ARCHIVED I'm Done With Amy's
birdie22 replied to Piccolo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know this is an old thread recently resurfaced but I find it interesting. I had Amy's veggie lentil soup for lunch today. First time having it. I had 1/2 a can along side a turkey sandwich w/ hellmans on Udi's bread. I've had plenty such sandwiches over the past 3mo of being gluten-free. I'm the only one who uses the mayo so I know there's no cc. About... -
ARCHIVED Top Care Acetaminophen Rapid Release Gel Caps?
birdie22 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Anyone know if Top Care brand acetaminophen rapid release gel caps are gluten free? I couldn't find anything online on their site or the gluten-free-free drug list. I called their 800# and they didn't know, took down my info, and said they'd call me. The inactive ingredient list lists "starch" but doesn't state from what source (my Top Care ibuprofen lists... -
ARCHIVED Ranch Dressing
birdie22 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Is ranch dressing more likely or less likely to contain gluten? I know Kraft and quite a few others have gluten-free versions but I'm curious about generic restaurant/catering ranch. are creamy dressings more likely to have gluten. -
ARCHIVED How Long After gluten-free Would Symptoms Ease Or Clear?
birdie22 replied to trillium's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ah, I misread your post...it was your latest bout of symptoms that started in Nov. As I said in my PP I've been gluten-free since November and still have symptoms. Many on these boards have indicated that it took 4-6mo, and sometimes longer, to see drastic improvement. With gut damage needing to heal, issues with cross contamination, the occasional misstep... -
ARCHIVED How Long After gluten-free Would Symptoms Ease Or Clear?
birdie22 replied to trillium's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So you went gluten-free back in November? When was the blood test for celiac done? If it was done after you ditched the gluten that could be the reason for the negative test. You also need to be consuming gluten in order for your endoscopy to show celiac related damage. ETA: I am not diagnosed but suspect gluten sensitivity. I've also been gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED What Else To Test For Or Investigate?
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Definitely something for me to ask about. I think my ob/gyn and PCP discounted it early on because I have regular cycles, no pelvic pain, conceived my 2 children very very easily, and am in my late 30s. But at this point I'm willing to ask again. -
ARCHIVED What Else To Test For Or Investigate?
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My ob/gyn was in on it at the beginning because I thought my symptoms were related to my Mirena IUD. Had that removed and symptoms didn't resolve. OB/gyn had suggested exploratory laprascopic surgery to look at things but I wasn't ready to just delve into surgery w/out eliminating other things (had just started investigating this issue). But, maybe time to... -
ARCHIVED What Else To Test For Or Investigate?
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well I think I need a new PCP. I haven't been happy with her approach or the fact that she doesn't spend more than 10minutes with me anyway. I had a follow up today, told her I didn't see much progress and that I'm discouraged. She sent me away with a rx for levsin saying I probably just need that to help keep things moving and to just take as needed since... -
ARCHIVED Iding Intolerances-How And How Long Did It Take?
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I inhaled a few scoops of ice cream and feel a bit better already. I wish I could find a way to expel it. I never moves to my intestines. The bloat stays up by my ribs but doesn't cause burping either. I've tried different stretches, massaging my stomach, etc and nothing works. I can usually get relief from gas-x or phazyme. I had an upper GI which didn... -
ARCHIVED Iding Intolerances-How And How Long Did It Take?
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
LOL well I'm guessing it is gas that is bloating me but I don't experience any burping or flatulence when that happens. Like zero, nada, which is probably why the bloating and distention is so uncomfortable. It bothers me most in the space between my breast bone and belly button, but mostly up high by my breast bone (I'm guessing diaphragm). I wish I could... -
ARCHIVED Iding Intolerances-How And How Long Did It Take?
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I eat ice cream often, almost always a few hours after dinner. Never have a reaction. I had a glass of skim milk the other day with a handful of nut thins. Fine. So I'm thinking that lactose isn't a problem. I know people who have milk or ice cream and get gas and D pretty soon after. I don't get either. Gas is never my problem. Bloating yes, but burping... -
ARCHIVED Iding Intolerances-How And How Long Did It Take?
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So if I ate a wheat bagel for lunch w/ pb&J on it and w/in 30min I was a tad bit dizzy feeling and w/in 1hr my heart was pounding (87bpm..so a bit faster than resting for me but really could just feel my heartbeat in my chest like crazy), would you assume gluten reaction? I purposefully didn't include cream cheese or other dairy topping. I'm guessing... -
ARCHIVED Iding Intolerances-How And How Long Did It Take?
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have not been diligent with recording timing of symptoms. That's a great suggestion. I typically note something as 30min after lunch or immediately following dinner, but it'll be easy to start adding what time I ate something and what time I experience symptoms. -
ARCHIVED Iding Intolerances-How And How Long Did It Take?

