our food at home and we use mostly fresh fruit and veg anyway which are naturally gluten free so we haven't had to change all that much. Most of our meals were gluten free apart from the pasta. Yes it...
  9. Apparently if I feed her 'normal' food (and let her be a child) instead of reading labels all the time her other problems will solve themselves. Her other problems being that she has Autism, a hole in her heart and a faulty kidney when in actual fact she was born that way and with the new diet she has now gained weight and her other problems that we associate...
  10. Thank you for the welcome! Mummyto3 I hope it all goes well for you on Tuesday. I also hope that the new diet is ok and she copes with the change well. Mine had trouble with that part of it but she's ok with it now for the most part. The bread is a bit of an issue for her still after she was used to the regular bread for so long!
  11. Yep it definitely has the YUUUUCCCCCKKKKKKK factor haha.
  12. My mum's the same. I was tested when my daughter was diagnosed but don't have it and my mother has gone gluten free but won't get tested even though I'm pretty sure it's from her because she has problems with bread and pasta. Things have improved for her since going gluten free but she wouldn't even have the blood test.
  13. I was told to take my 7yo off all dairy for 6-12 months but we don't have that anyway. Also even though I'm not Coeliac my whole house bacame gluten free when my child was diagnosed earlier this year. I was also told that it can take up to 12 months for her gut to heal (hence 12m off dairy) and the odd attack can happen in that time even if we're strict...
  14. Thanks! I'm getting used to posting but not seeing it come up haha. Take a bit to get used to hey. I've had a read and it seems like a very informative place
  15. At first yes. There were so many people I had to talk to about it because it was about my child who attends school and after school care as well as vacation care sometimes when she isn't at work with me on school holidays. I had to have a complete overhaul of the pantry and reassess what meals we were having and what to pack in the school lunch box and...
  16. Vegetable pasta! dice up pumpkin, carrot and sweet potato and bake chop up onion, capsicum, mushrooms, snow peas and green beans then stir-fry in a pot pour in 2 tins of coconut cream, some garlic and chives then let simmer when the stir-fried veges are cooked, and other veges are roasted, add them to the cream and leave to simmer boil up some fettucini...
  17. I make wraps with salad now for travel. Travel is hard isn't it! We travel a LOT to visit people so we can be in the car for up to 18 hours (with stops of course) before we get to where we're going. I found wraps and containers of vege sticks and fresh pieces of fruit or rice crackers to be the best. Nuts and seeds are also good for a snack. Vegetable...
  18. We have a number of restaurants that have vegan options with naturally gluten free inredients like their stir-fry that's all vegan and served on rice or with rice noodles. We got to know the ones that did vegan food long before my child was diagnosed and later found out that most of what we had other than the pasta dishes were gluten free anyway so we go...
  19. When I had my 7yo tested I had to sit on the chair with her and have my legs over hers then one arm pinning her arm to her chest to hold her in a way that she wasn't able to throw herself forward and also so she wasn't able to use that arm to attack the nurse with my other arm holding her hand on the arm where the blood was taken from so I could hold her...
  20. I buy from the organic market and grow a lot of our own. We have oranges, carrots, pumpkins, zucchini and tomatoes and other people around us have beans, snow peas, mangoes, strawberries, bananas and paw paw then anything else we need is direct from the farmer to avoid this. I hate going to the supermarket. A little paranoid but when I was a kid I saw...
  21. Oh I have to say I make short bread with the following: Nutellex (half a tub) Icing sugar (1 1/3 cups) A capful of vanilla essence 4 cups of Orgran plain flour Tastes exactly the same as shortbread made using wheat flour and dairy butter
  22. I tell people why I pack my child's lunch if we are out somewhere but I still have people make comments like "Oh the poor child has to miss out on a normal childhood because she's not allowed to have fast foods" like it takes Maccas to have a normal childhood! I tell them she'll miss out on a normal childhood if she's in hospital for a time after each trip...
  23. My little one was recently diagnosed but after talking to others in her school it turns out many of the parents or grandparents are only being diagnosed now as adults in their 30s to 60s.
  24. Hello! I'm new here My 7yo was diagnosed earlier this year so I'm still learning about it all. Thought I'd introduce myself here first.
