ARCHIVED Doc Wont Say Celiac For Sure...pretty Sure I Am..
alicewa replied to TJ060306's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for clarifying. I meant it in that it may help convince the doctor(s) to make a diagnosis. -
ARCHIVED Frightened From Upcoming Appointment
alicewa replied to dani nero's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Have you tried emailing Enterolab www.enterolab.com and doing their tests? I recently ordered Panel E Open Original Shared Link to be sent to New Zealand. They do process international orders but you'd have to locate a courier service that could return the stool samples back within 72 hours. The courier costs can get very expensive. -
ARCHIVED Doc Wont Say Celiac For Sure...pretty Sure I Am..
alicewa replied to TJ060306's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Was the DGP blood test done? This is pretty specific and sensitive. Perhaps you need to find out if you have a celiac gene?? You can do this after being gluten-free. -
Hi, I saw that you visited my profile and thought I'd return the favor.
I hope that you are making progress with your health.

Has anyone here tried Venus Fly Trap and Dr Wise's Cat's Claw? Lyme disease is apparently ridiculously common and can manifest itself as MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. May be present in up to 1 in 15 people. Jason just uploaded a factual video on this (I think it was recently) which I thought you'd like to see:

ARCHIVED Any Lab That Offers Full Hla-Dq Gene Testing?
alicewa replied to alicewa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was hoping to find a test where they list the two alleles that you DO possess (even if they aren't celiac alleles) (e.g. HLA-DQs2,4,5,6,7,8,9) Dr Peter Osborne said there are only two labs in the whole country that evaluate WHAT HLA-DQ genes you have rather than whether you possess the celiac gene. Let's just assume I'm willing to pay anything for... -
ARCHIVED Deamidated Gliadin Test And Ttg
alicewa replied to Mom2Will's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Is the endoscopy even necessary if the DGP blood test is performed? I thought it was more specific for celiac disease than the endoscopy (i.e. positive biopsies can mean something else, can't they?). Didn't I hear somewhere that it may end up replacing the biopsy? -
ARCHIVED How To Read A Lyme Disease Panel

Lyme disease is apparently ridiculously common and can manifest itself as MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. May be present in up to 1 in 15 people. Jason just uploaded a factual video on this (I think it was recently) which I thought you'd like to see: I think Dr Wise made a special formula for Lyme called Cat's Claw. -
ARCHIVED Any Lab That Offers Full Hla-Dq Gene Testing?
alicewa replied to alicewa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I believe the labs you mentioned only check for celiac genes. I wondered if there were any that actually assessed which of the HLA-DQ genes you have rather than whether you have HLA-DQ2/DQ8. Enterolab is one but the only do the beta subunit. I need to find one that also does the alpha subunit. -
ARCHIVED Any Lab That Offers Full Hla-Dq Gene Testing?
alicewa posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I wanted to be genetically tested for which HLA-DQ alleles that I possess. Most labs only tell you whether you have the celiac alleles. Enterolab tells us what HLA-DQB1 are present but not the A1 subunits. Is there any lab that does a full analysis of both the HLA-DQA1 and B1 subunits? -
ARCHIVED Determined To Try Gluten Relief
alicewa replied to alicewa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm sorry I wasn't trying to get everyone worked up. I asked my MD what his thoughts were and he said sure, but be absolutely sure that I watch my symptoms closely and if I'm having none then I should redo the celiac panel periodically. Of course, he figured the chances of something working were slim. I just wasn't sure if you'd have any additional... -
ARCHIVED Just Ate Gluten...
alicewa replied to Chalsh's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I wouldn't try and make myself do anything. It's probably best to just let it run its course. I tried a salt-water flush after I ate a cupcake a few weeks ago and that seemed to alleviate most of the symptoms. Typically I had loose stools for about 12 hours after drinking the salty water. -
ARCHIVED Determined To Try Gluten Relief
alicewa replied to alicewa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've ordered Gluten Relief! After hearing from 2 others who tried and said they did really well with it I couldn't resist. I took the first 6 today. I also got another thyroid product with it for Vitamin B12 absorption, so I'll let you know of my results. If I were to run tests afterward which would you recommend? -
Some people say gluten is quite unnatural and may well be worse than tobacco and alcohol in terms of the illnesses it causes. Rodney Ford once told me this. Would you agree with this? Seems a bit disturbing that it's so widely used then, doesn't it?? What about the wheat that was around 100-200 years ago? Was it any different?

I wouldn't be so reluctant to introduce gluten into their diets if it were just celiac, except I've heard from various studies that mice fed wheat-based diets had the highest rates of other autoimmune diseases, notably IDDM and others. I used to think that animal proteins were the cause of autoimmune disease, but all the new stuff out there seems to be pointing...

If you have celiac disease, would you keep your children gluten free for life? (i.e. from birth to death) I think I would. Especially since gluten sensitivity seems to correlate with autism, schizophrenia, IDDM, heart disease, cancer, autoimmune thyroid disease, arthritis and more... Eventually I think I'd let them choose once they were out of home...

ARCHIVED Peptide Based Immunotherapy
alicewa replied to alicewa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I did the salt water flush and it worked wonders. I'm started the probiotic and the effects of the other day seem to be a thing of the past. I think I'll accept it. -
ARCHIVED Peptide Based Immunotherapy
alicewa replied to alicewa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Maybe I should've cut it out more gradually. I know one mother who did this with her son and he hasn't been tempted by it at all. Though my doctor said I needed to change straight away. Maybe the main way of thinking isn't true for some. -
ARCHIVED Peptide Based Immunotherapy
alicewa replied to alicewa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No they haven't started the next phase yet. Probably sometime in 2-4 months they said. I'd love to enrol!! You're probably not all that interested in what happened with the cupcake, as I'm sure there are others who've done the same thing. I went, and got one yesterday morning and the chocolate mocha honeycomb flavour tasted so good!! The texture... -

ARCHIVED Peptide Based Immunotherapy
alicewa replied to alicewa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just finished watching a lecture on the celiac vaccine by WEHI: Open Original Shared Link Sounds like it will have to be maintained, but as long as you get the vaccine monthly all should be good. Why would it have to be periodic though? -
ARCHIVED Peptide Based Immunotherapy
alicewa replied to alicewa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
How will the vaccine work then? Isn't it based on exactly the same principle, only in the blood? In any case I feel like I need to go and grab a cup cake at the local cup-cakery near my hotel while I'm away. Just one last time, and I'll let you know how it goes. I've been feeling better in the last two weeks, so hopefully I won't get that sick. Healing... -
Hi, I was looking up the function of some of the future vaccines and drugs for celiac and it seems like they work by using key gluten peptides (ones in barley, rye and wheat) and injecting them at increasing concentrations each week over a timeframe. The idea is to establish better tolerance to gluten so we can have our cake and eat it too! Does this...

ARCHIVED Will Not Eating At All For A Few Days Help My Gut To Heal?
alicewa posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Will not eating at all for a few days help my gut to heal? I'm having constant discomfort around my stomach, liver and GI tract and it is really worrying me. Maybe having food running along the lining of my intestines all the time is preventing things from healing. Let me know if this is a good or bad idea.
