  1. Wow that is completely scary. I have been getting sick after chewing gum and to the point of wondering if some of my gum contained MSG because i was sensitive to that. I will have to look into this. I wish we were all the types that didnt react to anything at all. It seems like just when i start to figure one thing out another problem shows up.
  2. What a jerk, i am so sorry that you had to deal with that. Its not that hard to avoid sandwich shops, this guy has some mental problem.
  3. Hi, This was taken directly from their website. Q. Do VIACTIV® Calcium Soft Chews contain gluten? A. VIACTIV® Calcium Soft Chews do not contain gluten. I eat them all the time and i do not have a problem with them.
  4. Thats so strange that you posted this because i was thinking the exact same thing. I just bought some Trident gum and chewed it two days in a row and got sick both days. I didnt even think it was the gum, i just thought that i had been accidentally glutened when i ate out. It was one of those new gums with Xylitol? Anyone hear of any reactions to that...
  5. Wow this topic is really fascinating. I will have to keep an eye out for this. I know that my hair started growing again and got silkier when i went gluten-free. Maybe your hair and skin show a lot about your health just like the other topic about nails.
  6. I have those same types of dreams because the rest of my house isnt gluten-free and i am always worried that i will eat their leftovers without even thinking about it. So that fear translates into my dreams. I guess it means that this is really burned into our brains.
  7. A couple of days ago I was watching the Food Network, Paula Deen to be exact and she had a recipe for peanut butter cookies without flour. Made them and they are fantastic. They are also sugar-free, made with Splenda. Magical Peanut Butter Cookies 1 cup peanut butter, creamy or crunchy 1 1/3 cups baking sugar replacement (recommended: Splenda) ...
  8. I agree, i eat at salad bars a lot without any problems. I am selective about my salad bar though. I steer clear from small salad bars and the ones in the markets because there is nobody really in charge of them. I eat at Souplantation a lot and they usually have 2-3 people behind the salad bar who is watching people and making sure they do not mix up spoons...
  9. Thanks for the help. I had a great time at the game but ended up eating safe stuff like peanuts and popcorn. Maybe next time i go, i will be a little more adventurous.
  10. Its only been 3 months for me and i really cannot stop talking about it also, especially whenever food comes up. And the people around me at work are so supportive that even when i am not talking about, they are talking about it, asking if i can eat things in meetings...things like that. I say keep talking about it.
  11. Hi everyone, I am going to Dodger Stadium tonight and would love to eat some ice cream. I heard they have a Dippin Dots and was wondering if anyone knew whether they were gluten-free. I am having no luck looking on my own. Thanks for the help!
  12. i get four larges one out of the Chebe when i add the extra baking powder. It is nice to eat a burger not wrapped in lettuce.
  13. I use Chebe bread now for hamburger buns. The recipe is online at their website, they come out very good.
  14. I had no idea what gluten was prior to this. I probably saw it all the time on things or on the internet and it never crossed my mind to ask what it was.
  15. In the calendar section of the LA Times today there was an article by Juliette Lewis regarding what would be her perfect weekend. She stated that she would start off with a breakfast including Gluten-Free waffles. Nothing else in the article mentioned gluten-free but she might have celiac.
  16. I thought of myself as sick for the first couple of weeks but then i started feeling better. My mother thinks that i am sick. I acidentally got glutened two weeks ago and was getting frustrated that it was taking so long to get over it and she said "well you are sick, you have a disease, it takes time." I know she means well but it seemed so handicapping...
  17. In relation to what you said about family history, nobody in my family has been confirmed about having this although some refuse to be tested. My background is Russian Jew on my mothers side where all the likely Celiac family members seem to be lurking. Good luck with everything. I think i read a study that gluten-free is actually helpful for fibromyalgia...

    ARCHIVED Grrrr....

At my work there are always these meetings with really incredible cookies. I used to eat them constantly before i was diagnosed. Anyway, two nights ago i had a nightmare that i walked into a meeting and without even thinking about it grabbed a cookie and started chowing down on it. And in my dream i had no immediate side effects so i ate all the cookies...

    ARCHIVED Protien Bars

i think that some of the Think Thin ones are also dairy free but i am not 100% positive. I could not find any of the gluten-free Balance Bars, is there a list anywhere?
  21. I actually got sick there this weekend. I ordered the lettuce wraps which i usually have no problem with and the waiter must not have been paying attention to me. He brought me the lettuce wraps and a side of sauce. An hour later when i was incredibly ill i realized that he must have brought me regular lettuce wraps and a side of the gluten free sauce. What...
  22. I cannot seem to find Philly Swirl in Southern California, not even at Costco. Anyone able to find it around here?
  23. I would also add Pamela's cookies and Chebe bread.
  24. Totally agree with Jenvan, "Wheat Free, Worry Free" was fantastic. I bought my copy online at Walmart.com and it was really cheap compared to the bookstores.
  25. I work in Burbank and there is a Trader Joe's and Whole Foods close by if you want to buy some snacks. There is a PF Chang's near the mall as well as plenty of fast food joints including McDonald's of course. There is an Elephant Bar and a BJ's whose gluten free suggestions you can find online. I have never been there, but in Glendale there is supposedly...
