  1. Mine are usually mild compared to others. It starts with a headache, which turns into a migraine and then I get fatigued and brain fog along with being bloated/swollen. I don't typically have any gastro issues.
  2. Yes, she was diagnosed via colonoscopy but *she* insists she doesn't have Crohn's. I'm SO glad I'm not the only frustrated person here! I have a girl I work with that has been diagnosed with Lupus and has terrible health issues. She's so young, I'd say maybe 30ish. She absolutely, flat out REFUSES to get tested for Celiac. REFUSES and actually gets...
  3. My aunt was gracious and made me my own bowl of gluten free stuffing for Thanksgiving dinner which was great but I've been on her for a month now bugging her to get tested and she just REFUSES! My mom's doctor won't test her because she "doesn't have any of the symptoms"......but my aunt? She is CLASSIC celiac. She went so far at dinner to tell me that...
  4. The last time I had trouble with mine was several years ago (knock on wood) and it was so bad that all I could do was literally lay on the couch. If/when I tried to get up, I fell down (seriously). I ended up going for acupuncture and it's the only thing that worked! Flexeril also helped if you want to go the medication route, but acupuncture solved...

    ARCHIVED Fast Food

I've been avoiding them altogether but I've heard Wendy's chili is safe, as are their baked potatoes.
  6. It is possible, but not probable. My GI let my husband stay in the room while he did the endoscopy. He almost 100% GUARANTEED my husband that there was NO WAY I had Celiac. He said my villi were 100% normal and he saw no damage at all. I think even HE was a little embarrassed when my biopsies came back positive! Keep us posted!
  7. I recently spoke with my friend who is a travel agent that specializes in cruises. I asked if my cruising days were over and she ASSURED me that they are NOT. Make SURE you notify RC in writing of your Celiac BEFORE you go. The MOMENT you get on board, go see the head waiter and make sure they are clear that you cannot have any gluten. From what I've...
  8. I SO know how you feel....as I sit here at my desk eating my apple while everyone else is in the breakroom gorging themselves on cookies, donuts, pastries, bagels, muffins....<sigh>. When they commented on my willpower I told them I have none, but I have no choice. I agree with the post saying to tell them you just have food allergies and leave it...
  9. My mom had a doctor's appointment yesterday and she asked about being tested for Celiac since I have a positive diagnosis now. The doctor ran down the list of symptoms and she said no, she didn't have any of those that he mentioned and he told her he WOULD NOT test her for it then! I honestly think it came from my dad's side of the family but my mom's...
  10. Oh no, I most DEFINITELY had the flu! It was not pretty. It was going around our office and I was one of the lucky recipients.
  11. I'm right there with you! I've been gluten-free for 4 weeks now and I don't feel any better either!!! It seemed like as soon as I went gluten-free everything went downhill. I came down with the flu and was sick for a week and a half, then felt like I had mono again for another week (didn't go get checked this time), then had the worst period ever. My...
  12. I didn't have any of the GI symptoms like most people do. Well, I was extremely bloated - which was what made me seek out a self diagnosis, but I never really had the diarrhea or other issues. I've always had migraines, eczema and have been complaining to the doctor for TWENTY YEARS that I am ALWAYS exhausted no matter how much sleep I get! It was just...
  13. I've only been gluten free for two weeks now. Well, technically a week if I include my accidental glutening at a restaurant last week. But I've noticed my eczema is back on my fingers and it's SO annoying and painful! I haven't had an eczema outbreak in a reallllly long time and I'm kind of surprised it's back since going gluten-free. Anyone have any...
  14. I don't have anything to say that will make you feel better, but enjoy your favorite foods while you can. When I went back on before my endoscopy I felt like I was on a bender! I ate EVERYTHING I could that I wasn't supposed to before. Beer (that KILLED me), pizza, bread, doughnuts, etc. The only thing that REALLY bothered me was the beer. Everything...
  15. My mom does a "girls night out" once a month with a group of her friends. I have been invited this month and they are going to a $25 all you can eat lobster & prime rib buffet. It sounds VERY tempting...I love lobster and I love prime rib, but I am VERY hesitant to go. I know I'll probably have to avoid the prime rib, since the 'au jus' probably has...
  16. Well now I'm kind of confused. My blood test showed a low positive. The biopsy came back positive for Celiac. The blood test they want to send me for is this: PROMETHEUS
  17. All my life I seem to have the exact opposite reaction to medications. If I take Nyquil, it's like speed and I'm up all night, same with Benadryl - most people take these and are down for the count. I also seem to have a very high tolerance to pain meds. Basically nothing works. The last time I went to the ER I had an abscessed tooth. They ended up prescribing...
  18. Well, I just got off the phone with the gastro's secretary. Guess what? My biopsy results are back and I DOOOOOO have celiac! My husband even ARGUED with me after I got off the phone saying the doctor specifically told him I did NOT have celiac while he was doing the endoscopy. So what? The biopsy LIED? OY VAY! She said he wants me to go gluten free...
  19. My blood tests were a "low positive". In other words the cut off to be positive for Celiac was like an 8 and I tested a 7. The gastro says I didn't test an 8, so I don't have it. I don't know how many biopsies he did. I'm getting ready to call and see what the results were and will ask when I speak with them.
  20. I have to call later today for my biopsy results, but based on his visual expertise during the endoscopy he told my husband I do NOT have celiac and he guarantees I have GERD. He says he sees it all the time and will be prescribing me omeprazole to take every day. I don't have any SYMPTOMS of GERD though! Sure, once in a while I might be heartburn, but...
  21. OMG, you sound JUST like me! I tested low positive on the blood test and went gluten free for two weeks, then back on gluten for a week before my endoscopy. The doctor let my husband stay in the room when he did the test and showed my husband my villi and said they were completely normal and I do not have celiac (still waiting for the lab results of the...
  22. I'm trying! I SO want to have my favorite beer, but I just can't seem to do it. Maybe this weekend. What were the results of your biopsy? I'm really curious to know what they are going to see/find come Monday. I too tested low positive on the blood work.
  23. I tested low positive on the blood test and I am going for an endoscopy on Monday to confirm. So yes, I believe I'm a diagnosed celiac.
  24. Huh. Funny you mention this. I had never put it together, but now that I think about it I think it may have been the trigger for me too. I've always had celiac symptoms, right back to the 7th grade, but about 2-3 years ago I was so exhausted I was falling asleep at red lights. I had all kinds of tests run and the doctor said I had "recurring mono" (hubby...
  25. Well, I've been eating a little bit of gluten this week since the endoscopy is scheduled for Monday and, after being gluten free for two weeks, I notice the following: 1. My first ingestion of gluten (fried calamari) gave me a migraine and I've had a low grade headache all week. 2. I haven't had any stomach 'issues' other than my stomach seems to make...
