  1. I make bread and it smells and tastes fine. I bought bread, and it was in the fridge for a few days. The first time I opened it when we first bought it there was no bad smell to it, but a few days later I opened it again and for some reason it had the smell of bad wine, or fermented grapes. No wine or grapes, so I don't know what caused the smell but it hasn...
  2. We have one called O'Brien's but I haven't found it in town yet even after the search told me there are 3 outlets that sell it. I want to see if it's ok because when my LO is 18 I want her to be able to have a low-alcohol drink. I'm a beer drinker myself and can have a few before I'm over the limit but I never have enough to be over the limit anyway. I...
  3. Mine has never had a sleep-over with a friend. Only with family and they have gone gluten free anyway. We have had kids here for a sleepover and I make meals that are naturally gluten free rather than try to give them things they may not like. I tend to have rice dishes mainly and the ones who have stayed over have been given their own cereal and a small...
  4. My point was simply that if it contained any gluten it would be in the chocolate powder. I will stay out of this now. It's being misinterpreted and I don't feel like explaining the same thing over and over again.
  5. We are not lactose intolerant we are vegan. However my point was that the ones *I* have seen contain gluten in the chocolate powder. I'm sorry if that offended anyone :/
  6. I'm in Australia and we have no problems with a gluten free diet. I love our labelling laws and the way we have options when eating out. We are vegan too and have no problems at all with vegan and gluten free and that's in rural Australia
  7. Creamy fettucini Sweet potato Pumpkin Carrot (all roasted) Silverbeet Capsicum Onion Mushroom Beans Snow peas (all stir fried) In a pot: Coconut cream Garlic Fresh chives In another pot: Fettucini Completely vegan San Remo does a gluten free and vegan fettucini
  8. Most of the ones I've seen contain gluten in the chocolate powder but we can't have them because of the milk anyway.
  9. It's not always that an actual physical reaction will occur either. But that doesn't mean that your body isn't having damage done to it even if an immediate physical reaction doesn't occur.
  10. My Miss 8 is very sensitive but my whole family is now gluten free for her. My little bro was anyway because his Autism is better on the diet but now my older brother and his family are and my mum went gluten free with us. Much of what we eat is made from things grown in my garden or the garden of my brother or my mum.
  11. tonight we have people over so the menu will be: Pumpkin and lentil soup 1 whole pumpkin 1 tin of lentils Fresh chives salt/pepper to taste It's in the slow cooker now but I'll put the stick blender through it before we serve. Pasta Orgran brand spiral pasta 2 cans coconut cream Pumpkin garlic sweet potato onion capsicum silverbeet carrot...
  12. I won't watch sitcoms anymore. The only shows I like to watch are those crime shows or British sitcoms but I rarely watch any of them. Those current affair type show p*ss me off too because I'm a sole parent in a low income part of town which means I basically live off society (I work full time but none of that seems to matter to these people - apparently...
  13. Nah we had the blood test but nothing else because her blood test showed up positive for the gene and positive for the coeliac antibodies and my blood test showed up positive for the gene but negative for antibodies then on a gluten free diet everything changed and I wasn't willing to put her under anaesthetic for anything like that when there are ways around...
  14. My nephew was a screamer for the first 3 months of his life. His parents are vegan so they weren't having any dairy or eggs at all anyway then I said to try a gluten free diet since my LO is coeliac and it's genetic and it's from my side not her father's side. My brother's wife cut out gluten from her diet and now he poos easily and sleeps better and is...
  15. Although still relevant as a whole, this thread is from 2005 and that person has either become gluten free or not by now so it's not relevent to that particular person anymore. To continue the general discussion however, I am on a gluten free diet because my daughter is a senitive coeliac which means we cannot have gluten in the home or in the car at all...
  16. Yeah exactly.
  17. The office can't help much. They would have people who run the food stalls that they pay to come out. Those people will provide what they provide and the stadium won't be able to sway them.
  18. I'm not coeliac but my 8yo is. We have learnt a lot about it so she knows it's for life even if the symptoms aren't able to be seen.
  19. I don't know about over there but here the hospital wouldn't allow for gluten free :/
  20. A lot will say contains gluten if it has wheat glucose in it because they don't want to take the chance of cross contamination. That's what they told me anyway!
  21. We take our own to AFL or wherever. That way if we find something that's gluten free it's a bonus but otherwise we have our own food.
  22. I've only replaced the toaster and wooden spoons. Haven't had a problem with my sensitive child.
  23. We are lucky indeed. I'd never move away from Oz.
  24. The problem is that there is often flour on the outside of the playdough that rubs off onto hands as they play with it. I make our playdough with gluten free flour to avoid this.
  25. Our first 2 months were like that. We are a completely gluten free house now because it was too hard to have gluten-free food for Miss 8 and gluten food for myself without making her sick. It's all trial and error really and it is a huge learning curve for everyone involved. The more you learn the more you realise you have so much more to learn still!