I've posted before here about being blood test neg. Back in Oct I did a elim diet (chicken, rice, banana for a week, then added in other foods one food group at a time per my docs plan). Gluten somewhat stuck out to me then but not entirely, but nothing else stuck out at all as problematic. I went entirely gluten-free in November and have remained that way... -
ARCHIVED Ultrasound Results. Cysts On Ovaries.
birdie22 replied to MomGoneRunning's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Can't comment on whether ovarian cysts are related to Celiac, but I have had one before. It was suspected to have been caused by the mirena IUD. It was deemed a "simple" cyst and went away on it's own about a month after having the IUD removed. My cyst caused lower back aches, pelvic cramps, and general abdominal discomfort. This all resolved once the cyst... -
ARCHIVED What Else To Test For Or Investigate?
birdie22 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've been seeing my PCP for about 6mo now for symptoms of bloating (that causes discomfort right below my breast bone in the area of my diaphragm), distention, nausea, headaches, fatigue, heartburn, thigh aches, and canker sores. All of these come and go and seem somewhat cyclical usually corresponding to my monthly cycle with symptoms being worse around... -
ARCHIVED Rookie Mom Maneuver
birdie22 replied to researchmomma's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Made the mistake myself a month ago. I assumed a rice cereal was gluten-free and the malt on the label just went right by me. Lesson learned. -
ARCHIVED Distended Abdomen
birdie22 replied to Dr. Jill's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Not formally diagnosed but distention is one of my biggest issues and reason for trialling gluten-free diet. I've been gluten-free for almost 3mos. I do still get occasional bloating but on a day to day basis my stomach is much flatter. It definitely took at least a month to start noticing a difference. -
ARCHIVED Muscle Aches (Thighs And Calves)
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you all for your continued suggestions. It is helpful. It is so hard to describe the ache. It isn't a cramp or knot or tightness or burning or even pain. Just a dull, persistent ache deep in the thigh. If you asked me to, I couldn't even pinpoint for you exactly where it aches, just that it does, and that more often than not it seems to start at the... -
ARCHIVED Muscle Aches (Thighs And Calves)
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I do eat a lot of potatoes. At least once a week but not bananas. Could easily add those. As for arthritis would I feel that other than in the joints? The ache is not at the joint specifically. Like when it aches in my calves. Wanted to add that sometimes it is just one leg that aches (more often just the right). I never ache anywhere else. -
Seeking advice on causes and remedies for aches in my legs. I've bee gluten-free for 3 mos. I'm not diagnosed celiac. I take 500 mg of magnesium with calcium and 1000mg D3 daily. I've always suffered from deep aches in my thighs that I used to be able to correlate to a time in my monthly cycle. Now it seems to happen several times a week. Sometimes it extends...

ARCHIVED Is Your House Completely gluten-free? If Only One Of You Has Celiac?
birdie22 replied to kb27's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Not diagnosed but my house is shared. DH is the cook. Most of our dinners are naturally gluten free. The ones that aren't are either modified entirely or supplimented (like he and the girls have regular pasta and I cooke gluten-free pasta, we share the sauce). A friend of mine is diagnosed celiac. She's in a shared household. She even uses the same cook... -
ARCHIVED Food For Flight/airports?
birdie22 replied to granolagal's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Last time I traveled I had a few gopicnic meals. I bought 5 pack sets off of Amazon and packed some in my carry on and the rest in my checked bag (for the stay and return trip). Easy to eat on the go, not messy, and a good variety of food in each kit. -
I'd be looking for another dentist too. I had my first cleaning since going gluten-free last month and I mentioned it to the hygentist. She was more than happy to use the pumice only cleaner and even showed me the bottle of the "sand blasting" style cleaner to allow me to look at the ingredients.

ARCHIVED Raynaud's Issues Or Neuropathy Issues?
birdie22 replied to Jen Z's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've never been diagnosed but suspect I have it. My fingers don't turn blue but they do get pale (not super white, but pale), feel like the tips are being stabbed with knives, and get numb. People make fun of me because I bust out my mittens as soon as the weather drops to the low 50s. I can remember a time in high school when I was on the soccer team and...
