  1. Thanks all for the continued information. Very helpful. My T4 was 1.3 (ref 0.9-1.8) TSH was 1.18 (ref 0.35-5.50) I'll definitely ask about T3 next month. Also noticed that my Ferritin, while "normal" seems to be at the low end...40 (ref 10-291). Wondering if a low normal ferritin is contributing to the fatigue.
  2. The smart balance has a very small amount of whey (pretty far down the ingredient list), but I've used that other times this week w/out issue. I don't seem to have a problem w/ soy either...use soy milk creamer daily, eat edamame, had tofu the other night...no issues.
  3. Yup, old waffle iron. W/out a celiac diagnosis I wasn't ready to ditch old kitchenware just yet...wanted to give the elim diet a try first to see if gluten was really my issue. As captaincrab said, I think I've got my answer. Still not sure what the deal would've been on last night's dinner. The pork was cooked on stainless steel, sweet potato was microwaved...
  4. Well, now that you ask I'm guessing there's a high chance of CC as the rest of the household isn't gluten-free (plastic mixing bowl, plastic measuring cups, etc). I guess I wasn't thinking that I could be that sensitive to CC, especially if I'm not celiac. But that's gotta be it. Bah humbug.
  5. I've only been gluten free for a week. My usual symptoms (bloating, distention, heartburn, headache, haziness, exhaustion) have been improving. My celiac tests have thus far been negative but I'm trialing gluten-free to see if I see improvements. This morning DH made me gluten-free waffles that I topped with smart balance and maple syrup. W/in 10-15 mins...
  6. Thank you. Would the symptoms present similarly to hypothyroid?
  7. This is helpful info. Thanks. I'm pretty sure the doc didn't test T3.
  8. T4 and TSH and antibody were run 10/2010 and were normal and T4 and TSH were run again this time and were normal and at the same level as a year ago. I have been curious about hormone levels. This may be my next testing request.
  9. I've gotten most of my results back and everything is in the normal range. Still waiting on the AGA and GDP. My CBC, chem 7, metabolic panel, thyroid, ferritin, and vit B and D were all normal and comparable to the values I got 12mo ago. In fact my D was up to 56 (was 32 a yr ago). I was hoping that hct, ferritin or vitamins would come back on the low end...
  10. A bit o/t but would you then recommend that people eliminate gluten containing personal care items automatically or elim food based gluten first and only elim the personal care products if symptoms continue? I am likely NCGS and just starting on this journey so I'm curious on how to best approach this. For example I noticed my new shampoo (just started using...
  11. I hope to get the results this week and I always request that they fax me a copy so I can review them myself. I am going gluten-free again (started this weekend) but my my isn't until after she does the celiac blood panel next month. I think what bothers me most is the fatigue. Friday night I was asleep on the couch by 8pm and woke up at 6am feeling...
  12. I've posted a few times about my ongoing symptoms for the past 12 mos: heartburn, bloating after meals, canker sores, headaches, fatigue, fuzzy/hungover feeling, etc. My ttg IGA was neg (total IGA normal). I'm now waiting for results on my GDP and a few other things. Well I was talking to my mom today and we were updating each other on our health issues and...
  13. I have been seeing my primary care doc for about 4-5mo now for symptoms of bloating and distention (that gets worse as the day goes on and resolves overnight), frequent headaches, monthly canker sores, fatigue, leg cramps (always my thighs especially at the hip joint), and daily heartburn. I'm also now noticing a daily sniffly nose (not congested and not...
  14. I was gluten-free for a few weeks and felt great but have reintro'd gluten so pursue further blood tests. I'm finding now that my bloating and nausea come and go much more quickly than they did before. Tonight for example I had kielbasa on a hot dog roll with sauerkraut and corn for dinner and by the time I finished I was bloated, distended, and nauseated...
  15. Anyone know the recommended minimum amount of gluten that has to be consumed in order for more accurate blood testing? I have a follow up appointment with my GP in 2wks and I want to request further testing (she only did ttg IGA and total IGA which were neg). I was gluten reduced for about a month, by that I mean I was gluten free most days but did have some...
  16. Sorry to hear that. The dizzy feeling is so hard to explain. It's almost like a noise or activity that I just want to turn off. The only good part thus far is that it seems to only last about an hour after eating gluten and then quiets back down.
  17. I've continued my gluten reintro and notice each time the dizzy feeling. I've come to realize it feels similar to the buzz I get when drinking alcohol. Not drunk, still thinking clearly, but almost hyperactive like my brain is racing.
  18. If you've followed any of my other posts, I'm ttg iga neg and trialing an elim diet. I've been gluten-free for a few weeks (or at least trying my very best). I have a follow up with my GP in 2wks and want further testing (gliadin on your recommendations) so I'm reintro'ing gluten. For a snack today I had a few pieces of ak-mak sesame cracker and w/in a about...

ARCHIVED What Type Of Doc To See?

Just the total iga and ttg iga were run. No scope since my ttg was neg. Forgot to mention that my symptoms also include recurrent canker sores (usually only one at a time and usually monthly), leg aches/cramps in the upper thigh/hip region, and frequent headaches. My doc thought hormone imbalance and prescribed BCP. I did already start elim of gluten...
  20. I tried the lactose again just to see what would happen. Yesterday I had a glass of milk on an empty stomach and w/in 20mins a wave of exhaustion hit me and my stomach ballooned. Then I felt fine about 1-2hrs later. Now I need to figure out if I have a gluten and lactose issue or just a lactose issue.
  21. The total IGA was in the normal range. I am already doing a trial of gluten free. Starting to believe there is a lactose intolerance so I suspect that I'll be doing DF and then reintro gluten soon and I'll probably do the rest of the panel then.
  22. For the past year I've had almost daily minor heartburn, frequent headaches, exhaustion, and upper abdominal bloating that occurs a few times a month...sometimes 1-2d per week sometimes once every other week. At first I thought it was a side effect of the Mirena IUD. Had that removed and issues continued. Then the pattern seemed to correspond to my monthly...
  23. Is there a good online resource for how to start an elimination diet? I posted in the "doc" thread that my GP is clueless and suggested that I only need to do a TED for 3-5 days and then start playing with adding foods in. Clearly that isn't a sound process. I know I need to eliminate gluten, and I'm guessing a few other things, for a much longer time and...

ARCHIVED What Type Of Doc To See?

I've had intermittent bloating and almost daily heartburn for almost a year now. Have been discussing the issue with my GP and my OB/GYN actively since the summer. I've had complete blood tests, ttg iga, CA-125, liver panel, etc to rule out ovarian cancer, gall bladder, pancreas, liver, etc. I've also had an upper GI, abdominal CT, and pelvic ultrasound....
  25. Thanks all for the advice and suggestions. This morning I had an Udi's bagel with PB and J and coffee w/ soy creamer and didn't experience the exhaustion but did feel bloated and uncomfortable following. Can't figure out why as I haven't had the bloating after Udi's or PB before. All of this trial and error of what causes what is so frustrating. Could I just...
