Thank You so much for your replies! I am so happy to meet you! Cougie, your story is so similar to m ine, I am so sorry you have had to suffer so much! It is terrifying when your body doesn't do what you tell it, and does things you didn't. I wish you all the luck in the world! -

ARCHIVED What I Miss Most.
PainfulSpaghetti replied to CRashster's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I miss the ease of making a sandwich. The thrill of fresh baked bread. An ice cold beer. Cinnamon buns ice cream. Ritz crackers. Graham crackers with peanut butter and bananas. Pie. cake. Cupcakes. But most of all, I miss pasta. -
I wanted to finally officially introduce myself, as I have been posting and have been neglecting to do so. I'm Kelly, I'm 37 and live in VA. I just this year finally realized it was the Gluten trying to do me in after being so sick I thought I would die. Having stroke like episodes and visting doctor after doctor. Being told by my Insurance company that...

ARCHIVED The Gluten Challenge
PainfulSpaghetti replied to peeptoad's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome Peeptoad! Once your body begins to heal from the damage the gluten causes, it can be very hard on your system to introduce gluten back into it. Be very careful with your challenge, and try a small portion. Such as 1 cookie, or cracker. NOT a whole sandwich as I did. That was a bad idea for me! -

ARCHIVED Just Need Some Support, Nobody Seems To Understand
PainfulSpaghetti replied to livelifelarge24's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think all of us have slid down the slippery slope of wondering "Do I even have Celiac or a gluten allergy?" And we then think, "Oh I will just have one sandwich." Then yet again, we learn we are indeed intolerant of gluten, flour and wheat products, It's not in our heads, we are sick as dogs when we eat it. We can't have it. So, we run out and try to find... -
ARCHIVED Passing Mucus With Gas
PainfulSpaghetti replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am SO familiar with the mucus, and bleeding, too. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, and then magically, the ulcerative colitis symptoms improved without Gluten in my diet, but I am still having trouble with candida overload, and that causes all sorts of nasty problems as well. I always say, Ok Today NO dairy, and then slip up with my coffee. So... -
I also went through a battery of tests for MS, and when I stopped eating gluten the stroke like symptoms associated with what they thought was surely MS did indeed go away. Those were terrifying! I went to doctors, a Neuro, a Rheumatologist, and physical therapy. I have been told I have severe fibromyalgia, tested repeatedly, and nothing I do, diet or otherwise...

ARCHIVED Newbie And Overwhelmed
PainfulSpaghetti replied to watata's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It can be frustraing, and difficult, BUT, your body will let you know what is best for YOU! All of us are different, unique, and have our own ways to cope, and things that make us feel better. A dietician will tell you common sense, which is to eat things that are natural and pure, contain no gluten, and have no chance of cross contamination. Veggies, rice... -
ARCHIVED What Are Your Symptoms When You Get Glutened?
PainfulSpaghetti replied to livelifelarge24's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
For me, I suffer from depression, cramping, gas, bloating, bad taste in my mouth, bleeding, headaches, brain fog, muscle weakness, joint pain, limb tingles, dizziness, some D, some C it varies, and alot of mucus in the stools. Even the teeniest bit will cause problems, and now my mouth will swell, and burn, and I get a rash. I do my very best to be a food... -
It sure does! It slowly but surely will get better. It takes awhile for our poor abused bodies to heal themselves, but it WILL get better!

ARCHIVED Celiac And Teeth/mouth Problems
PainfulSpaghetti replied to bhschiedel's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have a strange "rash" on the inside of my cheeks that 3 doctors have looked and and just scratch their heads at, I'm postive it is some strain of thrush, due to the gluten intolerance, but thrush treatment does nothing for it, and it won't go away. I get sores in my mouth, and have one very small one on the inside of my lip that has been there for months... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free & On A Budget
PainfulSpaghetti replied to GFFAB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
You can find rice cookers on the cheap! Huge bags of rice can be very cost effective, and you can make a meal with rice, and a few vegetables, small portions of fish or other lean proteins, etc. Many are just scared of the thought of cooking gluten free, but it doesn't have to be expensive. Vegetables, meats and rice are all gluten free, and much better for... -
ARCHIVED Sushi Rice... Again
PainfulSpaghetti replied to LivingGF's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Not only does the soy sauce have gluten / wheat, but the artificial crab meat does as well. I'm allergic to crabs so always thought that was ok. it's not, sadly. So unfair, as Sushi is my favorite food! I also wanted to check and see if the seaweed wrappers have it as a binder, but keep forgetting to. -
ARCHIVED Stress !@#$ And Celiac Disease
PainfulSpaghetti replied to Greg Rappaport's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am predisposed as my Grandma had it, however I also have Ulcerative Colitis, severe fibrolmyalgia, arthritis and bursitis. Stress should be my middle name. It is ALL worse when my stress levels climb, but the viscious circle is that the flare ups, or gluten attacks cause stress! A sense of humor is a must for me! I have to keep positive, and find calm... -
ARCHIVED Just A Little Gluten?
PainfulSpaghetti replied to Nurse Belly Blues's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am extremely sensitive now after taking it all completely away, and my body is trying to heal, which is doesn't do well as I have multiple Auto Immune diseases, if I even have a tiny bit I sure do know it! A TINY bit. Which is why I get so frustrated at products that list "less than 20ppm" Even the tiniest bit makes me sick, and my mouth swells up, and... -
Anybody Experience Puffy Swollen Face?
PainfulSpaghetti replied to emryee's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
"Then later at night when I was about to go to bed I took a vitamin." have you checked to make sure your vitamins are gluten free? Many times they sneak gluten in there as a binder, it's also in make up, listicks, face powder, and so many other sneaky places. My face puffs up too, as do my legs, feet, and stomach. I also get a rash on my face, neck, chest... -
