  1. Hi there. I've been thinking of getting tested for other intolerances/allergies, too. May I ask how long you've been gluten free? I've been gluten free and dairy free for 2 months now and am still having bouts of sickness... Also, people who have celiac are usually lactose intolerant also (which is found in all dairy products) until the intestines have...
  2. I know this topic is old, but can anyone tell me what kind of doctor I would need to see to check and see if I'm hypoglycemic?? Thanks for any input.
  3. I buy Canyon Bakehouse bread (cinnamon raisin and San Juan 7-grain). They are both really good. Natural food stores typically have gluten free things labeled and marked. I've ordered gluten free things online, too.
  4. Hi there, I remember reading some post and it seemed like you had posted something about Nivea (I recognized the picture from on here!). Is Nivea lip care gluten free, do you know? I greatly appreciate all your helpful responses you contribute to this site!
  5. Thanks for your responses. I don't feel "desperate" enough to resort to an elimination diet nor do I want to right now. My doctor recommended I go see a nutritionist/dietician. I've been gluten free for nearly 6 weeks. Still having some of the same digestive issues. I don't really think a nutritionist can do anything to help me out. I've been eat strictly...
  6. Thank you so much for your responses. I don't know if I have the willpower yet to eliminate everything from my diet. I greatly commend ya'll who have done the elimination diet...You are strong people! Tomorrow I go for a check-up. We'll see from there....I may just have to do more than just gluten/lactose free diet. Thank you again!!
  7. I'm thinking I may have to resort to an elimination diet...What did you eliminate and did it speed up the healing process?
  8. I was diagnosed just a little bit before you (8/27). Like you, I started to feel better the first week it seemed. Then, all my symptoms seemed to go back as if I wasn't gluten free. It is so frustrating. They say it takes time....just stick with it. Are you on a lactose free diet, too? If not, you might want to check that out, since newly diagnosed celiacs...
  9. Hi, I'm kind of in the same situation and I was just wondering if you're eating meat and vegetables even for breakfast? What else are you eating in the elimination diet? How long have you been on the elimination diet and are you feeling much better? I might just have to do that...I've been gluten-free for a month and am not feeling much better. Also,...
  10. No, I don't share any foods with them. I have my own. I didn't realize a pasta strainer was a big issue. Might end up replacing that, too. Thanks for all your advice!
  11. I usually eat: toast (gluten-free bread) almond milk, juice, sweet tea for drinks chicken and rice vegetables fruit smoothies barbeque chicken (gluten-free) gluten-free pizza crust/sauce/vegetables/pepperoni spaghetti (gluten-free) peanut butter potatoes salads taco salad (i use gluten-free chili powder, salt/pepper) That's what I usually...
  12. I've been on a gluten free diet for a month now. I still seem to be having the same digestive issues...I always feel hungry, and fatigue....When I eat, I feel nauseous a lot of the time. From your experience, do I just need to be patient or could there be something else going on besides celiac?? P.S. - When I did my endoscopy, the doctor didn't see any...
  13. Yes, I always feel hungry! The problem for me is finding foods that I want to eat, when I want to eat it! Gluten free snacks don't really appeal to me.
  14. Corn free too? Is there a way doctors can check to "corn intolerance"?
  15. I mean...it seems fatigue is a common occurrence among people with celiac. I seem to always feel tired and not have a lot of energy (I was just diagnosed a month ago). But then again, I have things I need to get done!! Does it help in the healing process? Or do I just ignore my need for sleep altogether? Hope that makes more sense!
  16. Amen to that!! I've been clinging to Jesus through it all, too. He can give us hope to face tomorrow! Psalm 139. Hang in there!
  17. yeah, I don't like when people are apologetic. It's just the way it is - I can't eat gluten and they can. Thankfully, I haven't run into anyone that is "overly apologetic" that you described, but I would probably yell the same thing!! If the gluten free diet works for you, I wouldn't see a need to start eating gluten again just to be tested! That just sounds...
  18. Glad to hear you're feeling better already! I just made Bob's Red Mill G.F. Cornbread Mix tonight and it was delicious!!! You won't be able to tell a difference.
  19. It's definitely better to be safe than sorry! People just don't understand how gluten affects us. It's annoying. Btw, I briefly mentioned about using my own g.f. towel for drying and one replied, "We'll let you." Well, gee thanks...I don't need your permission. (I'm probably making it bigger than it is, but still!) Concerning the kitchen, I feel so bossy...
  20. Tonight my friends invited me to go somewhere and I told them "no." My celiac symptoms are flaring up and I simply do not feel like being around lots of people. Of course, they don't understand this and say that I'm "making excuses." This has happened more than once. Then, I try to justify it by saying I need to study or do something else. They still insist...
  21. I've been wondering about this same topic, too. Dish soap cleans things, so I personally don't see the reason behind buying all new dishes and appliances, if they are cleaned thoroughly...? If I am wrong, someone please correct me. I share a kitchen with others who all eat gluten and we use the same silverware, dishes, etc. I use my own toaster for my gluten...

  23. I bought 2 books that have really helped me. One is a gluten free grocery guide and the other is a gluten free restaurant guide. You might find it cheaper on Amazon if you're interested. Here's the link Open Original Shared Link .
  24. Thanks, I'll have to check that out. Chocolate is one of my favorite foods, so I can't wait to find it!
